Choose Disney+ with Ads if price is your priority and you can accept commercial breaks. Choose Disney+ Premium if you want downloads and generally uninterrupted on-demand Disney+ viewing. Bundles can be better value when you already need Hulu, ESPN, or HBO Max, but each service keeps its own app, catalog rules, and advertising policy.
This comparison is for U.S. subscriptions. Disney changed prices for new subscriptions on September 23, 2026; some existing subscribers may not see a change until a billing period on or after October 21, 2026. Check the live Disney+ plan table before paying because displayed prices and promotions can change.
Disney+ plans at a glance
Disney’s U.S. lineup has two standalone choices—Disney+ with Ads and Disney+ Premium—plus bundles that add Hulu, ESPN Select or ESPN Unlimited, and HBO Max. The practical differences are not just the headline price. Check four things together: where ads run, whether Disney+ downloads are allowed, which services are included, and whether the total costs less than subscribing separately.
| Option | Ad experience | Downloads | Other services | Who may prefer it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Disney+ with Ads | Ads during most on-demand Disney+ movies and shows; live or linear programming may also contain ads | Not eligible for Disney+ downloads | Disney+ only | Anyone seeking the lower standalone tier who does not need offline viewing |
| Disney+ Premium | On-demand Disney+ titles generally play without commercial interruption; selected live and linear programming, promotions, or sponsored material can still appear | Eligible on supported mobile devices | Disney+ only | Viewers who value downloads or fewer on-demand interruptions |
| Disney+ and Hulu bundle | Depends on the selected Disney+ and Hulu tiers | Premium-bundle eligibility applies to eligible Disney+ content; confirm the current rules | Hulu is a separate service; only selected Hulu content appears in Disney+ | Households that want both services and compare the combined price with separate plans |
| Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN bundle | Varies by plan and service; ESPN remains ad-supported in the listed configurations | Eligible Disney+ downloads depend on the selected tier | ESPN Select or ESPN Unlimited, depending on the bundle | People who want sports alongside Disney+ and Hulu |
| Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max bundle | Varies between bundle tiers | Confirm current eligibility before relying on downloads | HBO Max remains a separate service | Viewers comparing a broad entertainment bundle |
Bundle names, prices, and eligibility can change. Treat the current Disney+ U.S. plan table as the authority at checkout rather than an old screenshot or an undated search result.

What is the difference between Disney+ and Disney+ Premium?
Disney+ with Ads
The ad-supported plan inserts advertising into most Disney+ on-demand movies and series. It is intended for viewers who want Disney’s catalog at the lowest standalone tier and are comfortable trading uninterrupted playback for a lower price. Advertising can also occur in live or linear programming, where the schedule and feed—not just your subscription tier—determine what you see.
Disney+ Premium
Premium generally removes commercial interruptions from on-demand Disney+ movies and shows. “Generally” matters: Disney says selected live and linear content may still carry ads, and promotional or sponsored material can appear. Premium therefore means a largely ad-free on-demand experience, not a guarantee that every piece of programming is advertising-free.
Disney’s U.S. site search result has displayed Premium at $21.49 per month, but displayed prices and promotions are volatile and the official page has contained repeated legacy and current blocks. Verify the amount in the live plan table and confirm whether taxes, billing-partner terms, or a promotion change what you will pay.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDoes Disney+ Premium have ads?
For ordinary on-demand Disney+ films and episodes, Premium is designed to avoid commercial breaks. It does not remove every possible promotional message or advertisement from the service. Live channels, live events, and other linear feeds can retain ads, and Disney may show sponsorship or promotional material. If your household watches mostly scheduled or live programming, the difference from the ad-supported tier may be smaller than it is for a movie-heavy household.
Can you download movies on Disney+?
Yes, but downloads require Disney+ Premium or a bundle whose current rules include Premium download eligibility. Disney describes the feature as downloading content to a supported mobile device for viewing when you do not have an internet connection.

