No. The currently listed Steam edition, Rocksmith 2014 Edition REMASTERED LEARN & PLAY, is a paid purchase. Ubisoft’s separate Rocksmith+ service does have a free starting tier, but a subscription is required to access its full licensed song catalog.
What does Rocksmith Remastered cost?
Steam’s U.S. listing showed a base price of $9.99 for Rocksmith 2014 Edition REMASTERED LEARN & PLAY when checked on October 7, 2026. The page also displayed a separate, temporary discount. Prices and promotions vary by region and time, so check the Steam page for the price currently offered where you live: Rocksmith 2014 Edition REMASTERED LEARN & PLAY on Steam.
The current listing is for the Learn & Play edition, not simply the older Remastered game under an unchanged name. It includes selected music and exercises, including Bachsmith and Bachsmith II, Classic Melody, and exercise bundles. Additional downloadable songs are purchased through Steam rather than through the in-game store interface.

Rocksmith+ is a different product from the Steam Remastered edition. Ubisoft offers free access to lessons and a selection of 20 songs, with real-time feedback and practice tools. A subscription unlocks the full licensed catalog. Song availability can vary by region, and catalog contents may change. See Ubisoft’s Rocksmith+ product page for current access details.

What to check before buying or installing on PC
- Confirm the edition name. Make sure the Steam listing says Rocksmith 2014 Edition REMASTERED LEARN & PLAY if that is the product you intend to buy.
- Budget for the cable separately. Steam says the Rocksmith Real Tone Cable is sold separately, not included with the game. Its listing describes the cable as the way to connect a real guitar or bass to PC. Steam also says a Ubisoft account is required.
- Check included songs against your needs. Learn & Play has selected content; it does not have the same licensed base-game song collection as the older Remastered edition. Check the listing and relevant store pages for specific songs before purchasing.
- If you own the older Steam edition, pause before downloading. Steam warns existing owners not to download Learn & Play if they want to preserve the older base game’s licensed music.
Steam’s listing establishes the Real Tone Cable as the stated connection option, but it does not establish that generic audio interfaces or third-party adapters are compatible. Do not assume an arbitrary interface will work without a direct compatibility confirmation.

Can you still get the original game or its songs?
Ubisoft announced that the original Rocksmith would leave digital storefronts on October 17, 2021, with downloadable content removed later. The company said existing owners could continue to install, download, re-download, play, and use products they had already purchased. It also said eligible original-game content could still be played in Remastered if the required import access had been purchased before delisting. The notice covers previously acquired content, not a continuing right to buy delisted items: Ubisoft’s original Rocksmith leaving-stores notice.
