Yes. The Nintendo Switch 2 release of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE includes FF7R EPISODE INTERmission, the Yuffie Kisaragi side story. You do not need to purchase Intermission separately for this Switch 2 product. Nintendo’s official product description lists both the main remake and the Yuffie episode as included content.
What is included in the Switch 2 version?
The Switch 2 product is FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE. Its included-content list names two connected experiences:
- FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE: the primary campaign led by Cloud Strife.
- FF7R EPISODE INTERmission: a side story starring Yuffie Kisaragi, set in parallel with Cloud’s journey.
That wording describes Intermission as part of the product, rather than as a separate download or an optional purchase. The inclusion is tied to the Switch 2 version of INTERGRADE; it is not a statement that every version of the remake on every platform includes the episode.
What is Intermission?
A Yuffie-led side story
Intermission follows Yuffie Kisaragi and presents events from her perspective. It runs alongside the events of the Cloud-led remake, so it provides a different viewpoint rather than replacing or retelling the main campaign.

How it relates to the main game
The episode is additional story content within the Switch 2 package. The official descriptions identify the main remake and the Yuffie episode separately, allowing you to treat them as distinct story experiences while owning them through one product listing.
Do you have to buy Intermission separately?
No, not when you buy the Nintendo Switch 2 product listed as FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE. Nintendo’s UK listing explicitly includes “FF7R EPISODE INTERmission (Episode featuring Yuffie Kisaragi)” in the product contents. That is the relevant distinction for a purchase decision: selecting the Switch 2 INTERGRADE release gives you the remake and Intermission together.
If you are looking at a different platform, an older listing, or a product with a different title, check its own contents before assuming the episode is present. The evidence here establishes the Switch 2 package, not every edition or platform release.

Switch 2 editions and the Day One bonus
Square Enix’s Switch 2 store listing distinguishes a Standard Edition from a Day One Edition. The Day One Edition has a limited in-box bonus, while the store page says that bonus is not included with the Standard Edition.
That bonus distinction is separate from Intermission. Nintendo’s product listing identifies the episode as included game content, whereas Square Enix’s Day One language describes an additional physical item or package bonus. Choosing Standard instead of Day One therefore does not, based on the official listings, remove Intermission from the game.

Release date and regional differences
Nintendo’s UK product page gives 22 January 2026 as the release date. Nintendo Japan’s announcement dated 22 January 2026 also confirms that the Switch 2 release contains both the Cloud-led remake and the Yuffie-led Intermission episode.

Those dates and listings are regional. A Nintendo store in another country may show a different date, product format, age rating, language information, or availability status. If your local store displays a listing with a different name, compare the included-content section and look specifically for “FF7R EPISODE INTERmission” before completing the purchase.

Nintendo Canada announced a free demo containing the first chapter and said that save data can carry over to the full game. This is useful if you want to sample the opening before buying, but it is regional store information rather than a universal Switch 2 entitlement.
Check your local storefront
Demo availability can depend on the country or region of your Nintendo Account and eShop. Look at the current listing in your local Nintendo store to see whether the demo is offered and whether its save-transfer wording applies to your version.

Do not confuse the demo with Intermission
The announced demo covers the first chapter of the main game. It does not establish that Intermission is playable in the demo, and it does not change the answer about the full product: Intermission is included with the Switch 2 version of INTERGRADE.
How to verify a listing before you buy
- Confirm the platform. The product name should identify Nintendo Switch 2, not a previous-generation release or another platform.
- Check the full title. Look for FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE, rather than a listing that mentions only the base remake.
- Open the contents or product-details section. The wording to look for is “FF7R EPISODE INTERmission” or an equivalent reference to the Yuffie episode.
- Separate game content from package extras. A Day One bonus is an edition-specific item; it is not the same thing as the Intermission episode.
- Check your region. Confirm the release date, format, language information, and any demo or save-transfer terms in your local Nintendo store.
- Keep the product page for your exact format. Physical and digital listings can have different packaging notes, even when the included game content is described the same way.
Common points of confusion
“Intergrade” versus “Intermission”
The names are easy to mix up. INTERGRADE is the product title used for the enhanced release, while INTERmission is the Yuffie episode listed inside the Switch 2 package. Seeing both words in the title and contents does not indicate two separate purchases.

The Day One bonus versus the episode
The Day One Edition’s limited in-box bonus is an edition extra. The episode is listed as game content by Nintendo. A Standard Edition can therefore be the correct choice if you want the two story components but do not need the limited physical bonus.

A retailer summary that omits the episode
Retailer pages sometimes shorten product descriptions. If a summary mentions only the main remake, use the publisher or Nintendo product-details page for the exact Switch 2 listing and verify the included-content section. Do not infer that Intermission is missing solely because a short retailer headline leaves it out.
A listing for another platform
Platform and edition names matter. The official confirmation discussed here applies to Nintendo Switch 2. A listing for another console or a previous release may use different contents, so verify that product independently.
What has not been established by the official listings
The cited Nintendo and Square Enix pages confirm inclusion, edition-bonus treatment, regional release information, and the Canadian demo announcement. They do not establish a current retail price, current stock, retailer inventory, download size, frame-rate performance, loading times, or hands-on image quality. Those details can change by region, format, or update and should not be inferred from the inclusion announcement.
Bottom line for buyers
Buy the Nintendo Switch 2 version labeled FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE and you get the Cloud-led remake plus FF7R EPISODE INTERmission, the Yuffie side story, in the same product. You do not need a separate Intermission purchase. Treat the Day One in-box bonus as a separate edition extra, and verify your local Nintendo listing for region-specific dates, formats, demo access, and availability.
