Yes. ExpressVPN’s current official server-location list includes USA – Atlanta. The listing shows Atlanta as available through Lightway UDP, Lightway TCP, WireGuard, OpenVPN UDP, OpenVPN TCP, and IKEv2. ExpressVPN does not mark Atlanta as a virtual location in that table.
If you need an Atlanta endpoint, select USA – Atlanta yourself in the app’s location picker. Do not rely on the automatic option to choose it: Smart Location, called Fastest Location in the current Android and iOS guidance, chooses an endpoint using network conditions rather than your preferred city.
What the current Atlanta listing confirms
ExpressVPN’s live server-location table, checked October 13, 2026, contains a U.S. entry named USA – Atlanta. Its six protocol columns show Atlanta as available for Lightway UDP, Lightway TCP, WireGuard, OpenVPN UDP, OpenVPN TCP, and IKEv2. The table describes protocol availability at the location level, but ExpressVPN notes that an individual device or app may support only some of those protocols.
The list says Atlanta is “Available,” not “Available – Virtual Locations.” That is the strongest conclusion the published information supports: Atlanta is not currently identified as a virtual location by ExpressVPN. The list does not publish an Atlanta server count, data-center address, capacity figure, uptime percentage, or independently measured speed, so those details cannot be inferred from the city listing.

How to connect to Atlanta in the ExpressVPN app
The exact screen layout can differ by operating system and app release, but the process is the same: open the location picker, choose the Atlanta entry, and then connect.
- Open ExpressVPN and sign in. Start the installed app on your computer, phone, tablet, router interface, or other supported device.
- Open the VPN location picker. Use the control that displays the current location or opens the list of available locations.
- Find the U.S. entry for Atlanta. Search for Atlanta if the picker has a search field, or browse the United States locations until you see USA – Atlanta.
- Select Atlanta. Choosing the city sets it as the requested VPN endpoint; it does not merely change a preference for future automatic selections.
- Start the connection. Press the app’s connect control and wait for the connected status before using the connection.
- Keep the city selected while connected. If you disconnect and reconnect later, check the location picker again. An automatic mode or a changed recommendation may select a different city.
On Android and iOS, ExpressVPN’s current support guidance calls the automatic choice Fastest Location. On desktop applications and routers, the equivalent feature is called Smart Location. Either automatic mode is designed to optimize the connection, not to guarantee Atlanta, so manual selection is the reliable method when the city matters.

ExpressVPN’s location table shows all six of the following protocols for Atlanta. Availability in the table does not mean every device exposes every option; the operating system, app version, and device type determine which choices you can actually select.

If a protocol shown in the table is missing from your app, that does not mean the Atlanta location has disappeared. First check the app’s protocol settings and the platform’s supported options. Location availability and protocol menus can change as ExpressVPN updates its applications.
Is the Atlanta endpoint physically in Atlanta?
ExpressVPN’s current location table does not label Atlanta as virtual. However, “not marked virtual” is not the same as a published street address or a guarantee about a particular facility. ExpressVPN does not provide that infrastructure detail in the Atlanta listing.
ExpressVPN explains that most locations pair the registered IP address with a physical server in the same country, while a limited set use a physical server in another country. In those cases, the IP is registered to the selected location even though the hardware is elsewhere. Its virtual-location list specifically names USA – Nashville (via Atlanta) and USA – Charleston – South Carolina (via Atlanta). Atlanta itself is not included in that virtual-location label in the current list.

This distinction matters if your requirement is an Atlanta-registered IP rather than proof of a server inside Atlanta city limits. The published evidence establishes the former; it does not disclose the exact facility or network route.

Automatic selection can choose another U.S. city or another nearby location even when Atlanta is available. That is normal behavior for an optimization feature, not evidence that Atlanta is offline. Select Atlanta manually whenever location consistency is more important than the app’s calculated preference.
Troubleshooting when Atlanta does not appear
The city is missing from the picker
- Confirm that you are browsing the United States list rather than a favorites, recent, or recommended subset.
- Use the picker’s search field for Atlanta, then look specifically for USA – Atlanta.
- Update the ExpressVPN application and reopen the location list. The company’s server list and app labels are subject to change.
- Check the official server-location list again if the app and website disagree. The live list is the more direct indication of current published availability.
Atlanta appears, but a protocol is unavailable
The official table lists six protocols for the location, while ExpressVPN cautions that protocol support varies by device. Review the protocol menu for your operating system and try another listed option that your app offers. Do not treat a missing menu item on one device as proof that the Atlanta location itself lacks that protocol.

The app connects to a different city
Disconnect, reopen the location picker, and choose USA – Atlanta instead of Smart Location or Fastest Location. Automatic modes are allowed to select the endpoint they calculate as optimal, so they will not necessarily preserve your last city choice.
The connection fails after Atlanta is selected
- Try another protocol that your device supports from the Atlanta list.
- Disconnect and reconnect after confirming that the city still reads USA – Atlanta.
- Test whether the issue is limited to Atlanta by selecting another available location temporarily. If other locations connect, the problem may be transient availability rather than an account or installation failure.
- Check ExpressVPN’s current support information for an outage or location change before drawing conclusions about permanent availability.
What ExpressVPN’s network figures do—and do not—tell you
ExpressVPN’s support material updated in 2026 says the company operates in 113 countries across 214 server locations. That is a company-published network total, not a count of Atlanta servers. It cannot be used to calculate Atlanta capacity, the number of machines in the city, or the likelihood of a particular speed.

When choosing Atlanta makes sense
- Location-specific testing: Select Atlanta when you need traffic to appear associated with that city’s registered IP geography.
- Consistency across sessions: Manual selection is preferable when changing cities could affect a test, login flow, or location-sensitive service.
- General browsing without a city requirement: Smart Location or Fastest Location may be more convenient because they evaluate network conditions automatically.
- Protocol troubleshooting: If one protocol is unstable on your device, the Atlanta listing gives you several other listed protocol families to check, provided your platform supports them.
How current is the information?
Server locations, virtual-location labels, protocol support, and app terminology are operational details that can change. The Atlanta listing was checked October 13, 2026. ExpressVPN’s Smart Location guidance was updated September 15, 2026, and its Fastest Location guidance was updated July 31, 2026. Recheck the location picker immediately before relying on Atlanta for a particular task, especially after an app update or when traveling.
The practical answer remains straightforward: look for USA – Atlanta in the picker and select it manually. The published list supports Atlanta availability and six protocol entries, while leaving server count, exact physical infrastructure, and performance to information ExpressVPN does not disclose on that page.
