Yes. Progress earned during the October 15–19, 2026 Battlefield 6 free trial is stored through the EA Account you use to play and carries into the full game after you purchase it. Career Rank, hardware unlocks and levels, customization items, and other account-based progression are not supposed to reset. The most important condition is using the same, correctly linked EA Account when you play the trial, buy Battlefield 6, and launch the full game.
The trial is available on PlayStation and Steam and includes the full Battlefield 6 experience, including multiplayer modes, events, and Battlefield Portal. Steam access is scheduled to end on October 19, 2026, at 17:00 UTC. After the trial closes, REDSEC remains available to players who have it installed, but the free access to the full Battlefield 6 trial ends.
How Battlefield 6 free-trial progress is saved
Battlefield 6 does not treat the free period as a disposable guest session. EA says you need an EA Account to play because game progress is stored through that account. Your platform identity—your PlayStation or Steam account—is linked to the EA Account, but the EA Account is the key continuity record.
Recommended Free Tools
That distinction matters if more than one person uses a console, if you have multiple EA Accounts, or if you play on both PlayStation and PC. Starting the trial on one EA Account and then purchasing or launching the full game with another can make your progress appear to have disappeared, even though the original data is still associated with the first account.

EA’s access guidance is available at EA’s Battlefield 6 access guide. Its trial details also state that progress from REDSEC carries into the free trial and then into the full Battlefield 6 experience after purchase.
What carries over after you buy the game?
EA specifically identifies the following progression categories as carrying into the full game:
- Career Rank: the rank you earn during the trial remains associated with your account.
- Hardware unlocks and levels: progress on the relevant hardware and its unlock track continues.
- Customization items: earned appearance and personalization items remain available through the same account.
- Other earned progression: EA’s wording includes “etc.”, meaning other progression covered by the account system is intended to continue rather than reset.
The PlayStation Battlefield 6 page additionally describes rank, unlocks, and Battle Pass rewards as carrying across supported platforms when those platforms use the same EA Account. “Supported platforms” is the important qualification: account continuity does not automatically grant a platform entitlement or replace the need to own the game on the platform where you want to play.

The current free trial runs from October 15 through October 19, 2026, on PlayStation and Steam. EA describes it as full access to Battlefield 6 during the promotional window, rather than a small demo with only one mode.
| Platform | Trial availability | Published end information | Included during the trial |
|---|---|---|---|
| PlayStation | October 15–19, 2026 | EA lists the trial through October 19; a specific PlayStation clock time is not stated in the cited guide. | All game modes, events and Battlefield Portal |
| Steam | October 15–19, 2026 | October 19, 2026 at 17:00 UTC, according to EA’s Steam announcement | Multiplayer files and full trial access, including all game modes, events and Battlefield Portal |
The Steam timing comes from EA’s announcement on the EA Forums. If you are in another time zone, convert 17:00 UTC locally rather than assuming the trial ends at midnight where you live. EA’s published guide does not give a separate PlayStation end time, so do not infer one from the Steam deadline.
How to protect your progress before purchasing
Use this checklist before you spend money or switch platforms. It is designed to prevent the account mismatch that is the main documented cause of apparently missing progress.
- Identify the EA Account in use. Check the EA Account shown in the game and make a note of the account identity before you leave the trial.
- Check the account connections. Open your EA Account settings and go to the Connections page. Confirm that the PlayStation Network account or Steam account you are using is linked to the EA Account you intend to keep.
- Do not create or select a different EA Account at checkout. When you purchase Battlefield 6, use the same EA Account that recorded the trial progress.
- Launch with the same account. The first launch of the full game should use the same platform account and EA Account pairing. If a sign-in prompt appears, stop and verify the email or account identity rather than accepting a newly created profile.
- Preserve earlier continuity where possible. EA advises players who participated in the Battlefield 6 Beta or Road to Battlefield 6 to continue using the same EA Account. This is the safest choice if you want earlier progression or entitlements to remain associated with your current profile.
These checks are more reliable than judging by a display name. Names can be similar or changed; the linked EA Account and its Connections page determine which profile the game can retrieve.

