No. Samsung Galaxy Watches do not have a removable physical SIM card slot. If you want cellular service, choose an LTE model: it uses an embedded eSIM that is activated digitally. Bluetooth-only models do not support eSIM, and LTE service depends on your country, carrier and exact watch model.
How Galaxy Watch SIM support works
An LTE Galaxy Watch has an eSIM built into the device rather than a tray for a physical SIM. Samsung describes eSIM as a digital alternative to an ordinary SIM for supported devices. You do not open the watch or insert a card to set up cellular service. Samsung’s eSIM guidance and its Galaxy Watch7 LTE specifications for China identify the watch’s SIM as built-in eSIM.
Bluetooth or LTE: which version do you need?
Galaxy Watch generations are sold in different connectivity variants, though names and model numbers vary by generation and market. The LTE designation matters if you want the watch to connect to a cellular network without relying on a nearby phone.
| Version | eSIM and cellular | Phone-free use | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bluetooth-only | Does not support eSIM, according to Samsung Germany’s LTE/eSIM guidance. | Does not have the LTE connection described for cellular watch models. | Check the listing and model number; a Bluetooth model cannot be made cellular by adding a physical SIM. |
| LTE | Supports embedded eSIM, subject to country and carrier availability. | Samsung lists calls and messages among LTE functions available when the phone is not nearby. Its US guidance also lists streaming, navigation and other functions, but availability can vary. | Confirm the exact watch model and that your carrier supports service for it in your country. |
Samsung’s US overview of Galaxy Watch LTE describes functions available away from a phone. Those capabilities do not mean every feature or service is available on every carrier or in every market.

How to check whether your Galaxy Watch is LTE
Samsung Germany says an EID or IMEI in the watch’s status information is an indicator of an LTE-capable model. Check the model listing and carrier compatibility too; do not rely on one identifier as proof that your carrier will activate service.
- On the watch, open Settings.
- Tap About watch, then Status information.
- Look for an EID or IMEI. Samsung identifies either as an indicator of an LTE-capable model.
- Match the watch’s exact model number to the local product listing and ask your carrier whether it supports that model and an eligible watch plan.

What to confirm before buying or activating LTE
An LTE label alone does not guarantee that a watch can be activated on your carrier. Samsung notes that eSIM availability depends on country and carrier. Check the following with the carrier that will provide service:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Whether it supports eSIM service for your exact Galaxy Watch model in your country.
- Whether an eligible smartwatch plan is required and how the carrier links or provisions service with your watch.
- Whether the watch can be activated in the way you intend to use it. Samsung Canada cautions that its eSIM-enabled watches cannot be activated as standalone devices in that market.
For regional examples, see Samsung’s Galaxy Watch7 LTE page for Canada and its Galaxy Watch7 LTE page for India. These pages illustrate market-specific product and activation information; they do not establish availability for another country or carrier.

Can you use the LTE watch without your phone?
LTE can let a supported watch handle calls and messages when the phone is not nearby, and Samsung’s US overview lists additional functions such as streaming and navigation. But standalone activation and service conditions are not universal: Samsung Canada, for example, says its eSIM-enabled watches cannot be activated as standalone devices. Confirm your carrier’s rules before buying if phone-free use is essential.
