Does Cozy Builder have cross-play?

- A console player, or someone using a different PC storefront, should not assume they can join until an official platform and cross-play statement says so.
- Cross-play is a multiplayer feature. It should not be confused with Steam Cloud or with a character appearing in both cloud and local saves; those are save-persistence questions.
Why the wording matters
Store pages often list every supported platform and networking feature when those details are available. In Cozy Builder’s case, the identified platform is Steam and the co-op instructions use Steam’s friends system. Without a second named platform or an explicit cross-play notice, claiming support for console-to-PC or storefront-to-storefront play would go beyond the published information.

How to play online co-op on Steam
The official multiplayer announcement gives a direct joining flow. Both players should be using the Steam version, because that is the only documented environment for the feature.
- Launch Cozy Builder through Steam. The listing identifies Steam as the supported platform for the documented co-op mode.
- Open the multiplayer menu. The player who will run the session selects Host Game.
- Invite the friend. The announcement says a Steam friend can join through the in-game menu, or by right-clicking the host in Steam Friends & Chat and choosing the game’s join option when it appears.
- Enter the shared valley. Once connected, both players build in the same Cozy Vineyard Valley rather than loading unrelated single-player instances.
- Work on the common objectives. The announced purpose of co-op is to build together and work toward shared goals. The sources do not publish a separate list of which tasks are host-only or guest-only.
If a friend cannot join
- Confirm that both people are launching the Steam version, since no other platform is documented.
- Have the host create the session with Host Game before attempting the invitation.
- Try both invitation paths described by the announcement: the in-game multiplayer menu and the host’s context menu in Steam Friends & Chat.
- Check whether the friend is actually signed in and visible in Steam Friends & Chat. A console account or another storefront account cannot be assumed to work.
- If the game connects but a world, item, or objective is missing, treat that as an undocumented save or progression rule rather than proof of cross-play support.
Can two players build in the same world?
Yes. The multiplayer announcement says friends can build together in Cozy Vineyard Valley and pursue shared goals. A later official community update describes the whole valley as co-op. Taken together, those statements indicate a shared-world session: players are cooperating inside one valley, not merely comparing separate farms or visiting an isolated mini-area.

What “shared” means during a session
- One valley: The co-op activity takes place in the same Cozy Vineyard Valley.
- Collaborative construction: Both players can participate in the building activity described by the announcement.
- Common objectives: The announcement explicitly refers to working toward shared goals.
- Whole-valley scope: The community update’s description of the whole valley being co-op is broader than a single shared room or lobby.
The published material does not state whether every object can be edited simultaneously, how conflicting actions are resolved, or whether guests have permissions that differ from the host. Those are implementation details that should not be inferred from the phrase “shared goals.”

In this game, “shared progress” has a confirmed session-level meaning and an unconfirmed account-level meaning. During co-op, players share the valley and its objectives. The sources do not promise that every unlock, item, quest flag, or completed milestone is copied to each participant’s separate save.

What happens when you switch computers?
Steam Cloud is listed for Cozy Builder, and the official community update says the character follows the player across cloud saves and local saves. That is useful evidence that the character is not restricted to one type of save file. It does not, by itself, define every condition for moving a complete co-op world between computers.

These terms answer separate questions:
- Cross-play: Can players on different platforms join the same multiplayer session? Cozy Builder has no official confirmation of this.
- Cross-save: Can a save file or character be available on more than one device or save location? Steam Cloud is listed, and the community update mentions cloud and local saves.
- Cross-progression: Do achievements, unlocks, inventory, campaign state, or other progress follow an account across devices or platforms? The available sources do not define the full scope.
A game can support one of these features without supporting the others. For example, a character may appear in cloud and local saves while multiplayer remains limited to Steam, and a shared valley may not grant every participant an identical personal progression record.

What to verify before arranging a co-op session
- Platform: Make sure the friend has access to the Steam version identified by the official materials.
- Host: Decide who will select Host Game and treat that person’s valley as the session anchor unless a later update documents a different system.
- Invites: Keep both the in-game multiplayer menu and Steam Friends & Chat available, because both are documented joining routes.
- Save expectations: Agree in advance that shared building and objectives are confirmed, while personal unlocks, inventory, and complete world transfer are not yet specified.
