Usually not wirelessly. Sony’s INZONE support information names smartphones, PCs and PS5 as supported devices, not Xbox. Sony says Bluetooth and its USB transceiver cannot provide a wireless Xbox connection. A 3.5 mm cable may deliver some sound or microphone functions through a compatible Xbox controller, but Sony does not guarantee that connection or party-chat behavior. The exact result depends on the INZONE model and the connection method.

The practical answer

If you want to use a Sony INZONE headset on Xbox, separate the question into two cases:

  • Wireless: Do not expect an INZONE USB dongle or Bluetooth to pair with an Xbox console. Sony’s INZONE FAQ says a wireless connection through Bluetooth or the USB transceiver is not possible for the Xbox devices covered by the FAQ.
  • Wired: A 3.5 mm analog connection can be worth trying when the headset and Xbox controller have compatible ports. Sony says certain features, including audio and microphone, may work through 3.5 mm, but it will not guarantee Xbox support.

That means “works” is not a single yes-or-no result. Game sound, microphone input, party chat, headset buttons and model-specific features can behave differently. Treat a wired connection as a possibility to test, not as certified Xbox compatibility.

Will an INZONE headset work wirelessly on Xbox?

USB transceiver or dongle

Most wireless INZONE models use a supplied USB transceiver for their low-latency connection. Sony’s general INZONE FAQ does not list Xbox as a supported platform and states that a wireless connection through the USB transceiver is not possible for Xbox devices in its scope.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

The limitation is explicit for the INZONE H9 II. Sony’s H9 II support and product information say that its supplied 2.4 GHz dongle does not work with Xbox consoles. Plugging that dongle into an Xbox should therefore not be treated as a workaround, even if the headset works normally with a PC or PS5.

Do not assume that a USB-C plug changes the result. Sony describes the H9 II transceiver as usable with compatible USB-C devices, but that description does not establish Xbox-console support. A console’s USB port, a headset dongle’s radio protocol and the model’s firmware support all have to align; the cited Sony material does not certify that combination for Xbox.

Bluetooth

Sony’s FAQ also says Bluetooth wireless connection is not possible for the Xbox devices covered by that answer. Bluetooth being available on a particular INZONE headset does not mean an Xbox console will accept it as a gaming headset. You should not plan on pairing the headset directly in the Xbox accessories or Bluetooth menus.

For the H9 II, Sony lists Bluetooth support for devices with the required profiles. That is a statement about compatible Bluetooth devices in general, not an Xbox endorsement. It cannot be used to infer wireless game audio or chat on an Xbox.

Can you use an INZONE headset with an Xbox controller cable?

A wired attempt is the only connection route that Sony leaves open in its general guidance. The FAQ says that “certain features (e.g. audio, microphone) may work if you connect using a 3.5mm jack,” while also stating that Sony cannot guarantee support for Xbox devices.

In practice, the controller must provide a compatible headset jack, and the headset must accept the correct 3.5 mm connection. Even when those physical requirements are met, test game audio and microphone or party chat independently. A headset can reproduce sound while its microphone, mute control or chat routing fails.

Wired setup checklist

  1. Identify the exact model. Check the label, packaging or INZONE software on a computer. Similar names do not mean identical transceivers, cables or controls.
  2. Check the controller connection. Confirm that the Xbox controller you intend to use has a compatible 3.5 mm headset jack. If it does not, the analog route described by Sony is not available through that controller.
  3. Use a direct analog connection. Connect the headset’s 3.5 mm cable directly to the controller rather than inserting the wireless USB transceiver or trying to convert the signal through an unverified adapter.
  4. Check game audio. Start a game or system sound and raise the headset and console volume separately. Note whether sound is clean in both ears and whether the volume controls respond.
  5. Check the microphone. Join a party or use an in-game voice test, then ask another player whether your voice is clear. Do not assume that hearing game audio proves microphone support.
  6. Check chat separately from game sound. If the Xbox offers independent game and chat balance controls, move each control while listening for a change. A failed chat path can be caused by the cable, controller, settings or the headset’s own wiring.
  7. Test after restarting. Disconnect and reconnect the cable, restart the controller and console, and repeat the audio and microphone checks. This distinguishes a temporary detection issue from a compatibility limitation.

Because Sony does not guarantee Xbox support, a successful first test should not be interpreted as proof that every feature will work in every game or after every console update.

