No. Ghost Hunt Puzzle #9 in Disney Dreamlight Valley is a fixed photography scavenger hunt, not a branching dialogue puzzle. There is no documented answer to choose, conversation branch to unlock, or alternate reward route. Your result is determined by successfully photographing every required ghost.
The only meaningful objective is completion: activate the disposable camera, photograph the ghosts around the Haunted Floating Festival, and collect the reward pouch that appears afterward. This guide explains the exact sequence, what counts as a successful photograph, when the hunt is available, and what to do if the pouch is not where you expect.
What Ghost Hunt Puzzle #9 actually is
Ghost Hunt is one of the activities in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Haunted Floating Festival. Despite being labeled a puzzle, it does not use the sort of branching decision found in a dialogue quest. The game does not ask you to select one answer from several choices, align with one character, or sacrifice one reward for another.

#1 Best Overall
Consequently, there is no “wrong answer” in Ghost Hunt. Choosing a different ghost to photograph first, changing the direction in which you search, or taking an extra photograph does not create a different story branch. The game checks whether the required photographs registered, not which sequence you used.
When Ghost Hunt is available
The Haunted Floating Festival is scheduled to run from October 7 through October 31, 2026. Ghost Hunt unlocks on October 18, 2026, so the activity is not expected to be available during the first part of the festival. The published dates describe the 2026 event; a future rerun could use different dates or rules.
If the festival is visible but Ghost Hunt cannot be started, first check the calendar date and confirm that the event has reached its October 18 unlock. Once the event window closes on October 31, the activity should not be treated as permanently available unless Gameloft announces a later rerun.

1. Enter the Haunted Floating Festival
Travel to the Haunted Floating Festival and enter the Haunted House. The starting interaction is inside the house rather than at an ordinary valley quest marker, so searching the main valley first will not begin the activity.
2. Pick up the sparkling disposable camera
In the first room of the Haunted House, look for the sparkling disposable camera and interact with it. This is the required activation step. The camera is an in-game quest object; you do not need a physical camera, a console accessory, or any other special equipment.

3. Photograph the ghosts
Leave the house and search the festival grounds for the ghosts. Use Disney Dreamlight Valley’s built-in camera mode to take a photograph of each one. A successful photograph is confirmed when that ghost disappears. If a ghost remains in place, the image did not count as a successful capture, so line up another shot and try again.
You must register all 10 ghosts. The sources do not specify a required route or numbered sequence, and no order-dependent outcome has been reported. You can therefore move through the grounds in whatever pattern is easiest for you, provided every ghost eventually disappears.

4. Collect the reward pouch
After the final successful photograph, look for the reward pouch near the last ghost you photographed. Interact with the pouch to finish the activity and receive the reward. The pouch is a separate pickup, so photographing the last ghost does not necessarily collect the item automatically.
Does the order of photographs matter?
No documented mechanic makes the order matter. There is no stated “correct” first ghost, no penalty for visiting areas in an unusual order, and no alternate ending tied to the path you take. The safest interpretation of the published instructions is that completion depends only on getting all 10 successful photographs.
This gives you flexibility when a ghost is easier to reach from your current position. You can photograph a nearby target immediately, circle back to a missed target later, or stop and resume your search without trying to preserve a particular sequence. The game’s success signal is disappearance, so use that visual change to track which targets have counted.

Is there a wrong answer or a hidden choice?
There is no documented dialogue answer in Ghost Hunt Puzzle #9. The disposable camera interaction is an activation step, not a question with multiple responses. Taking a photograph also does not present a menu of outcomes: either the ghost disappears and the capture counts, or it remains and you need to try again.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThat distinction matters if you are expecting a conventional riddle. Do not wait for a response list, search for a secret phrase, or restart the quest because you selected a particular target first. Nothing in the official objective or the available walkthrough mechanics indicates a branch that can lock you out of the reward.
What reward do you receive?
Gameloft states that photographing the full set lets players “send them packing and claim a new furniture item.” The reward is a placeable Ghost furniture item for your valley. It is not an alternate character, costume, dialogue outcome, or choice-dependent bonus.
The reward is delivered through the pouch that appears after the final capture. Because the pouch is a physical object in the event world, finish the interaction with it before leaving if you want to verify that the item has been awarded immediately.
Where is the reward pouch?
Under normal conditions, the pouch appears near the last ghost you photographed. “Near” should not be read as a fixed coordinate: its exact position can vary, so look around the area rather than expecting it to occupy the ghost’s precise starting spot.

A community wiki documents a bug in which the pouch can appear in a random biome in the main valley instead of inside the Haunted Floating Festival. If the pouch is not near the final ghost, search each main-valley biome before assuming that the reward failed. The misplaced-pouch behavior changes where you need to look, not the reward or the completion requirement.

Practical ways to avoid losing track of ghosts
Use disappearance as your checklist
The most reliable confirmation is visual: a ghost that vanishes has been counted. If you move away while it is still visible, treat it as unfinished rather than assuming the game recorded the shot.
Choose your own search pattern
Because the sources do not impose an order, pick a pattern that fits the festival layout you see. You can sweep one section at a time, follow the paths outward from the Haunted House, or photograph targets opportunistically. The pattern is a navigation aid only; it does not alter the reward.
Delay the final exit until the pouch is collected
After the last ghost disappears, pause to locate and interact with the pouch. If it is absent, perform the festival-area and main-valley checks before concluding that the activity is broken. This separates a misplaced reward object from an unsuccessful photograph.

What is and is not established about alternate outcomes
The official objective and walkthroughs establish a single completion route: activate the camera, photograph the required ghosts, and claim the furniture reward. They do not describe branching choices, order-sensitive rewards, or multiple endings. No independent statistic has been published showing different success rates for different photograph orders, and no alternate reward path has been documented.
Therefore, guides that promise a special answer, secret sequence, or superior ghost order are adding a mechanic that the published instructions do not support. For this puzzle, completeness of the ghost search and correct camera registration are the decisions that affect whether you finish.
