Yes, but Boost Mobile separates international travel from international calling. If you take your Boost phone abroad, you need the Global Roaming add-on, which supports talk, text and data in more than 90 countries for compatible phones on eligible monthly plans. If you are staying in the United States and want to call or text another country, the relevant product is Global Talk & Text. Boost advertises that add-on at $10 per month for unlimited calls to more than 100 countries and unlimited international texting to more than 191 countries and destinations.
Neither option automatically covers every country, every handset or every plan. Destination availability, supported features and pricing can change, so verify the current terms in the Boost app or with Customer Care immediately before you travel or add service.
Which Boost service do you need?
The first question is where you will be located when using the service. Boost uses two different add-ons for two different situations:

Global Roaming is about using your line while your phone is physically abroad. Global Talk & Text is about reaching an overseas number from a Boost line that remains on a domestic network. Buying one does not automatically provide the other.

How Global Roaming works abroad
Coverage and eligibility
Boost describes Global Roaming as talk, text and data in 90-plus countries, starting at $10 per month. The advertised figure is a starting price, not a promise that every destination or feature is included. Boost’s terms require a compatible phone and an eligible monthly domestic plan. The supported-country list and available services can change, so check the destination list in the Boost app or ask Customer Care before departure.
- Confirm that your exact destination is listed, rather than assuming the entire region is covered.
- Verify that your phone model and SIM or eSIM configuration support the service.
- Confirm that your domestic plan is an eligible monthly plan.
- Review the current price and which talk, text and data allowances apply before enabling the add-on.
Activating Global Roaming
Activation is handled in the Boost app. Complete these steps while you still have a reliable domestic connection:
- Open the Boost app and sign in to your account.
- Open Manage Add-Ons.
- Select Enable Global Roaming.
- Review the destination and plan information shown for your line, then confirm the add-on.
- Keep the confirmation available in the app so you can verify that the feature is active if service does not register immediately after landing.
Because Boost says destinations and features may change, do not rely on an old trip’s activation or on a previous country list. Check again for every journey.

- iPhone: Settings > Cellular > Wi-Fi Calling.
- Android: Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi Calling.
After landing, turn on cellular data roaming in your phone’s cellular or SIM settings if data roaming is included in your selected Global Roaming service. The exact switch name varies by handset, but it normally appears in the same mobile-network settings that control the active SIM. If you have multiple SIMs, make sure the Boost line is selected for calls, texts and data as intended.
Dialing while outside the United States
To call a U.S. number from abroad, dial +1, the three-digit area code and the telephone number. To call a local number in the country you are visiting, dial +, the destination country code, the city or area code and the local number. The plus sign is usually entered by holding the 0 key on the phone keypad.
Global Talk & Text for calls made from the United States
Global Talk & Text addresses a different need: contacting people in another country while your Boost phone is being used in the United States. Boost advertises this add-on at $10 per month, with unlimited calling to more than 100 countries and unlimited international texting to more than 191 countries and destinations.

Check the current destination terms before calling a less-common country, a territory or a special service number. The offer is also separate from roaming: it does not by itself turn your phone into a roaming line when you land overseas.

Prices and destination counts are Boost’s published claims and can change. Confirm the live offer in the app before relying on any table entry for a trip or a recurring monthly charge.
Domestic roaming is not international roaming
Boost’s domestic-roaming FAQ describes an allowance of 100 domestic voice-roaming minutes per month. That allowance applies to roaming on participating networks within the United States. It explicitly excludes international voice roaming, international SMS roaming and international data roaming.
In practical terms, having domestic roaming enabled does not mean your line will work in Europe, Mexico or another foreign destination. International use requires the separate Global Roaming option, a supported destination, a compatible device and an eligible plan.
Wi-Fi Calling overseas: useful, but not an emergency solution
Boost says Wi-Fi Calling may be available in some countries outside the United States. Availability depends on the device, destination and service conditions, and a successful Wi-Fi connection does not guarantee that every call feature will work.

The critical limitation is emergency service. Boost states that calls to 911 and international emergency numbers such as 112 or 999 will not work over Wi-Fi outside the United States. Do not treat Wi-Fi Calling as a substitute for local emergency access when traveling. Learn the destination’s emergency procedure, keep a way to reach local assistance and use a cellular connection or local service when appropriate.
Pre-trip checklist
Complete these checks before leaving the United States:
- Look up the exact country in the current Global Roaming destination list.
- Confirm that your monthly domestic plan is eligible.
- Confirm that your phone model, SIM or eSIM and network bands are compatible with the roaming service.
- Enable Global Roaming in the Boost app through Manage Add-Ons.
- Set up and test Wi-Fi Calling at home using the iPhone or Android path listed above.
- Save important numbers in international format, including the plus sign and country code.
- Check your phone’s cellular settings so you know where to enable data roaming after landing.
- Review the current price, recurring billing terms and destination-specific features shown at activation.
What to do after landing
- Turn off airplane mode and allow the phone a few minutes to register with a participating network.
- Enable cellular data roaming if your Global Roaming service includes data and you intend to use it.
- Check that the Boost line is the active line for calls, messages and mobile data if your phone has multiple SIMs.
- Place a short test call and send a test text before depending on the service.
- Use the international dialing format: +1 for the United States, or + followed by the destination country code for a local number.
- Use Wi-Fi where practical to reduce mobile-data use, while remembering that Wi-Fi Calling cannot provide 911, 112 or 999 emergency access abroad.
Troubleshooting common problems
The phone shows no service
First confirm that Global Roaming was enabled in Manage Add-Ons and that the destination is supported. Restart the phone, check that the Boost SIM or eSIM is active and verify that cellular roaming is enabled where required. If the phone still cannot register, contact Boost Customer Care; the issue may be destination availability, plan eligibility or device compatibility rather than a handset fault.

Check the cellular-data-roaming switch and confirm that data is part of the roaming service available in that destination. On a dual-SIM phone, verify that Boost is selected as the data line. If the destination supports talk and text but not data under the current terms, changing a setting will not add the missing feature.

Texts or calls to a particular country fail
Recheck the number’s country and city codes and confirm that the country is included in the relevant Global Talk & Text or Global Roaming list. Calling from the United States and roaming while abroad use different add-ons, so make sure you activated the one matching your location.
Wi-Fi Calling connects but an emergency call is needed
Do not place the emergency call over Wi-Fi from outside the United States. Use the destination’s recognized emergency method or a local cellular or landline connection instead, because Boost warns that 911, 112 and 999 will not work over Wi-Fi abroad.
How to decide whether Boost is suitable for your trip
Boost can be a practical choice when your destination appears in the current Global Roaming list, your phone and monthly plan qualify and you want to keep the same number for ordinary calls, texts and data. It is less straightforward when your itinerary spans several countries with different support, when your device is not confirmed as compatible or when you need guaranteed emergency connectivity.
For a U.S.-based caller who only needs to reach relatives, clients or services overseas, Global Talk & Text is the relevant add-on; international roaming is unnecessary. For a traveler who needs the Boost line abroad, Global Talk & Text alone is insufficient. Make the location-based choice first, then verify the live destination and eligibility details before paying for the add-on.