Model or group Wireless USB transceiver on Xbox Bluetooth on Xbox 3.5 mm wired route What Sony’s material establishes
INZONE H9 II Does not work; Sony explicitly says the supplied 2.4 GHz dongle does not work with Xbox consoles. Not established for Xbox. Bluetooth is described for devices with the required profiles, not for Xbox. Sony lists a wired connection for mobile devices, but does not explicitly certify Xbox use or chat through that connection. Do not buy or keep the H9 II for Xbox wireless use on the expectation that its dongle will work.
INZONE H9, H7, H5 and H3 Not possible according to Sony’s INZONE FAQ scope for Xbox devices. Not possible according to the same FAQ. Some functions may work through 3.5 mm, but Xbox support is not guaranteed. Do not assume microphone, party chat or controls will work merely because analog audio is present.
INZONE H6 Air Not applicable as a wireless headset; Sony describes it as wired-only. Not applicable. It has a 3.5 mm analog cable for devices with a 3.5 mm output. The cited product page does not specifically name Xbox or guarantee chat operation. A controller connection is plausible when the controller has a compatible jack, but Xbox behavior remains unconfirmed.
INZONE E9 Not stated in the cited compatibility material. Not stated. Not stated. Verify model-specific Sony documentation before assuming any Xbox connection.

The H6 Air’s supplied USB-C Audio Box is described for PC and PS5. That information does not establish that the box will carry Xbox audio or chat, so it should not be treated as an Xbox adapter.

What may work—and what is not confirmed

Game audio

With a compatible 3.5 mm connection, game audio is one of the functions Sony says may work. The statement is qualified: Sony does not promise that every INZONE model, controller combination or Xbox software version will deliver it.

Microphone and party chat

Microphone operation is also listed only as a possibility over 3.5 mm. Test it directly in a party or game. A four-pole headset plug, controller jack and console chat path must all be compatible; Sony’s published caveat means you should not assume they are.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Headset controls

Volume wheels, mute buttons, sidetone, game/chat balance and other controls are not guaranteed by the cited Sony guidance. Analog audio can pass while a proprietary control does nothing. Check each control during the wired test instead of relying on the behavior you see on a PC or PS5.

INZONE Hub and console-specific features

Sony’s INZONE information identifies PC and PS5 support for the line, but it does not establish that INZONE Hub settings or other console-specific features transfer to Xbox. Equalizer profiles, firmware options, spatial processing and device controls configured on a computer should not be presumed to operate on the console.

Common connection mistakes

Plugging in the wireless dongle and waiting for a pairing prompt

For Xbox, this is not a reliable setup method. Sony explicitly rules out the H9 II 2.4 GHz dongle and says its general FAQ’s Xbox devices cannot use the INZONE USB transceiver wirelessly.

Trying Bluetooth because the headset supports phones

Phone Bluetooth support does not override Sony’s Xbox limitation. The FAQ says Bluetooth wireless connection is not possible for the Xbox devices it covers.

Testing only by listening

Hearing game sound is not a complete compatibility test. Confirm microphone pickup, party-chat transmission, mute behavior and volume controls separately.

Using an unverified USB or wireless adapter

The cited Sony information does not certify third-party adapters as an Xbox solution. An adapter may change the connector while leaving the underlying headset, microphone or chat compatibility unresolved.

Should you choose an INZONE headset for Xbox?

If Xbox is your primary platform and you need dependable wireless audio and party chat, the Sony documentation does not provide a basis for choosing an INZONE headset for that purpose. In particular, the H9 II should not be purchased for Xbox wireless use because Sony says its 2.4 GHz dongle does not work with Xbox consoles.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If you already own an INZONE headset, try the 3.5 mm route only when your model has an appropriate analog connection and your controller has a compatible jack. The H6 Air is the clearest wired example in Sony’s lineup: Sony specifies a 3.5 mm analog cable for devices with a 3.5 mm output, while its cited page stops short of confirming Xbox or microphone/chat behavior.

Before relying on the setup for regular multiplayer, run a complete test with the games and controller you actually use. If any essential function fails, the Sony caveat means the result is within the documented compatibility limits rather than evidence that a hidden wireless setting is missing.

How to interpret Sony’s compatibility statements

Sony’s UK INZONE FAQ names smartphone, PC and PS5 as the designed or supported device categories. Its answer to the Xbox question is deliberately narrow: some 3.5 mm functions may work, but support is not guaranteed; Bluetooth and USB-transceiver wireless connections are not possible for the Xbox devices in that FAQ.

Sony’s H9 II support article was last modified March 3, 2026, and its product information repeats the specific warning that the 2.4 GHz dongle does not work with Xbox consoles. The H6 Air product information describes its analog and USB-C Audio Box connections without naming Xbox. Those qualifications matter: a statement about a phone, PC or PS5 connection is not an Xbox certification.

Decision checklist

  • Need wireless Xbox audio? Do not count on an INZONE USB transceiver or Bluetooth.
  • Own an H9 II? Its supplied 2.4 GHz dongle is explicitly incompatible with Xbox consoles.
  • Have a 3.5 mm controller jack? A wired test may produce some audio or microphone functions, but results are not guaranteed.
  • Considering the H6 Air? It is wired and includes a 3.5 mm analog connection, yet Sony’s cited page does not confirm Xbox or chat operation.
  • Using another INZONE model? Verify that model’s cable, transceiver and official support statement instead of applying assumptions from a different headset.
  • Need party chat every time? Confirm microphone and chat behavior in your own setup before depending on the headset for multiplayer.
