Yes—some Xiaomi fitness trackers work with iPhones, but compatibility is model-specific. Xiaomi documents that the Xiaomi Smart Band 9 works with iPhones running iOS 12.0 or later when the phone has Bluetooth 5.1 and the band is paired through the Mi Fitness app. The Smart Band 9 does not pair with Zepp Life.

Mi Fitness can also send selected tracker data to Apple Health, provided permissions are enabled in both apps. If a band will not connect, appears only in the iPhone Bluetooth list, or stops updating Apple Health, the fix usually involves removing the old Bluetooth record, pairing again from Mi Fitness, and checking data permissions.

What iPhone compatibility is actually documented?

Xiaomi’s published requirement applies specifically to the Xiaomi Smart Band 9: it supports devices with Bluetooth 5.1 and Android 8.0 or iOS 12.0 and above. Xiaomi states this as: “The Xiaomi Smart Band 9 supports devices with Bluetooth 5.1 and Android 8.0 or iOS 12.0 and above.” That is a model-specific statement, not proof that every Xiaomi tracker generation has the same iPhone requirements.

Older or newer Xiaomi bands may require a different iOS version, a different companion app, or a different pairing process. Check the support page for the exact model before buying or resetting it. In particular, do not assume that a requirement documented for Smart Band 9 automatically applies to another Xiaomi wearable.

Question Documented answer Important qualification
Does the Xiaomi Smart Band 9 work with an iPhone? Yes, with Bluetooth 5.1 and iOS 12.0 or later. The requirement is stated for Smart Band 9, not all Xiaomi trackers.
Which iPhone app pairs the Smart Band 9? Mi Fitness. Xiaomi says Smart Band 9 does not support pairing with Zepp Life.
Can tracker data reach Apple Health? Selected data can sync through Mi Fitness. You must authorize the categories in Mi Fitness and Apple Health, then allow time for transfer.
Is an iOS minimum documented here for Smart Band 10? Not stated in the cited guidance. The available Smart Band 10 advice concerns background-app syncing, not a universal compatibility specification.

Which app should you use?

Use Mi Fitness for the Smart Band 9. Xiaomi says the band supports pairing and use with Mi Fitness only and does not support pairing with Zepp Life. Installing or opening the wrong Xiaomi app can therefore make a compatible band look unavailable.

Mi Fitness is also the control point for account sign-in, device discovery, permissions, firmware-related communication, and third-party data sharing. Start the setup in Mi Fitness rather than adding the band manually from the iPhone’s Bluetooth page.

How to pair a Xiaomi Smart Band 9 with an iPhone

Follow this sequence for the documented Smart Band 9 setup. Menu wording can change slightly as Xiaomi updates Mi Fitness or as iOS changes its permission screens.

Enjoy incredibly smooth and seamless interaction with crisp, color-accurate images, right on your wrist.
  1. Install and open Mi Fitness. Use the current Mi Fitness app on the iPhone, then sign in with a Xiaomi account.
  2. Grant the requested permissions. Allow the access Mi Fitness requests during setup. Permissions that are declined can prevent discovery, notifications, or health-data transfer.
  3. Open the add-device flow. In Mi Fitness, tap the plus sign and choose Add device.
  4. Choose a discovery method. You can select the matching band if it appears, choose Add model and select Xiaomi Smart Band 9, or scan the band’s QR code.
  5. Confirm on the band. When the pairing prompt appears, tap the check mark on the Smart Band 9.
  6. Confirm on the iPhone. Tap Pair in Mi Fitness to finish the connection.

The key detail is the order: initiate discovery in Mi Fitness, then approve the prompt on the band and phone. Manually selecting an unpaired band in iOS Bluetooth settings is not the documented first-time setup route.

Why the band may appear in Bluetooth but still fail to pair

An entry in iPhone Bluetooth settings does not necessarily mean the band is correctly bound to Mi Fitness. A previous pairing record can block a fresh setup, especially after changing phones, deleting the app, or unpairing only inside Mi Fitness.

For a first pairing that fails

  1. Open the iPhone’s Bluetooth settings and remove the existing Xiaomi band entry if it is listed.
  2. Return to Mi Fitness and start Add device again.
  3. Select the Smart Band 9 by discovery, model selection, or QR scan.
  4. Accept the check mark on the band and tap Pair on the iPhone.

Xiaomi recommends removing an existing Bluetooth listing before trying the Mi Fitness pairing flow again.

For rebinding after an unpair

After unpairing the band in Mi Fitness, also open the iPhone’s Bluetooth settings and choose Forget This Device for the old band record. Only then return to Mi Fitness and bind the tracker again. Leaving the old record behind can cause the app to see a device that iOS still treats as associated with the previous connection.

