Verdict: The DJI Osmo Pocket 4P’s defining upgrade is a genuine second camera, not a software crop. Its 20mm-equivalent wide camera handles walk-and-talk video, while a separate 60mm-equivalent med-tele camera gives interviews and people shots a tighter perspective. That flexibility makes the 4P more useful than a single-lens pocket gimbal for creators who regularly change framing, but the headline specifications need careful qualification: DJI’s advertised 17 stops apply to D-Log 2 at 1× zoom, the two cameras do not record simultaneously, and the advertised 12× zoom is not all optical.
What the Osmo Pocket 4P actually changes
The Osmo Pocket 4P is a 230 g handheld gimbal camera with two dedicated camera modules. The wide module is a 20mm-equivalent camera with a 1-inch CMOS sensor and an f/2.0 aperture. The med-tele module is a 60mm-equivalent camera with its own 1/1.28-inch CMOS sensor and an f/1.8 aperture. DJI describes that longer view as an optical camera, meaning it is produced by a separate lens and sensor rather than by cropping the wide camera’s image.
The cameras switch as you change zoom or focal-length options; DJI says they do not capture the same take concurrently and merge the feeds computationally. That distinction matters. You cannot record a wide and 60mm angle at once for a later edit, and you should choose the camera before a shot in which reframing flexibility is important.
For a creator moving between a presenter at arm’s length and a detail shot across a room, this is the practical appeal: one pocket-sized gimbal can provide two genuinely different perspectives without carrying an interchangeable-lens camera. It is less transformative if you mostly shoot at one fixed distance, because the single-camera Pocket 4 already covers that workflow at a lower listed UK starting price.

DJI introduced the camera at Cannes on May 15, 2026, presenting it for interviews, vlogging, people-focused storytelling and mobile production. DJI’s announcement says the system can integrate with its Mic series and stabilizer products, although the announcement excerpt does not identify specific microphone models. The later UK store listing gives the Pocket 4P a from-price of £529, while the same listing shows Pocket 4 at £445 and Pocket 3 at £262 when accessed. Those are regional listing prices, not universal or permanent prices; check the DJI UK product page for the current local figure and package.
Key specifications, with the limits attached
| Feature | DJI-listed specification | What it means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| Wide camera | 20mm equivalent; 1-inch CMOS; f/2.0 | Broad view for handheld presentation, travel and interiors; manufacturer specification. |
| Med-tele camera | 60mm equivalent; 1/1.28-inch CMOS; f/1.8 | Tighter framing for faces and details from a separate optical camera; manufacturer specification. |
| Dynamic range | Up to 17 stops in D-Log 2 | DJI’s claim, not an independently verified laboratory result in the sources reviewed. |
| D-Log 2 limitation | 10-bit D-Log 2 supports 1× zoom only | The advertised log-mode range should not be assumed at other zoom settings. |
| Slow motion | Up to 4K/240 fps wide; 4K/200 fps med-tele | Different maximum frame rates apply to the two modules. |
| Screen | 2.0-inch, 556 × 314, 1000 nits | A bright built-in monitor for framing outdoors; listed by DJI. |
| Weight | 230 g | Manufacturer-listed weight, excluding any optional accessories. |
| Zoom | Dedicated 3× optical viewpoint; up to 12× advertised zoom | Only the 60mm viewpoint is optical. Higher settings use digital or lossless-zoom processing. |
The 17-stop figure needs especially disciplined interpretation. DJI states that the maximum dynamic range is reached in D-Log 2, but its specification page also limits 10-bit D-Log 2 to 1× zoom. Therefore, the 17-stop claim cannot be presented as a result available across every lens, zoom level or picture profile. No independent benchmark validating that number was established in the reviewed material.
How the two-lens system behaves while shooting
Switching focal lengths
The wide camera gives a 20mm-equivalent perspective suited to a presenter holding the camera, a group in a confined room or a moving establishing shot. Selecting the 60mm-equivalent module narrows the angle of view and makes a face or object occupy more of the frame from the same camera position. Because the med-tele lens has its own 1/1.28-inch sensor and f/1.8 aperture, it is not simply enlarging pixels from the wide module.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe hand-off between modules is a shot decision, not a hidden multi-camera recording mode. DJI’s description says the cameras do not record simultaneously and merge footage. If you need both angles for editing, record separate takes or use another camera for the second viewpoint.
Understanding 12× zoom
DJI advertises zoom up to 12× and identifies the 60mm camera as a dedicated 3× optical viewpoint relative to the wide camera. That makes “12×” an overall zoom range, not 12× optical magnification. TechRadar’s July 30, 2026 review calls the 12× result acceptable in a pinch but advises staying at or below 6× when image quality is the priority. That is an independent reviewer judgment, not a DJI performance guarantee.

