Yes, but only inside defined platform pools. EA SPORTS FC 27 lets PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC players use cross-play together. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One form a separate old-generation pool. Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 do not cross-play with PlayStation, Xbox or PC.
Cross-progression is narrower still: Ultimate Team progress can move between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, or between Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, when both systems use the same EA Account. Progress in other modes remains tied to the console platform, and a PlayStation-to-Xbox transfer is not supported.

The platform split is based on Electronic Arts’ FC 27 cross-play and cross-progression guidance updated in 2026. A console’s generation determines who can enter the same online match; the platform family determines whether eligible Ultimate Team data can follow you to another console.
How cross-play works between generations
PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC
These three platforms share the current-generation cross-play pool. A player on PlayStation 5 can invite someone on Xbox Series X|S, and either console can play with a compatible PC player. The invitation and matchmaking systems still depend on each player’s online account, edition and settings, but the hardware brands themselves are not a barrier inside this pool.

Current-generation cross-play does not create a universal pool for every FC 27 copy. A PlayStation 5 player cannot use cross-play to join a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One match. The same-generation rule is the boundary, even when the game title is identical.
PlayStation 4 and Xbox One
Older consoles share their own cross-play pool. PlayStation 4 users can play with Xbox One users, but neither platform joins the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC pool. This separation reflects the different generation-specific versions and feature sets rather than a setting that players can override.
Switch and Switch 2
Neither Nintendo version supports FC cross-play with PlayStation, Xbox or PC. EA Help states: “Nintendo Switch™ and Nintendo Switch™ 2 don’t support cross-play for FC.” That means buying the Switch 2 edition does not let you join a friend’s PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S or PC session. The two Nintendo systems are also not listed as a cross-play bridge to the other generation pools.

What cross-progression includes
Cross-progression is not a single cloud save shared by every device. EA Help describes availability “if you’re playing on the same platform,” and the FC 27 dual-entitlement FAQ defines the documented transfer around paired console generations and Football Ultimate Team.
Ultimate Team transfer pairs
When you use the same EA Account, Ultimate Team progress and acquired Ultimate Team content transfer from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, or from Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S. The transfer is within one console family; it is not a way to convert a PlayStation club into an Xbox club.

The official dual-entitlement wording says that “all the progress you make or content you acquire” in FC 27 Football Ultimate Team transfers from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 or from Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S. Treat that as a mode-specific entitlement, not permission to synchronize every save on every device.

Modes that remain console-specific
EA’s documented transfer does not cover the rest of the game’s modes. Progress in Online Seasons, Co-op Seasons, Manager Career, Player Career and Clubs remains specific to the console platform. Starting a Career save on PlayStation 4 therefore does not make that save appear on PlayStation 5 through the Ultimate Team transfer entitlement, and changing from PlayStation to Xbox does not carry it over.
Clubs also has a hardware-availability consideration: The Grounds, including Clubs, is available only on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. The mode’s presence on Switch 2 does not change that console’s cross-play status.
Moving from PS4 to PS5 or Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S

- Keep the same EA Account. Sign in to the newer console with the EA Account used for FC 27 on the older, paired console. A different EA Account creates a separate Ultimate Team identity.
- Stay within the same platform family. The supported paths are PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S. A console-brand change is not an eligible migration.
- Install the correct FC 27 edition. FC 27 launched worldwide on September 25, 2026 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Confirm that the new system has access to the edition associated with your account or entitlement.
- Complete account sign-in before troubleshooting. If Ultimate Team appears empty, first verify the EA Account address and platform account linkage rather than creating a new club or buying content again.
- Check only Ultimate Team for the documented transfer. Career, Seasons and Clubs saves should be treated as platform-specific unless EA changes its policy in a later update.
EA can revise online features through patches, so check the live EA Help article when a major FC 27 update changes account or mode behavior. The rules above reflect EA’s 2026 guidance.
Does buying FC 27 on Switch 2 solve the compatibility problem?
No. Switch 2 receives its own FC 27 version and supports The Grounds, but it remains outside cross-play with PlayStation, Xbox and PC. If your priority is playing with friends on current-generation consoles or PC, choose a platform in that current-generation pool instead of assuming the newer Nintendo hardware will bridge them.

Switch 2 can still be the appropriate choice for someone who wants Nintendo hardware and its available feature set. The important distinction is that feature availability and network compatibility are separate decisions: The Grounds being available on Switch 2 does not make Switch 2 cross-play compatible.

Launch platforms and what the headline numbers mean
FC 27 launched worldwide on September 25, 2026 across the seven listed platform targets: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Electronic Arts advertises a content scope of more than 21,000 players, over 800 clubs and national teams, 140 stadiums and more than 35 leagues.
Those figures describe the amount of football content in the game, not the number of players in a shared matchmaking pool. Cross-play remains governed by the generation and platform rules above, regardless of the size of the roster, club list or stadium selection.
Common compatibility mistakes
- Assuming “same game” means same matchmaking. FC 27 on PlayStation 5 and FC 27 on PlayStation 4 belong to different cross-play pools.
- Confusing cross-play with cross-progression. You can play across the current-generation pool without gaining a universal save shared between those platforms.
- Expecting every mode to transfer with Ultimate Team. The documented entitlement is for Football Ultimate Team; Online Seasons, Co-op Seasons, Manager Career, Player Career and Clubs remain console-specific.
- Switching brands and expecting a transfer. PlayStation-to-Xbox movement is not supported, even when both systems are current generation.
- Using a second EA Account on the new console. The paired-generation Ultimate Team transfer requires the same EA Account.
- Reading The Grounds availability as a cross-play promise. The mode is available on Switch 2, but Switch 2 still does not cross-play with the other platforms.

Bottom line
FC 27 supports cross-play across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a separate PlayStation 4–Xbox One pool. Switch and Switch 2 are excluded from cross-play with those platforms. Cross-progression is limited to Ultimate Team transfers between paired generations on the same console family: PS4–PS5 or Xbox One–Xbox Series X|S. Other modes stay platform-specific, and no PlayStation-to-Xbox migration is available.
