No—Feed the Deep is currently listed as a single-player game on Nintendo Switch. Nintendo’s official listing specifies “No. of players — Single system (1),” and it does not list local wireless, couch co-op, or online multiplayer. The Nintendo Switch Online feature shown for the game is “Save Data Cloud,” which is a cloud-backup function rather than a way to play with friends.
The Switch digital edition is currently scheduled for February 11, 2027. Because that launch date is still in the future, Nintendo’s feature metadata could change before release; the answer here reflects the current official listing.
What Nintendo’s listing says about multiplayer
The clearest answer comes from the player-count field on Nintendo’s official Feed the Deep product page: “No. of players — Single system (1)”. That wording means one person is supported on one Nintendo Switch system. It does not describe a two-player mode, shared-screen mode, or a second controller joining the game.

Nintendo’s listing also does not include entries for local wireless play or online multiplayer. Those are normally identified separately when a Switch title supports them. Their absence matters because “single system (1)” is not a generic description of the console; it is the game’s listed player configuration.

Steam’s official support metadata independently labels Feed the Deep “Single-player.” The Steam label is not a substitute for Nintendo’s Switch specifications, but it is consistent with the Switch listing and with the game’s published design as a solo undersea expedition.
Can two people play on one Switch?
Not according to the current Switch specification. There is no listed couch co-op or local multiplayer mode, so connecting a second Joy-Con, Pro Controller, or another compatible controller is not expected to add a second diver.
The phrase “Single system (1)” is especially relevant to the common question, “Can we play together on the same console?” It identifies one supported player on that system, rather than one player per controller. A second controller may be useful for navigating the console interface, but the listing provides no evidence that it can control another character, share the screen, or take turns inside the game.

What local multiplayer features are not listed
- Couch co-op or shared-screen play
- Competitive split-screen play
- Local wireless multiplayer between two Switch consoles
- A pass-and-play or alternating-player mode
- Any multiplayer add-on unlocked by using extra controllers
These are conclusions about the current product metadata, not a claim that Nintendo can never add a feature. The game’s listed release date is February 11, 2027, so a later update to the product page could change the answer.

Is Feed the Deep an online multiplayer game?
Online multiplayer is not listed for the Switch edition. Nintendo’s page does not show an online-play player count, online co-op, online versus mode, or matchmaking feature. The Steam support entry also identifies the game as single-player.
That means you should not buy Feed the Deep expecting to invite a friend into the same undersea cave, join a hosted session, or compete on a shared online map. Nothing in the current official metadata establishes those functions.
Why “Nintendo Switch Online” can be confusing
Switch product pages can show a Nintendo Switch Online section even when a game has no multiplayer. For Feed the Deep, that section is labeled “Save Data Cloud.” Save Data Cloud refers to backing up or restoring supported save data through a Nintendo Switch Online membership. It does not indicate that the game supports online sessions.

Do you need Nintendo Switch Online to play?
The current information does not indicate that a Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to play Feed the Deep. The only Nintendo Switch Online feature identified is Save Data Cloud, which concerns save backup rather than access to the game’s single-player campaign.
If you do not subscribe, the listing still gives no reason to expect that the core solo expedition would be unavailable. You would simply not have the cloud-save function shown in the Nintendo Switch Online section. Nintendo’s product page should be checked again after launch for the final account and save-data requirements, because the edition has not released yet.
What kind of game is Feed the Deep?
The multiplayer answer makes more sense when viewed alongside the game’s published structure. The official Feed the Deep site describes a Lovecraftian undersea roguelike built around solo exploration. You dive into procedurally generated caves, collect resources, purchase upgrades, manage a limited oxygen supply, and avoid hostile wildlife.

Those details explain why the official material presents the experience as a lone descent rather than a crew-based adventure. They do not prove that cooperative play is technically impossible, but they do describe a design centered on one diver’s decisions and survival.
Supported Switch play modes
Nintendo lists Feed the Deep as supporting TV, tabletop, and handheld modes. These are display and system-use options, not additional multiplayer modes.

“Can a friend join remotely?”
There is no listed online multiplayer feature, so the current answer is no. A friend cannot be assumed to join your run through an online invitation, lobby, or matchmaking system.
“Can we take turns?”
The listing does not advertise a formal pass-and-play mode. Two people could physically take turns deciding what to do, as they could with many single-player games, but that would be an informal arrangement rather than a supported multiplayer feature. Each person would still be interacting with one player’s run.
“Will Nintendo Switch Online let us play together?”
No such capability is shown. The Nintendo Switch Online entry is specifically Save Data Cloud. A membership should not be purchased on the assumption that it unlocks cooperative or competitive play.

How to verify the final feature set before launch
Because February 11, 2027 is a future release date, check the official Nintendo listing again when the game is available for purchase. Use the following checks rather than relying on a retailer’s shorthand:
- Open the Feed the Deep page in the Nintendo eShop or Nintendo’s official game catalog.
- Read the No. of players field. A multiplayer release should show more than “Single system (1)” or identify additional systems and modes.
- Look for explicit entries such as local wireless, online play, or a Nintendo Switch Online requirement tied to multiplayer.
- Read the game’s latest description and version information for a post-launch multiplayer announcement.
- If the listing still shows only one player and Save Data Cloud, treat the game as single-player even if a store page uses broad language such as “adventure” or “exploration.”
This check is worthwhile because digital product pages can be updated before release, and the current listing is not yet a final post-launch record.
Bottom line for different types of Switch players
- Looking for couch co-op: The current listing does not support that expectation; it specifies one player on one system.
- Looking for online co-op or versus play: No online multiplayer feature is listed.