For a quality-conscious workflow, treat the wide and 60mm settings as the important choices, use intermediate lossless options when available, and reserve the highest digital settings for situations where getting the shot matters more than fine detail. Do not expect a digitally enlarged 12× frame to match a dedicated long lens.
Slow motion and picture profiles
The wide module is specified for up to 4K at 240 frames per second, while the med-tele module is specified for up to 4K at 200 frames per second. Those are manufacturer-listed maxima; the practical recording mode, available shutter speeds, crop, storage demand and playback requirements should be confirmed in the current regional manual before planning a production around them.
D-Log 2 is the profile associated with DJI’s “up to 17 stops” statement, but 10-bit D-Log 2 is limited to 1× zoom. If you plan a log workflow, decide whether preserving grading latitude or using the 60mm camera is more important for each shot. The sources do not establish that the med-tele module reaches the same dynamic-range figure in every mode.
Who benefits most from the 4P
Interview and people-focused creators
The 60mm-equivalent view can give a seated interview a more natural, less wide-angle appearance when you have room to step back. It can also isolate a face or detail without physically moving the gimbal as close. The 20mm camera remains useful for the opening context, a two-person frame or a host addressing the viewer.
DJI positions the camera for compact professional workflows and says it can integrate with the DJI Mic series. The announcement does not name exact compatible models, so confirm the current compatibility list before buying a microphone. A wireless microphone is most useful when the subject is several steps away, when camera movement would make a wired connection awkward, or when room noise makes a close camera position undesirable.

Vloggers and mobile journalists
A pocket gimbal removes the need to carry a separate stabilizer and camera body. The wide lens supports walk-and-talk coverage, while the tele lens lets you capture a sign, expression or action without ending the shot to change hardware. The 2.0-inch, 1000-nit display is specified for outdoor visibility, although screen brightness alone does not guarantee easy viewing in every lighting condition.

If your work is almost entirely wide self-filming, the second module may add cost and menu decisions without changing your results. The UK listing accessed for this review placed the Pocket 4 at £445 and the Pocket 3 at £262, compared with £529 for the Pocket 4P. Those figures can change and apply only to that listing and market. A single-camera model may be the more rational purchase when a 60mm perspective is occasional rather than central to your work.
Portability, controls and operating trade-offs
At 230 g, the Pocket 4P is lighter than a conventional interchangeable-lens camera with a stabilizer, and its integrated gimbal reduces setup steps. The trade-off is a smaller control surface and a fixed ecosystem: you cannot swap either module for a wider, faster or longer lens. The camera’s compactness is most valuable when it means you will actually carry it; it does not replace the flexibility of a larger camera for demanding lighting, lens selection or simultaneous multi-angle work.
Digital Camera World’s Adam Juniper reviewed a loaned unit before release and identified the separate remote control as a drawback. Treat that as the publication’s observation, not a firsthand finding here. If you plan to operate the camera from a tripod, across a room or during a solo presentation, include the remote-control workflow in your buying decision and verify whether the required controller is included in your chosen package.
The reviewed sources do not establish a complete tracking specification or a detailed remote-control feature list. Before purchase, check DJI’s current manual for subject tracking behavior, supported operating distances, phone requirements and which functions remain available when the camera is mounted away from you.

