Yes. Samsung Galaxy Buds can pair with an iPhone over Bluetooth for music, calls and touch controls. The major limitation is software support: Samsung lists only Galaxy Buds+ and Galaxy Buds Live as compatible with its iPhone app. Newer and other listed models use ordinary Bluetooth on iPhone, so some settings and Galaxy ecosystem features are unavailable.

Which Galaxy Buds work with an iPhone?

Samsung’s current U.S. compatibility guidance separates Bluetooth support from app support. The listed models can connect to iOS through Bluetooth, while only two older models are listed as compatible with the Samsung Galaxy Buds iOS app: Galaxy Buds+ and Galaxy Buds Live. See Samsung’s model-by-model guidance at Samsung’s Galaxy Buds iOS compatibility page.

Galaxy Buds model Bluetooth connection to iPhone Samsung Galaxy Buds iOS app App requirement
Galaxy Buds4 Yes, listed by Samsung Not listed as app-compatible Not applicable
Galaxy Buds4 Pro Yes, listed by Samsung Not listed as app-compatible Not applicable
Galaxy Buds3 Yes, listed by Samsung Not listed as app-compatible Not applicable
Galaxy Buds3 Pro Yes, listed by Samsung Not listed as app-compatible Not applicable
Galaxy Buds2 Yes, listed by Samsung Not listed as app-compatible Not applicable
Galaxy Buds Pro Yes, listed by Samsung Not listed as app-compatible Not applicable
Original Galaxy Buds Yes, listed by Samsung Not listed as app-compatible Not applicable
Galaxy Buds Live Yes, listed by Samsung Yes iPhone 7 or later with iOS 10 or later
Galaxy Buds+ Yes, listed by Samsung Yes iPhone 7 or later with iOS 10 or later

The table reflects what Samsung explicitly lists; it does not establish app support for every firmware revision or for models omitted from that compatibility page. For example, the connection guide discusses pairing steps for Buds2 Pro, but the cited iOS compatibility table does not list that model. Do not assume that a model can use the iPhone app merely because it can enter Bluetooth pairing mode.

What you can do over Bluetooth

Samsung’s connection guide says, “Your earbuds can connect to Bluetooth devices for streaming music or making calls.” On an iPhone, that means the basic listening and call functions do not depend on the Samsung app. Samsung also describes touchpad controls as available when the earbuds are Bluetooth-connected. The guide is available at How to connect your Samsung Galaxy earbuds.

Bluetooth pairing does not make an iPhone part of the full Galaxy device ecosystem. Samsung’s documentation identifies specific iOS limitations rather than promising feature parity with a Galaxy phone, so controls can differ by model, firmware and connection method.

What the Samsung iPhone app adds

The Galaxy Buds app is an additional control layer, not a prerequisite for basic Bluetooth audio. Samsung describes the app as providing controls such as battery status, equalizer settings, touchpad settings, Find My Earbuds and software updates for supported models. The App Store listing also names Ambient Sound for Galaxy Buds+ and Active Noise Cancelling for Galaxy Buds Live. Check the current listing at Samsung Galaxy Buds on the App Store.

Samsung lists Galaxy Buds+ and Galaxy Buds Live as the app-compatible models. For the other models in Samsung’s Bluetooth list, installing the app does not turn them into app-supported products. You can still pair those earbuds with iOS, but the phone has no Samsung app interface for the model under Samsung’s stated compatibility rules.

App features can also depend on the installed app and earbud firmware. The cited documentation establishes the model-level support and the controls named above; it does not guarantee that every setting appears identically on every iPhone or firmware version.

iPhone and iOS requirements

There are two different minimum-version statements, and confusing them is a common source of failed setup:

Connection method Minimum iPhone Minimum iOS Applies to
Bluetooth pairing iPhone 5 or later iOS 9.0 or later Samsung’s Bluetooth compatibility note for supported Buds models
Galaxy Buds iOS app iPhone 7 or later iOS 10 or later Galaxy Buds+ and Galaxy Buds Live

These requirements come from Samsung’s compatibility information and the app guidance at Samsung Support. An iPhone 5 or 6 may meet the Bluetooth minimum but cannot meet the stated minimum for the app. Conversely, an iPhone 7 or newer still needs a supported iOS version and one of the two app-compatible models to use the app.

How to pair Galaxy Buds with an iPhone

Option 1: Galaxy Buds+ or Galaxy Buds Live with the app

  1. Confirm that the iPhone is an iPhone 7 or later running iOS 10 or later.
  2. Install the Samsung Galaxy Buds app from the App Store.
  3. Put the earbuds into Bluetooth pairing mode. Samsung provides model-specific pairing instructions in its connection guide because the procedure differs between original Buds, Buds+, Buds Live, Buds Pro, Buds2/Buds2 Pro and Buds3/Buds3 Pro.
  4. Open the app and follow its device-connection prompts. Keep the earbuds close to the iPhone while the app searches.
  5. After connection, review the controls the app exposes for that model, such as battery information, equalizer, touchpad settings, Find My Earbuds or updates. The exact list can vary with the model and software version.

