Short answer: No nudity filter or mature-content toggle for Grand Theft Auto VI has been officially documented in the available Rockstar Games, PlayStation or Xbox settings information. The official ESRB listing does confirm that the game is rated M for Mature 17+ and includes the descriptors Nudity and Strong Sexual Content. Those descriptors explain why the game received its rating; they do not show that players can disable or hide those scenes.
If you need a guaranteed way to remove sexual content for a child or another player, do not assume a filter exists. Treat any claim about a GTA VI censorship option as unconfirmed until Rockstar or a console platform publishes a specific setting, support article or manual that explains what it does.
What the official GTA VI rating confirms
The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, with Rockstar Games named as publisher. The record assigns an M (Mature 17+) rating and lists these content descriptors:

The ESRB’s wording is a classification statement. Its ratings guide explains that descriptors indicate content that may have triggered a particular rating and/or may be of interest or concern to consumers. In practical terms, the listing warns buyers that nudity and strong sexual content are part of the material considered in the game’s rating.

The rating does not quantify how often those elements appear, identify every scene, explain the context, or say whether the player can skip, hide or disable them. It also does not indicate that all of the listed material appears in every mode or in every playthrough.
What the M rating means for families
An M rating is intended for players 17 and older under the ESRB system. It is not a technical lock that automatically removes mature scenes for younger users. Retailers and console accounts may apply age checks or purchase restrictions, but those controls are separate from a game-level content filter.
The descriptor list should therefore be read as a warning about the game’s content, not as a menu of optional features. “Nudity” on a rating record does not mean “nudity can be switched off,” just as “Strong Language” does not prove that a profanity toggle is available.
What the rating does not establish
| Question | What is confirmed | What remains unconfirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Does GTA VI contain material classified as nudity? | The ESRB record includes the Nudity descriptor. | The record does not provide a scene list, amount, duration or context. |
| Does it include sexual material? | The record includes Strong Sexual Content. | It does not explain whether scenes are optional, skippable or interactive. |
| Is there a nudity filter? | No such feature is documented in the rating information. | Whether an in-game switch exists cannot be confirmed from the rating. |
| Can parents disable mature content? | Console accounts can have age and family controls in general. | No GTA VI-specific control that removes nudity or sexual content has been documented. |
| Does the same control work on both consoles? | The game is listed for PS5 and Xbox Series. | Any future setting could differ by platform, mode or software version. |
This distinction matters because rating databases are not game manuals. They are designed to communicate the basis for an age classification. They normally do not document configuration menus, parental-control behavior or whether a particular sequence can be bypassed.
Is a mature-content setting documented for GTA VI?
No published toggle has been identified
No official setting description has established a GTA VI option labeled nudity filter, mature-content filter, censorship mode or an equivalent control. There is also no confirmed Rockstar support instruction describing a way to remove sexual content from the single-player game or from online features.

That is a statement about documentation, not proof that a future update could never add such a feature. Rockstar could publish settings information later, and console platforms could document account-level restrictions. Until that happens, the responsible answer is that a filter is not confirmed.
Why rumors are easy to misread
Players often use “filter” to describe several different functions:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- A true content-removal filter would suppress or replace scenes, models, dialogue or effects in the game.
- A scene-skip option would let a player bypass a cinematic without changing other mature material.
- An age gate would restrict who can launch or purchase the game but would leave the game’s content unchanged for an allowed account.
- A parental-control block would prevent access based on account, rating or spending rules, rather than editing the game.
- A streamer mode might hide selected music, names or broadcasts for public streams, but that would not necessarily remove nudity or sexual content.
Only the first function is a nudity filter in the ordinary sense. A claim that the game has “mature-content controls” should be checked to see which of these functions it actually describes.
Can PS5 or Xbox parental controls remove sex scenes?
Platform family controls can be useful for deciding who may launch an M-rated game, download it or make purchases. They are not automatically content-editing tools. A console restriction that blocks an M-rated title will stop access; it does not transform the title into a version without nudity.
The exact behavior and labels of family settings can change with console software updates, account region and whether a child account is managed through a family group. For that reason, parents should verify the current instructions in the official PlayStation or Xbox support documentation for the console and region being used.

