Choose the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P if you need two optical perspectives in a pocket camera. Its 20mm-equivalent wide camera covers the same everyday view as the Osmo Pocket 4, while a second 60mm-equivalent medium-tele camera gives portraits, interviews, products and distant subjects a tighter frame without moving the camera. Choose the Pocket 4 when that 20mm view is sufficient and you prefer the lighter body, 4GB more built-in storage and DJI’s longer stated battery-test result.

The 4P is not a two-angle recorder: only one lens operates during shooting, and DJI says the camera switches between them according to zoom level. The often-quoted $620 versus $450 comparison is also not a verified, like-for-like global price. Current listings vary by country and bundle, so treat the lens decision as the primary difference and check a same-market SKU before buying.

The short answer: buy for focal-length flexibility, not a higher frame-rate ceiling

The Osmo Pocket 4P and Osmo Pocket 4 share the core pocket-gimbal concept, a 2-inch touchscreen, three microphones, normal video up to 4K/60fps and 4K slow motion up to 240fps. The defining hardware change is the 4P’s second camera. DJI lists a 20mm-equivalent f/2.0 wide camera with a 1-inch CMOS sensor and a 60mm-equivalent f/1.8 medium-tele camera with a 1/1.28-inch CMOS sensor. The Pocket 4 has only the 20mm-equivalent f/2.0, 1-inch camera.

That second optical viewpoint matters when you cannot walk closer, when a wide perspective makes faces or products look too small, or when an interview needs a tighter composition without changing the camera position. It does not automatically make every clip sharper or faster. Both models reach the same headline 4K/240fps maximum, and the 4P’s medium-tele camera uses a smaller sensor than its wide camera.

What the Pocket 4P’s dual-lens design actually does

20mm-equivalent wide camera

The 4P’s wide camera matches the Pocket 4’s listed 20mm-equivalent focal length, f/2.0 aperture and 1-inch CMOS sensor. This is the natural setting for walking videos, travel scenes, room overviews, self-recording at arm’s length and any shot where fitting more of the environment matters. Because both models use this same wide-camera specification, the 4P does not create a fundamental advantage for a single wide establishing shot.

60mm-equivalent medium-tele camera

The extra 60mm-equivalent f/1.8 camera narrows the view for a head-and-shoulders interview, a presenter standing farther from the tripod, a product detail or a subject across a small room. Its 1/1.28-inch CMOS sensor is smaller than the 1-inch sensor in the wide camera, so the specification does not support claiming identical low-light or depth-of-field performance between the two lenses. The benefit established by DJI’s specifications is optical framing flexibility, not a guaranteed image-quality lead in every condition.

It cannot record both lenses at once

DJI Support’s beginner guide describes the 4P as having a “physical dual-lenses design (20mm wide-angle lens + 60 mm med-tele lens).” Its FAQ clarifies that only one lens operates during shooting and that the camera switches according to zoom level. In practical terms, you get one recorded angle at a time. The 4P is therefore a camera with two selectable optical perspectives, not a device that captures a wide and tele angle simultaneously for later editing.

How the extra focal length changes real shooting

Interviews and talking-head videos

A 20mm-equivalent lens is forgiving when the camera is close, but it includes substantial background and can make a face look less flattering if the camera is positioned too near. The 4P’s 60mm-equivalent view lets you place the camera farther away and fill the frame with the speaker. That can simplify a fixed interview setup in a small studio, classroom or office: leave the camera in one position and change to the tighter optical view instead of rebuilding the tripod position.

The Pocket 4 can still make an interview, but you must accept the wider composition or physically move the camera. If your format always uses a wide environmental shot, the second camera may add little value.

Products, demonstrations and tabletop work

For a product demonstration, the wide camera shows the presenter, hands and surroundings. The 60mm-equivalent camera can isolate a connector, label, control or texture while the camera remains outside the work area. This is a use-case inference from the focal lengths, not a claim of an independent sharpness test. Check the focus behavior and lighting in your own setup before committing to a production workflow.

Travel and distant subjects

The medium-tele camera helps when a viewpoint is physically fixed by a barrier, stage edge or narrow trail. It is not a substitute for a long telephoto lens: 60mm equivalent is a moderate reach, and the 4P’s listed digital zoom can extend magnification only by computational cropping. For landscapes and room tours where breadth matters most, both cameras’ 20mm-equivalent wide view is the relevant specification.