Option 2: Any model listed for Bluetooth, without the app

  1. Put the earbuds into pairing mode using the instructions for the exact model in Samsung’s connection guide.
  2. On the iPhone, open Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth on.
  3. Wait for the Galaxy Buds name to appear under available devices, then tap it.
  4. Accept the pairing request if iOS displays one. Once the status changes to connected, audio and calls can use the earbuds.

For models that Samsung does not list as app-compatible, this Bluetooth route is the supported way to connect an iPhone. The exact name shown in iOS can vary by model, but it should identify the earbuds rather than the charging case.

Features that are unavailable or limited on iOS

Samsung’s guide specifically lists the following as unavailable when Galaxy Buds are used with iOS:

  • iOS notifications from the earbuds connection.
  • Gaming mode.
  • Spotify integration.

Those limitations are separate from ordinary audio playback and calls. A pair can connect successfully while still lacking one or more of these integrations. Do not interpret a successful Bluetooth connection as evidence that every Android or Galaxy feature is present on an iPhone.

For app-supported Buds+ and Buds Live, Samsung and the App Store listing identify additional settings, but availability is model-specific. Ambient Sound is named for Buds+, while Active Noise Cancelling is named for Buds Live. The documentation does not establish that every setting is interchangeable between the two models or that each option appears in every app release.

Can Galaxy Buds connect to more than one device?

Samsung says the earbuds cannot be connected to multiple devices simultaneously. If the Buds are currently connected to another phone, tablet or computer, disconnect them there before trying to pair with the iPhone, then place the earbuds back into pairing mode if necessary.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Samsung’s guide describes switching between devices, but the cited compatibility information does not establish automatic or seamless switching with an iPhone for every model. Treat switching as a manual reconnection task unless your particular model and software explicitly provide another method.

Troubleshooting an iPhone connection

The earbuds do not appear in Bluetooth

  • Verify that the earbuds are in pairing mode, not merely removed from the case or already connected elsewhere.
  • Use the pairing-mode procedure for the exact model in Samsung’s connection guide; Samsung supplies different procedures for its generations of Buds.
  • Check the iPhone requirement. Samsung’s Bluetooth note starts at iPhone 5 with iOS 9.0 or later.
  • If another device has an active connection, disconnect it because the earbuds cannot maintain simultaneous connections.

The app cannot find the earbuds

  • Confirm that the model is Galaxy Buds+ or Galaxy Buds Live. Samsung lists those as the iOS-app models.
  • Confirm that the iPhone is an iPhone 7 or later running iOS 10 or later. Meeting the older Bluetooth minimum is not enough for app use.
  • Pair the earbuds as Bluetooth devices first if the app’s setup flow directs you to do so, then reopen the app and follow its connection prompts.

A setting or integration is missing

First check whether the setting belongs to the iOS app or to a Galaxy-phone feature. Battery, equalizer, touchpad, Find My Earbuds and update controls are described as app functions for supported models; iOS notifications, Gaming mode and Spotify integration are listed as unavailable. If the model is not Buds+ or Buds Live, the missing Samsung app controls are expected under Samsung’s compatibility list rather than evidence of a defective Bluetooth connection.

Should iPhone owners buy or keep Galaxy Buds?

Galaxy Buds make practical sense with an iPhone when your priority is basic wireless listening and calling and you already own the earbuds. Bluetooth support gives you those core functions on the listed models. The compromise is control: most listed Buds models do not have Samsung’s iOS app, and Samsung documents several iOS feature exclusions.

If you need app-based battery information, equalizer or touchpad customization on the iPhone, limit your shortlist to Galaxy Buds+ or Galaxy Buds Live according to Samsung’s current iOS support page. If you are considering a newer model, verify its current iOS support before purchase rather than assuming that Bluetooth compatibility includes app access. Samsung’s model list and the App Store requirements can change as products and software are updated.

Bottom line

Yes, Samsung Galaxy Buds work with iPhones through Bluetooth. Samsung lists Galaxy Buds4, Buds4 Pro, Buds3, Buds3 Pro, Buds2, Buds Pro and the original Galaxy Buds for Bluetooth use on iOS, and it lists Galaxy Buds+ and Galaxy Buds Live for both Bluetooth and the Galaxy Buds iOS app. Bluetooth supports music, calls and touch controls, but iOS notifications, Gaming mode and Spotify integration are unavailable according to Samsung. Check the model and iPhone requirement before pairing: Bluetooth support starts at iPhone 5 with iOS 9, while the app requires iPhone 7 or later with iOS 10.