How to sync Xiaomi tracker data with Apple Health

Mi Fitness can share selected third-party data with Apple Health. The transfer is permission-based: enabling a category in only one place is not enough. You need to select the categories in Mi Fitness and make sure Apple Health allows Mi Fitness to write them.

Enable Health sharing in Mi Fitness

  1. Open Mi Fitness.
  2. Go to Profile.
  3. Open Third-party data.
  4. Choose Health.
  5. Turn on the data categories you want Mi Fitness to send to Apple Health.

Xiaomi’s Smart Band 9 instructions also refer to enabling cloud synchronization where applicable before turning on Health sharing. If your version of Mi Fitness displays a cloud-sync option, enable it as part of the setup.

Check Apple Health permissions

  1. Open the iPhone’s Health app.
  2. Go to Apps and select Mi Fitness.
  3. Review the data types Mi Fitness is allowed to write.
  4. Enable the same categories you selected in Mi Fitness.

The exact labels or location can vary by iOS release and Mi Fitness version, but the principle is the same: both sides must authorize the data. After changing permissions, allow time for the transfer before deciding that synchronization is broken.

What to do when Apple Health shows no new data

1. Compare the category selections

Check that the desired metric is selected under Mi Fitness → Profile → Third-party data → Health, then check the corresponding permission under iPhone Health → Apps → Mi Fitness. A mismatch can leave the tracker connected while one or more categories remain empty.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

2. Wait for the transfer

Health data may not appear immediately after a permission change or a new pairing. Leave the band connected, open Mi Fitness, and give the app time to transfer the records.

3. Submit a Mi Fitness log if data remains missing

If the permissions are correct and no new records appear after waiting, Xiaomi’s Smart Band 9 Active troubleshooting guidance advises submitting a log through Mi Fitness. Include the affected data category and the approximate time the transfer stopped so support can inspect the app record.

When background app behavior interrupts syncing

iOS can remove apps from the background to manage resources. Xiaomi’s troubleshooting guidance for Smart Band 10 says that reopening Mi Fitness after iOS has removed it from the background can reconnect the app and resume synchronization.

This is Smart Band 10-specific guidance in the cited material. Treat it as a practical step for that model, not as a universal explanation for every Xiaomi tracker. For any model, opening Mi Fitness is a reasonable first check when the band is still nearby but the app has stopped updating; if it does not recover, use the model’s documented unpair-and-rebind procedure.

A complete troubleshooting path

The band does not appear in Mi Fitness

  • Confirm that you are using Mi Fitness, not Zepp Life, for Smart Band 9.
  • Check that Bluetooth is enabled on the iPhone.
  • Move the band close to the phone and keep the band’s pairing screen available.
  • If an old band entry is visible in iPhone Bluetooth settings, remove it, then retry Add device in Mi Fitness.
  • Use Add model and select the exact Xiaomi model if automatic discovery does not show it.

The app finds the band, but confirmation fails

  • Approve the check mark on the band first, then tap Pair on the iPhone.
  • If the band was previously paired, unpair it in Mi Fitness and choose Forget This Device in iOS Bluetooth settings before rebinding.
  • Do not leave a stale Bluetooth record while repeatedly attempting a new in-app pairing.

The band connects, but Health remains empty

  • Verify the selected categories in Mi Fitness under Profile → Third-party data → Health.
  • Verify that Apple Health allows Mi Fitness to write those same categories.
  • Wait for synchronization after changing either permission set.
  • Submit a log through Mi Fitness if the data still does not arrive.

Syncing stops after the app has been closed

For Smart Band 10, reopen Mi Fitness to reconnect after iOS removes it from the background. For other models, do not assume the same behavior or remedy is guaranteed; consult the instructions for that exact tracker.

What to check before buying or switching from Android

  • Identify the exact model. Compatibility is not established for every Xiaomi generation by the Smart Band 9 specification.
  • Check the iOS requirement. Smart Band 9 is documented for iOS 12.0 or later with Bluetooth 5.1; another model may differ.
  • Install the required companion app. Smart Band 9 requires Mi Fitness and does not pair with Zepp Life.
  • Plan for Apple Health permissions. Decide which categories you need and authorize them in both Mi Fitness and Health.
  • Expect app-version changes. Xiaomi’s support guidance was checked on October 13, 2026; app screens, supported operating systems, and synchronization behavior can change.

Bottom line for iPhone owners

A Xiaomi fitness tracker can work with an iPhone, but the safe answer is model-by-model. For the Xiaomi Smart Band 9, Xiaomi documents iOS 12.0-or-later support, Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, Mi Fitness pairing, and selected Apple Health synchronization. Pair from inside Mi Fitness, remove stale Bluetooth records before rebinding, authorize Health data in both apps, and treat Smart Band 10 background-sync advice as specific to that model rather than a guarantee for every Xiaomi wearable.
