No. You do not need a Game Pass subscription specifically to play Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Hunts if you own a full-game edition. Game Pass is one way to access the Standard Edition, not the only way. Playground Games lists Standard, Deluxe, and Premium editions for purchase, while Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass include the Standard Edition from May 19, 2026.
Treasure Hunts are presented as part of the Festival Playlist rather than as a Game Pass-only entitlement. The normal requirement is to qualify for the Horizon Festival and earn your first Wristband. After that progression step, the Festival Playlist becomes available, allowing you to see the weekly events and challenges that are active for your account.
The direct answer
Game Pass is not specifically required for Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Hunts. If you bought Forza Horizon 6, you have a full-game entitlement and can use the Festival Playlist after completing the opening progression that qualifies you for the Horizon Festival and awards your first Wristband.

Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass are subscription routes that include the Standard Edition. The official launch information also lists Standard, Deluxe, and Premium editions as standalone purchases. Nothing in the cited official material identifies Treasure Hunts as a feature reserved for subscribers.

That distinction matters because access to the game and access to optional additions are separate questions. You need an entitlement to the game itself, then you need to reach the in-game Festival Playlist unlock. You do not need to buy a subscription merely because an event is labeled a Treasure Hunt.
What the official launch information confirms
Game Pass includes the Standard Edition
Playground Games’ January 22, 2026 FAQ says members of Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass can play Forza Horizon 6 at no additional charge through their subscription beginning May 19, 2026. Xbox Wire also lists the game in Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on that date.
The May 19 launch announcement describes the Standard Edition as the edition included with those two Game Pass plans. It separately lists Standard, Deluxe, and Premium editions for people who want to purchase the game rather than use a subscription.
The Festival Playlist has a progression gate
The launch announcement gives the clearest requirement for recurring playlist content: “The Festival Playlist becomes available from the moment you’ve qualified for the Horizon Festival and earned your first Wristband.” That is the relevant gate for Treasure Hunts because the official material describes the Festival Playlist as containing weekly events and challenges.
In practical terms, a player who has just installed the game should not expect every playlist activity to appear on the first menu screen. Complete the introductory sequence, qualify for the festival, and earn the first Wristband. Once that happens, check the Festival Playlist for the current week’s activities.
Premium is optional additional content
The Early Access announcement describes Premium Upgrade as optional additional content for Game Pass members and for owners of the Standard or Deluxe editions. It also provides access to the full game up to four days early. Premium Upgrade is therefore an add-on and early-access option; the official description does not present it as a general Treasure Hunt requirement.

How Treasure Hunts relate to your game entitlement
A Treasure Hunt is best understood as a playlist activity, not as a separate subscription tier. Your account first needs a legitimate entitlement to Forza Horizon 6. That entitlement can come from an active Game Pass plan that includes the Standard Edition or from purchasing one of the listed full-game editions. The game then uses its own progression to unlock the Festival Playlist.
This produces two independent checks when a Treasure Hunt is missing:
- Entitlement check: Are you signed in with the account that owns the game or has the qualifying Game Pass plan?
- Progression check: Have you qualified for the Horizon Festival and earned the first Wristband?
A subscription can satisfy the first check, but it does not bypass the opening progression. Conversely, buying the game satisfies the entitlement check without requiring Game Pass, but you still have to complete the introduction.
Access routes compared
The following comparison uses only the options and distinctions stated in the official launch material.
| Access route | What it provides | Payment model | Treasure Hunt implication |
|---|---|---|---|
| Game Pass Ultimate | Forza Horizon 6 Standard Edition from May 19, 2026 | Recurring subscription | Provides the game entitlement; complete the festival introduction to unlock the Playlist |
| PC Game Pass | Forza Horizon 6 Standard Edition from May 19, 2026 | Recurring subscription | Provides the game entitlement; Treasure Hunts are not identified as subscription-only |
| Standard Edition purchase | The full game as a standalone edition | Upfront purchase | Allows Playlist access after qualifying for the Horizon Festival and earning the first Wristband |
| Deluxe Edition purchase | A listed standalone full-game edition | Upfront purchase | Not presented as requiring Game Pass for Playlist activities |
| Premium Edition purchase | A listed standalone full-game edition | Upfront purchase | Not presented as requiring Game Pass for Playlist activities |
| Premium Upgrade | Optional additional content and up to four days of early access for eligible owners or Game Pass members | Add-on purchase | Not identified as a general requirement for Treasure Hunts |
The official pages do not publish a Treasure Hunt-by-Treasure Hunt entitlement matrix. Do not interpret the table as a promise that every future event will have identical rules; it records what the launch information establishes about the main access routes.

