No playable run is established by the available SharpEmu report. A Windows test of build f98ff99 (release 0.0.4), dated September 26, 2026, records Ghost of Yōtei reaching a black screen and then crashing. It does not report gameplay or a frame rate.
What the SharpEmu compatibility report says
SharpEmu’s compatibility listing records Ghost of Yōtei under Windows, report 154, for build f98ff99 / release 0.0.4. The report is dated September 26, 2026, and describes the game booting to a black screen before crashing. That is a limited boot attempt, not evidence that the game is playable.
Compatibility reports can change as the emulator and its game-specific support develop. This result describes that particular build and test; it should not be treated as a result for every later version, operating system, or configuration.

What “playable” would need to mean
A launch attempt, a boot screen, or even one rendered scene does not establish that a game can be played reliably. A useful report should say which stage was reached and whether the game can progress through play, not just whether its executable starts.
#1 Best Overall
- Model Number CFI-2000
- Includes DualSense Wireless Controller, 1TB SSD, 2 Horizontal Stand Feet, HDMI Cable, AC power cord, USB cable, printed materials, ASTRO’s PLAYROOM (Pre-installed game)
- Vertical Stand sold seperately
- Boot: The game starts or reaches an initial screen.
- Gameplay: The player can enter and control the game.
- Stable play: Gameplay continues without a crash or blocking fault, with graphics and audio functioning well enough to play.
The SharpEmu listing establishes only a black-screen boot followed by a crash. It does not document the later stages.
Why there is no reliable performance figure
No verified Ghost of Yōtei frame rate or game-specific benchmark accompanies this compatibility report. Since the reported test ends in a crash, assigning the game an FPS figure—or describing it as running slowly during gameplay—would go beyond what the result shows.

SharpEmu describes itself as an early-stage, experimental PS5 emulator. Its README says it can load a game’s eboot.bin, execute native CPU instructions, and partially handle GPU-related functionality. The project warns: “Platform support is still experimental, so compatibility and performance vary by game, operating system, and GPU driver.” That is a general project warning, not a performance measurement for Ghost of Yōtei.

PlayStation’s August 12, 2026 announcement identifies Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition as a PS5 product that includes the main game. Sucker Punch’s technical article describes features used in the game, including GPU-compute cloth simulation, PS5 Pro ray-traced global illumination, PSSR upsampling, and SSD-assisted loading.

Those details help explain why reproducing a console game on an experimental emulator can involve substantial hardware and software work. They do not identify the cause of SharpEmu’s black screen or crash, nor do they show that any particular feature is responsible for this compatibility result.
How to assess a newer compatibility claim
If a later post says Ghost of Yōtei works, check whether it provides enough detail to distinguish a successful launch from a playable run. Useful evidence includes:
Rank #4
- Enjoy smooth and fluid high frame rate gameplay at up to 120 fps for compatible games, with support for 120Hz output on 4K displays.
- PS5 consoles support an 8K output, so you can play games on your 4320p resolution display.
- Maximize your play sessions with near-instant load times for installed PS5 games.
- 825GB SSD allows ultra-fast load times, while 3-D audio output produces crisp acoustics.
- Explore uncharted virtual territories and slay dragons with this sleek Sony PlayStation 5 gaming console.
- SharpEmu build or commit and the test date
- Game version and host operating system
- GPU and driver details
- The furthest stage reached: boot, menu, or sustained gameplay
- Whether crashes, graphics errors, or audio faults occur
- Measured performance, with the conditions and measurement method
Do not assume that a milestone reported for another PS5-emulation project applies to SharpEmu. A short demonstration of an intro or first rendered scene, by itself, also does not establish a complete or stable playthrough.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsUsing SharpEmu and the game legitimately
SharpEmu’s documented launch flow uses the path to eboot.bin from a legally obtained game. The project says it does not support or condone piracy and describes its development tests as using console dumps of games its developers personally own. Follow the laws that apply where you live and the project’s own documentation.