What to verify before allowing access
- Whether the child’s account is classified as a child or supervised account.
- Whether the console blocks games by ESRB rating or only asks for an adult approval.
- Whether a restriction applies to physical discs, digital downloads, cloud activity and online play.
- Whether another adult account on the same console can launch the game without entering a family PIN.
- Whether chat, user-generated content and purchases have separate controls.
None of these checks should be described to a child as a way to make GTA VI family-friendly. They are access-management measures unless Rockstar or the platform explicitly says otherwise.

If Rockstar publishes a setting after the game’s release, use the game’s own documentation and the console’s current support pages rather than relying on a video or social-media post. The following process helps distinguish a real control from a rumor.
- Confirm the platform and software version. Check whether the copy is running on PS5 or Xbox Series and install the latest game and system updates. A setting shown in a preview build, test version or another platform may not exist in the retail release.
- Open the game’s Options or Settings menu. Look for a heading such as Accessibility, Content, Audio, Display or Gameplay. Do not assume that a setting exists merely because a menu heading is present.
- Read the full description of any relevant option. A label such as “reduce mature content” is not enough. The description should say what is changed, which scenes or effects are affected and whether the change applies to story mode, online play or both.
- Check whether the control is an age gate. If the game asks for a birth date, account approval or PIN but does not alter scenes after launch, it is an access restriction rather than a nudity filter.
- Test the setting on a separate save or profile. If a documented option exists, determine whether it applies globally, only to a new game, only to cinematics or only to the account that enabled it. Keep in mind that a setting may not affect content encountered through optional missions or online user-generated material.
- Compare the result with official documentation. A Rockstar support article, an in-game manual or a PlayStation/Xbox support page should identify the feature and its limits. If only an unsourced post claims that the option exists, treat it as unverified.
This procedure avoids a common mistake: interpreting a blocked launch, skipped cutscene or blurred screenshot as evidence that the game has a global censorship mode.

When new information appears, ask five specific questions before accepting it:
- Is the source official? Prefer a Rockstar announcement, game manual or console support document over a forum comment or edited video.
- What exactly is controlled? Does the option remove nudity, mute dialogue, skip a scene, blur imagery or merely restrict account access?
- Where does it work? A control may apply to story mode but not online play, or to cinematics but not gameplay encounters.
- How is it protected? A parental option may require a family PIN, while an in-game setting may be available to any player who opens the menu.
- Which platforms and regions are covered? PS5 and Xbox Series versions may receive different menus, and regional ratings or account systems may change how restrictions are presented.
A trustworthy announcement should answer these questions directly. If it only repeats the ESRB descriptors, it is discussing the rating rather than proving a filter.

What parents and players should plan for now
Because nudity and strong sexual content are listed in the official rating, families who want to avoid those themes should make the decision before installing or purchasing the game. Do not rely on a future promise that a setting might appear. Check the account’s age permissions, prevent unsupervised access to the M-rated title if necessary, and explain that an M rating covers more than sexual material: the same record also cites blood and gore, intense violence, mature humor, strong language, drug and alcohol use, and in-game purchases.
Players who are comfortable with mature-rated games should still understand that the ESRB record is not a scene-by-scene guide. It cannot tell you how frequently sexual content appears, whether it is central to the story, or whether every mode includes the same material. Those details would require a separate official description or reliable post-release documentation.
The practical answer for PS5 and Xbox Series owners
For both listed platforms, the current evidence supports the same conclusion: GTA VI is rated M for Mature 17+ with Nudity and Strong Sexual Content among its descriptors, but no Rockstar-documented nudity filter or mature-content toggle is established. A platform-level family setting may restrict access to the game, yet it should not be presented as a tool that edits the game’s scenes.
If Rockstar or Sony or Microsoft later publishes a specific control, check whether it is a genuine content-removal feature, an age gate or a scene-skip function, and whether it works in the modes you care about. Until an official source supplies those details, assume that purchasing or downloading the game does not include a guaranteed way to censor nudity.