- Sign in to the purchasing account. Start the game with the Xbox account that owns the Standard, Deluxe, or Premium edition. If the game was purchased through a different account, the account currently playing may not have the required entitlement.
- Finish the opening progression. Follow the introductory events and instructions until the game confirms that you have qualified for the Horizon Festival.
- Earn the first Wristband. The launch announcement names this specific milestone alongside festival qualification.
- Open the Festival Playlist. Look for the current weekly events and challenges. A Treasure Hunt should be evaluated as one of those playlist activities, not as a separate Game Pass menu.
- Read the event’s own description. If a particular Hunt mentions an expansion, car, or other prerequisite, follow that event-specific requirement. The official launch pages do not provide a complete list of such exceptions.
If the Playlist remains unavailable immediately after the Wristband milestone, restart the game and verify that the same account is signed in. Also allow the game to finish any pending update or content synchronization before treating the missing activity as a subscription problem.
If you play through Game Pass
Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass are the two plans explicitly named as including the Standard Edition. An active qualifying subscription gives you the game entitlement without a separate Standard Edition purchase, beginning on the stated May 19, 2026 availability date.
After installation, the in-game process is the same: complete the introduction, qualify for the Horizon Festival, earn the first Wristband, and then open the Festival Playlist. Game Pass does not remove that progression gate. If the subscription has expired or the account has changed, the game may no longer recognize the entitlement, so confirm the plan and account before troubleshooting the event itself.
What Premium changes—and what it does not establish
Premium Upgrade is relevant if you want early access or the additional content described by Playground Games. The Early Access announcement says it can provide access to the full game up to four days early and is available to Game Pass members or to owners of the Standard or Deluxe editions. A Premium Edition is also listed as a standalone purchase.
The same official material cites more than 550 cars in the game and says Car Pass delivers 30 cars in total. Those figures describe the broader game and Premium-related content offering; they are not evidence that Treasure Hunts require Premium, Car Pass, or a particular car.
Unless an individual event announcement says otherwise, there is no official basis for treating Premium as a prerequisite for the Playlist. Premium can change when you start playing and which optional content you receive, but the stated Playlist unlock remains festival qualification plus the first Wristband.

Dates and edition timing
The date attached to the Game Pass inclusion is May 19, 2026. That is when the Standard Edition became available through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass according to Playground Games and Xbox Wire. The January 22, 2026 FAQ also says Premium Upgrade can provide the full game up to four days early.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Common reasons a Treasure Hunt is missing
You have not reached the Playlist unlock
The most likely explanation for a new player is progression. Until you have qualified for the Horizon Festival and earned the first Wristband, the recurring Festival Playlist may not be available. Continue the opening sequence rather than purchasing Game Pass as a workaround.
The account does not have the game entitlement
Owning the game on one account does not automatically make every account on every device an owner. Sign in with the purchasing account, or with the account that has the active Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass plan, and confirm that the game launches under that identity.
The subscription is not one of the named plans
The official launch information specifically names Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass for the included Standard Edition. If you are relying on another plan or a promotional access period, verify its current benefits rather than assuming every Game Pass label includes this title.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →The event has an additional condition
The reviewed official pages do not publish a complete Treasure Hunt-by-Treasure Hunt list of expansion or Premium exceptions. An individual event announcement may therefore contain a condition that is not part of the general access rule. Read the event card and its description before concluding that the subscription model is blocking it.

Side clips easily clampe the edge of desk, pass through the holes on the sides, and secure excess cables with baskets. - 【Rubber Pad Protects Desk】Wire organizer under desk built-in soft rubber pads on the clamp protect your desk from scratches, so you will not damage your furniture or office.
- 【Sturdy and Beautiful】Cord management under desk is made of high-quality carbon steel and holds about 15 lbs. The wire basket has 2 holes on each side of the tray to enable your cables to pass freely. Cable baskets are suitable for desk thickness use from 0.4" to 2.4".
- 【Space Saving & Keep Organized】Desk cable management tray holds all your power cords, outlet strips, USB hubs and computer transformers hidden from your feet, and the data cables will not enter the vacuum cleaner to keep your desk clean and tidy. Desk wire organizer is also suitable for use in the kitchen and outdoors.
- 【Reduce Safety Risks】Cable tray under desk keeps all plugs away from your kids, no more worry about tripping. Using 2 holes wire tray saves extra space, helps you easily cabling and wire protection. The mesh design is not easy to accumulate dust, but avoids safety accidents caused by messy wires.
Content has not synchronized
Playlist activities are scheduled content. If you have the correct entitlement and the Wristband milestone but cannot see the current activity, close and relaunch the game, check for updates, and revisit the Playlist after synchronization completes. These steps address a display or update issue; they do not change the underlying entitlement requirement.
Which route should you choose?
Choose Game Pass when you want subscription access
Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass makes sense if you want the included Standard Edition without buying it separately and you value the wider benefits of a recurring subscription. You still follow the same opening progression before the Playlist appears.
Buy an edition when you want permanent ownership
A standalone Standard, Deluxe, or Premium purchase avoids depending on an active subscription for the base-game entitlement. Standard is the straightforward choice if your goal is simply to play the game and complete Playlist activities. Deluxe or Premium may be relevant when you specifically want the additional content or early-access benefits described for those editions.
Add Premium only for its listed benefits
Premium Upgrade is a choice about early access and optional content, not a documented Treasure Hunt paywall. Consider it for those benefits, not because the general Playlist requires it.
Bottom line for FH6 Treasure Hunts
You can do Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Hunts after buying the game; Game Pass is not specifically required. Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass include the Standard Edition, while Standard, Deluxe, and Premium are listed as standalone editions. Whichever route you use, qualify for the Horizon Festival and earn the first Wristband before looking for the Festival Playlist. Premium Upgrade adds early access and other listed content, but the official launch information does not identify it—or Game Pass itself—as a general requirement for Treasure Hunts. For a future event with unusual conditions, use that event’s own announcement as the final authority.
