No Subnautica game is listed as a requirement. The Steam listing says you need the Dave the Diver base game to use its Subnautica 2 Content Pack; it does not name Subnautica or Subnautica 2 as a prerequisite. Nexon describes the pack as free and planned for early 2027. Check the Steam listing; on another platform, verify that platform’s own store page as release approaches.
What game do you need?
For the Steam version, the stated requirement is the Dave the Diver base game. The Steam Content Pack listing names that game as required and does not list either Subnautica or Subnautica 2 as a requirement. The crossover’s theme does not, according to that listing, make ownership of a Subnautica game necessary.
This requirement is confirmed on Steam; it should not be treated as a precise statement of store rules on every platform. Nexon lists the pack on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox, while its broader list of platforms for Dave the Diver also includes Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, iOS, and Android. That difference does not establish that the pack will be available on every platform that has the base game. Check the DLC listing for your platform before expecting to download or play it.

Nexon describes the Subnautica 2 Content Pack as a free expansion planned for early 2027. MINTROCKET’s Steam announcement also gives early 2027 as the planned timing for Steam. These are announced plans, not a guarantee of a release date; confirm the current listing and availability through your store.

Nexon describes the collaboration as the planned final DLC for Dave the Diver. That is the publisher’s current plan, rather than a guarantee that no further downloadable content will ever be released.