Steam and PlayStation: what is shared?
Progression continuity follows the EA Account, not the store page where you obtained the trial. If your Steam account and PlayStation account are both connected to the same EA Account, the account can carry supported progression between those platforms. The platform page’s wording covers rank, unlocks, and Battle Pass rewards across supported platforms.
| Question | What the official information establishes |
|---|---|
| Can I start on Steam and continue on PlayStation? | Progression continuity is expected when both platform accounts use the same EA Account and the platforms support the relevant progression. |
| Can I start on PlayStation and continue on Steam? | The same account-linking condition applies: use the same EA Account and the correctly connected platform accounts. |
| Does buying on one platform buy the other version? | Account progression and game ownership are separate. The cited guidance does not promise a cross-platform purchase entitlement. |
| Do regional prices or editions change the account rule? | Retailer edition, price and regional terms are separate issues. The account used for play remains the continuity requirement. |
In practical terms, first confirm the EA Account connection on both platforms, then verify that you own and launch the appropriate full-game version on the platform you intend to use. The same account can preserve progression, but it does not remove platform-store requirements.
Is multiplayer available during the free weekend?
Yes. The trial provides full game access during its active window, so multiplayer is available rather than being restricted to a tutorial or single-player sample. EA lists all game modes, events and Battlefield Portal as part of the trial. The Steam announcement also confirms that players can download the multiplayer files during the free period.
Because access is time-limited, multiplayer availability follows the trial clock. You can play through the published end of the trial, but you need to purchase the full game to continue playing the full Battlefield 6 experience after the trial closes. The end of the trial does not erase the progress you earned while it was active.

At the end of the promotional period, access to the full Battlefield 6 trial content ends. EA’s access guide says REDSEC remains available to players who have it installed, but that should not be confused with continued access to every Battlefield 6 mode, event or Portal feature included in the trial.
If you buy the full game, launch it with the same EA Account, and use the same linked platform identity, the account can load the rank, unlocks, levels and customization progress earned during the trial. If you do not purchase the full game, the end of the trial changes access—not the ownership or integrity of the progression data stored on your EA Account.

When a player reports that a rank or unlock has vanished, the first issue to investigate is account identity rather than assuming that the free weekend reset progress.

A different EA Account was used
This is the clearest failure case in EA’s guidance. If the trial was played under one EA Account and the full game was purchased or launched under another, the second account will not display the first account’s progression. Sign out only after recording which account owns the progress, then return to that account for the full-game launch.
The platform account is linked elsewhere
A Steam or PlayStation account can be connected to an EA Account in the account’s Connections settings. If the platform is attached to an account you did not intend to use, the game may load the wrong profile. Check the connection before attempting additional purchases or creating another EA Account.
The game was launched before the correct sign-in was completed
A fresh launch under the wrong credentials can make the profile appear empty. Close the game, verify the EA Account and platform connection, and launch again with the account that recorded the trial. Avoid repeatedly switching accounts while troubleshooting, because that can make it harder to identify which profile contains the original data.
Cross-platform support was assumed to mean cross-buy
The official information discusses progression across supported platforms, not an automatic license transfer. If you move from Steam to PlayStation or the reverse, verify both the account link and the purchase requirement for that platform. A valid account connection cannot substitute for owning the version you are trying to launch.
A safe purchase-and-launch sequence
For the lowest risk of an account mismatch, use this order:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Finish playing the trial on the platform where you started.
- Record the EA Account identity shown in the game.
- Verify the platform account on the EA Account Connections page.
- Purchase the full game through the same platform account while signed into the same EA Account.
- Install or launch Battlefield 6 without changing the account pairing.
- Check your Career Rank, hardware levels, customization items and other progression after the first successful connection.
If the expected data is absent after this sequence, stop making additional account changes and recheck the Connections page. The documented remedy is to return to the EA Account that actually stored the trial progress.