Video modes, slow motion and zoom: avoid three common mix-ups

4K/60fps is the normal ceiling listed for both

DJI lists normal video up to 4K/60fps for the Pocket 4 and Pocket 4P. The 4P specification also lists 4K/100, 120, 200 and 240fps slow-motion modes for both lenses. The Pocket 4 lists 4K slow motion up to 240fps. Therefore, buying the 4P solely for a higher frame-rate maximum is not justified by the published specifications.

Optical 60mm is not the same as digital zoom

On the 4P, switching to the 60mm-equivalent camera changes the optical perspective before digital enlargement. DJI separately lists digital-zoom ceilings of up to 12× for the 4P’s listed video modes and up to 4× for the Pocket 4’s listed video modes. Those figures should not be presented as equivalent reach: digital zoom enlarges or crops the image, while the 4P’s second camera provides a different physical focal length. The usable result also depends on light, subject detail and the recording mode.

Only one lens contributes to a clip

If a shot crosses the zoom threshold, the 4P can switch cameras according to its control logic. Plan a deliberate framing change rather than assuming a continuous two-camera composition. For a locked-off interview, choose the perspective you want before recording; for a moving vlog, keep the composition within one lens’s useful range unless a visible change is acceptable.

Battery life and storage: the base model has small but measurable advantages

Battery figures are controlled tests

DJI lists 240 minutes for the Pocket 4 and 210 minutes for the Pocket 4P. Both results come from the same stated setup: 25°C, 1080p/24fps in a 16:9 format, Wi-Fi off and the screen off. They are useful for comparing the manufacturer’s test conditions, but they are not a promise of 240 or 210 minutes in 4K, slow motion, cold weather or normal touchscreen use. The 4P’s second camera does not come with a longer listed runtime.

Internal capacity and microSD expansion

The Pocket 4 includes 107GB of built-in storage; the 4P includes 103GB. Both support microSD cards up to 1TB. DJI’s 4P FAQ estimates that 103GB can hold about 210 minutes of 4K/60fps video at standard bitrate. That is a capacity estimate, not a battery-duration measurement, and recording bitrate or file-management settings can change the result. DJI lists recommended U3, A2, V30 microSDXC options, so choose a card that meets the camera’s current compatibility guidance rather than relying on capacity alone.

Optional battery handle

The 4P FAQ says a fully charged Battery Handle can add up to 130 minutes when recording 1080p/24fps with the same 25°C, Wi-Fi-off and screen-off conditions. Confirm that the exact handle SKU is compatible with the Pocket 4P before purchase; bundle accessories and model support are not interchangeable assumptions. Treat the 130-minute figure as another controlled-test result, not an all-modes guarantee.

Price: why the $620 versus $450 headline is not a universal comparison

The supplied title’s prices should not be repeated as if they were a verified, same-country, same-bundle pair. A DJI Canada-region store result accessed October 13, 2026, showed USD $619 for the Pocket 4P Standard Combo and USD $699 for the 4P Vlog Combo. A surfaced DJI comparison result showed the Pocket 4 from USD $477. That result did not establish an exact $450 Pocket 4 price or prove that the two products contained equivalent accessories.

Which model fits your shooting style?

Choose the Pocket 4P when the 60mm perspective solves a recurring problem

  • You record interviews or presentations and need a tighter head-and-shoulders frame without moving the camera.
  • You film products, crafts or demonstrations where detail shots must come from a fixed position.
  • You work in locations where stepping closer is impossible or would disturb the subject.
  • You want one pocket camera that can switch between a wide environmental view and a moderate tele view.
  • The extra 39.5g body weight, 4GB less internal storage and shorter manufacturer test figure are acceptable trade-offs.

Choose the Pocket 4 when one wide viewpoint covers the job

  • Your videos are primarily walking, travel, room-tour or self-recorded pieces that benefit from a 20mm-equivalent view.
  • You rarely need a tighter optical composition and can move the camera when necessary.
  • You value the lighter 190.5g body, 107GB internal storage and 240-minute stated test result.
  • You want to spend less in the same market and bundle after confirming a current listing.
  • You need the same listed 4K/60fps normal video and 4K/240fps slow-motion ceiling without paying for a second camera.

Do not decide from the combo name alone

Standard and Vlog Combos can contain different accessories. DJI’s Pocket 4 manual lists bundle-dependent items such as a clamp, 1/4-inch-thread handle, fill light, mini tripod, Pocket 3 wide-angle lens and Pocket 4 battery handle. It also says accessories can be bought separately. Confirm the exact regional SKU and its contents for the 4P; do not assume a Pocket 4 bundle transfers unchanged to the 4P.