What comes in the box and what may cost extra
DJI’s Singapore store page lists a USB-C to USB-C PD cable, fill light, wrist strap and a handle with a 1/4-inch thread in the inspected box-content section. That is evidence for the Singapore package shown, not proof that every country or bundle includes the same items. Regional SKUs can differ, so compare the exact contents beside the local price before ordering.
The sources reviewed do not establish the Pocket 4P’s internal-storage capacity, maximum supported microSD capacity or required card-speed class. Do not choose a card based on a generic recommendation: check DJI’s current compatibility table for the recording modes you intend to use, especially 4K high-frame-rate capture. Likewise, verify whether a card is included in the specific bundle; the inspected information does not establish that it is included in every market.
Audio can create another cost. DJI says the camera integrates with its Mic series, but the cited announcement does not identify exact models or retailer terms. Confirm compatibility and regional availability before adding a wireless microphone to the budget.

How the Pocket 4P compares with the Pocket 4 and Pocket 3

|---|---|---|---|
| Camera configuration | 20mm wide plus dedicated 60mm med-tele camera | Single-camera design, according to DJI’s UK product positioning | Single-camera design, according to DJI’s UK product positioning |

| Why choose it | Two optical viewpoints in one pocket gimbal | Lower-cost single-lens Pocket workflow | Lowest listed entry price among the three |
| What remains to verify | Current price, bundle, card support and regional stock | Current price and bundle | Current price and bundle |
The table reflects DJI’s UK listing as accessed, not a permanent price guarantee. The meaningful product difference is the second camera. If your assignments routinely alternate between a wide presenter shot and a tighter people shot, the premium can buy a capability that a digital crop cannot reproduce. If you rarely need that change in perspective, the lower-priced single-camera options may leave more budget for audio, storage and support.
Strengths and limitations at a glance
- Strength: A genuine 60mm-equivalent optical viewpoint in a 230 g integrated gimbal.
- Strength: A wide 20mm-equivalent camera for self-filming and context, plus a tighter module for faces and details.
- Strength: DJI lists high-speed 4K capture up to 240 fps wide and 200 fps med-tele.
- Strength: A bright 2.0-inch, 1000-nit display is specified for framing in daylight.
- Limitation: The two cameras do not record simultaneously, so there is no dual-angle safety take from one device.
- Limitation: D-Log 2’s 10-bit mode is limited to 1× zoom, narrowing the conditions for DJI’s advertised 17-stop range.
- Limitation: The advertised 12× zoom is not 12× optical; TechRadar recommends staying at or below 6× when quality is the priority.
- Limitation: Package contents, prices, card support and availability vary by market and must be checked against the local SKU.
- Limitation: Digital Camera World identified the separate remote control as a drawback on its loaned pre-release unit.
Buying checklist for mobile production
- Decide whether you need a real 60mm-equivalent perspective often enough to justify the 4P over a single-camera Pocket model.
- Choose your market and verify the live regional price, stock, warranty and bundle on DJI’s local store page.
- Confirm whether the package includes the handle, fill light, wrist strap, cable, remote control and any other accessory your workflow requires.
- Check DJI’s current microSD requirements and supported capacities before purchasing storage; the reviewed material does not establish those specifications.
- If dialogue matters, verify the exact compatible DJI Mic models and whether you need a separate receiver or accessory.
- Plan log footage carefully: 10-bit D-Log 2 is specified only at 1× zoom, so do not build every shot around the 17-stop claim.
- Test your intended framing at the 20mm and 60mm viewpoints before a paid shoot, because switching modules is not simultaneous capture.
- For distant operation, confirm the remote-control functions and whether the required controller is included in your selected package.
Final verdict: a specialist upgrade with broad everyday value
The Osmo Pocket 4P earns its name through the second camera. A dedicated 60mm-equivalent module changes where you can stand and how a subject is rendered; it is a meaningful optical option rather than a marketing label for a crop. The 20mm wide camera keeps the system practical for vlogging and moving coverage, and the compact gimbal format lowers the friction of carrying a stabilized camera.
It is not a two-camera recorder, not a 12× optical zoom camera and not proof that every shot delivers DJI’s advertised 17 stops. The D-Log 2 zoom restriction, digital nature of the highest zoom settings, regional package differences and the separate-remote drawback all belong in the decision. For creators whose work alternates between wide context and tighter people-focused framing, the 4P is the most versatile Pocket configuration described here. For single-angle shooters, the extra cost may be better spent on audio, storage or a lower-priced Pocket model.
Check the current DJI Osmo Pocket 4P listing for your region before ordering, and treat every price, bundle and availability statement as time-sensitive.
