For Cricket Wireless customers seeking a legitimate way to locate family members or manage a child’s device, Cricket promotes AT&T Secure Family. It uses a parent app and a companion app installed on the family member’s phone; it is not covert spy software. Cricket says eligible primary account holders can try it free for 30 days, then pay $12 per month.
What Cricket customers can use
Cricket’s promoted option is AT&T Secure Family, which combines family location sharing with parental controls. Cricket describes it as a family safety app for staying connected and guiding screen time and content access. Its listed features include real-time location, location history, place alerts, check-ins, screen-time tools, and limits on online access.
The offer shown on Cricket’s official page, accessed October 7, 2026, is a 30-day free trial followed by $12 per month. It supports up to 10 family members and 30 devices. The page says the service is available to Cricket customers who are primary account holders in good standing. The offer and price can change, so check Cricket’s Secure Family page for current terms.
Billing is through Google Play or Apple’s App Store, and the subscription auto-renews. To stop charges, cancel through the app store where you subscribed; logging out or cancelling Cricket or AT&T wireless service does not itself cancel Secure Family.

How setup and location sharing work
Secure Family uses two apps: a parent app and Secure Family Companion on the family member’s phone. The setup depends on the family member installing and pairing the companion app; this is transparent family sharing, not a way to secretly access someone’s phone.
AT&T lists iOS 16 or later and Android 13 or later as compatible. The parent and family member can use different operating systems. A compatible smartphone is required to run the apps. See AT&T’s Secure Family support information for device requirements and setup details.

Parental controls
The feature set also includes web and app use reports, content filters, internet schedules, screen-time management, online-access limits, and emergency alerts. These tools are intended for family safety and parental guidance; the availability of a feature does not establish secret access to messages or other phone contents.
Coverage, accuracy, and battery limitations
Secure Family is designed for use in the United States and AT&T coverage area. Some features may not work outside that area. AT&T cautions that location accuracy may vary with a device’s network connection, while the App Store listing says location availability, timeliness, or accuracy is not guaranteed. GPS use in the background can also reduce battery life. These limitations mean location sharing should not be treated as guaranteed or as a substitute for emergency services.

Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesKeep tracking consensual and visible
Family location tools should be used with the knowledge and proper authority of the people whose devices are involved. Do not install tracking software on another adult’s phone without their informed consent. A family safety app is not a legitimate way to monitor a partner covertly; if location sharing is appropriate, agree on it openly and use the app’s normal setup and controls.