A practical setup workflow for choosing the right lens

  1. Define the shot before recording. Decide whether the clip needs an environmental 20mm-equivalent view or a tighter 60mm-equivalent perspective. This prevents discovering after filming that the subject occupies too little of the frame.
  2. Mount the camera securely. Use the included or separately purchased handle, clamp or tripod only after checking the selected combo’s contents and thread compatibility. The accessories listed for one bundle are not proof that another SKU includes them.
  3. Set the recording mode. Select normal 4K/60fps when motion detail is more important than slow motion, or choose an available 4K high-frame-rate mode when you intend to slow footage in editing. The 4P lists 100, 120, 200 and 240fps slow-motion options for both lenses.
  4. Use the zoom control to request your framing. On the 4P, lens selection follows the zoom level; only one lens operates while recording. Treat the 60mm camera as an optical framing change, not as a second recorded angle.
  5. Check storage and power. The 4P’s 103GB estimate of about 210 minutes at 4K/60fps is a storage guideline. Insert a compatible microSD card for longer sessions, and charge the camera or a confirmed-compatible handle before a fixed interview.
  6. Run a short test in the real location. Check framing, subject distance, sound and exposure under the lighting you will actually use. Published specifications do not establish identical image quality between the 1-inch wide sensor and the 1/1.28-inch medium-tele sensor.

Accessories and compatibility decisions

Accessory or service Why it may help Verification required
microSD card up to 1TB Expands beyond the 103GB 4P or 107GB Pocket 4 internal storage. Use a card meeting DJI’s current U3, A2, V30 microSDXC guidance.
DJI Mic series equipment DJI’s launch information says the 4P integrates with DJI Mic products, which can suit interviews and vlogs. Confirm the exact transmitter, receiver, firmware and regional kit compatibility.
Battery Handle The 4P FAQ reports up to 130 additional minutes under its 1080p/24fps test setup. Verify the precise handle SKU supports Pocket 4P and remember the figure is conditional.
Clamp, 1/4-inch handle, fill light or mini tripod Useful for fixed interviews, tabletop work and hands-free framing. Check whether the item is in the selected combo or must be purchased separately.
DJI Care Refresh DJI Support describes coverage examples for accidental damage. Confirm market, terms, price and availability on the official product page.

Pitfalls that can lead to the wrong purchase

Assuming dual lens means dual recording

The 4P does not capture two synchronized views. If your editing plan requires a wide safety angle and a simultaneous close-up, you need two cameras or a different multi-camera setup.

Comparing a Vlog Combo with a bare camera

A higher bundle price may reflect a fill light, tripod, handle or other accessories rather than a camera-only premium. Compare identical contents before calculating an upgrade cost.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Treating manufacturer runtime as universal

The 210-minute and 240-minute figures use unusually conservative display and wireless settings at 1080p/24fps. Recording 4K, using high frame rates, powering microphones or filming in cold conditions can produce a different result.

Calling digital zoom optical reach

The 4P’s up-to-12× listed digital zoom is not equivalent to its 60mm optical camera. Keep those specifications separate when evaluating detail and framing.

Assuming all regional stock is interchangeable

Prices, taxes, warranty coverage, launch timing and accessories differ by market. A Canada-region USD listing and a UK pound-denominated report cannot establish what a buyer in another country will pay today.

Buying checklist

  • Confirm the exact model name: Pocket 4 or Pocket 4P.
  • For a 4P, verify that the 60mm-equivalent camera is useful for your recurring shots.
  • Compare Standard Combo with Standard Combo, or Vlog Combo with Vlog Combo.
  • Record the country, currency, tax treatment and date of the listing.
  • Check current stock, seller authorization, return policy and warranty region.
  • Confirm included accessories instead of inferring them from another model’s manual.
  • Budget for a compatible microSD card if 103GB or 107GB is insufficient.
  • Verify DJI Mic and Battery Handle compatibility for the exact SKU and firmware.
  • Remember that 4K/240fps is available on both models, so slow motion alone is not an upgrade reason.

Verdict

The DJI Osmo Pocket 4P is the more capable framing tool because its physical 20mm and 60mm-equivalent cameras cover two useful perspectives from one pocket-sized body. Buy it when tighter portraits, interviews, products or distant subjects justify that flexibility and when you accept its 230g weight, 103GB storage and 210-minute controlled-test result. The Osmo Pocket 4 is the more rational choice when a 20mm view is enough: it is lighter, has slightly more internal storage and a longer stated battery-test result while retaining the same listed 4K/60fps and 4K/240fps ceilings. Resolve the price question with a current, same-country, same-bundle listing rather than relying on the unverified $620/$450 headline.
