That claim is not verified: the available sources do not identify the auditor study implied by the title. Without the original paper, its authors, methods, sample and results, it is not possible to say whether taking an investor perspective changes auditors’ ratings of CEO misconduct.
What is—and is not—established?
No identified study in the available sources demonstrates that auditors rate CEO misconduct as more significant when prompted to adopt an investor perspective. The evidence also does not establish a study date, jurisdiction, sample, experimental design, measure of misconduct severity or effect size. The title’s assertion should therefore be treated as an unverified claim, not a reported research finding.

What related research does the claim refer to?
A surfaced abstract concerns investor reactions to CEO succession after misconduct. It distinguishes integrity failures from competence failures and discusses responses to outside, inside and interim successors. That is research about investors’ reactions to succession choices—not auditors’ assessments of misconduct severity—so it does not confirm the claim in the title. Source

A separate Southern California Law Review article describes public-company audits as providing investors with reasonable assurance that financial statements are free from material misstatement due to error or fraud. It also discusses auditors’ gatekeeper role and independence. This provides general context for the importance of audit judgments, but it is not evidence that an investor prompt changes how auditors assess CEO misconduct. Source

What would be needed to verify the claim?
Verification requires the original paper and enough detail to distinguish its actual finding from adjacent research. In particular, a reader would need to confirm the authors and publication, date and jurisdiction, how the study defined CEO misconduct and its significance, who participated, how the investor-perspective prompt was compared with another condition, and what results were reported.
Until those details are established, no practical recommendation for auditors or conclusion about the size or direction of an effect is supported.