Where downloads work
- Supported mobile devices are the intended destination for Disney+ downloads.
- Downloads are not currently supported on televisions.
- Downloads are not currently supported on computers.
- Downloads are not currently supported on Windows 10 or Windows 11 tablets.
What the download requirement means
A bundle may include Disney+ Premium and therefore qualify for Disney+ downloads, but eligibility is tied to the exact bundle and tier shown at purchase. Do not infer download rights from the word “bundle” alone. If offline viewing is essential, confirm that the plan description explicitly includes Premium and test the download option on your mobile device before a trip.
How Disney+ and Hulu bundles actually work
A Disney+ and Hulu bundle gives you subscriptions to two services; it does not turn every Hulu title into a Disney+ title. You normally access the services separately. Eligible subscribers can see selected Hulu programming inside Disney+, while additional Hulu content remains available only in the Hulu app.
Limits on Hulu inside Disney+
Hulu content streamed within Disney+ is limited to two devices simultaneously and is subject to additional app and device restrictions. That limit applies to Hulu viewing inside Disney+, not necessarily to every simultaneous stream you make through the separate Hulu app under its own plan rules. Check the current service terms if several people will watch Hulu at once.
Why the distinction matters
- A Disney+ search may not return every Hulu program included with your bundle.
- Some Hulu shows may require opening the Hulu app even though the bundle is billed together.
- Parental controls, profiles, supported devices, and playback limits can differ between the Disney+ and Hulu apps.
Choose the bundle for the combined services and price, not on the assumption that it creates one complete, unified catalog.

Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, and HBO Max bundles
Bundles with ESPN
Disney lists bundles that include ESPN Select or ESPN Unlimited. The exact sports inventory depends on which ESPN tier is named. ESPN remains ad-supported in the listed bundle configurations, even when Disney+ in the same bundle is Premium. If sports are your reason for bundling, identify the ESPN tier first; a cheaper ESPN option may not provide the events or coverage you expect.
Bundles with HBO Max
Disney also lists Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max combinations. Advertising differs by tier, and HBO Max is still a separate service. Confirm whether the chosen tier makes Disney+, Hulu, or HBO Max ad-free; the absence of ads in one service does not carry over automatically to the others.

Comparing a bundle with separate subscriptions
Write down the exact services and tiers in each option before comparing totals. A bundle can look cheaper while including an ad-supported tier, a lower sports level, or fewer download rights than the separate plans you would otherwise buy. Conversely, paying separately may cost more without adding a feature your household uses.
Disney+ pricing and the 2026 price change
For new U.S. subscriptions, Disney’s stated effective date for the latest prices is September 23, 2026. Existing subscribers who joined earlier may see a change in a billing period on or after October 21, 2026. The timing can therefore differ between a new signup and an established account.

- Simple remote: Incredibly easy to use, this remote features shortcut buttons to popular streaming channels
The official price page has shown duplicate blocks with older and newer values, so an undated figure copied from a search result may be stale. At checkout, record the displayed monthly or annual amount, the included services, the ad tiers, and whether the price is promotional or recurring. A third-party billing partner may display different timing or terms from a direct Disney subscription.
Disney’s U.S. search result has also displayed a student-bundle promotion. Promotions, eligibility requirements, and renewal prices can change; verify the offer directly and read what happens after any introductory period.

Choose Disney+ with Ads when
- You mainly watch on-demand Disney+ at home.
- You want the lowest standalone price shown for your account.
- You do not need to save movies or episodes for offline travel.
- Commercial breaks are an acceptable trade-off.
Choose Disney+ Premium when
- You want downloads on a supported mobile device.
- You watch enough on-demand content that interruptions are frustrating.
- You understand that live, linear, promotional, or sponsored material may still contain ads.
- You have compared Premium’s current price with the cost of any bundle you are considering.
Choose a Disney+ and Hulu bundle when
- Your household already pays for both services.
- You are comfortable using two apps and a partial Hulu catalog inside Disney+.
- You have checked the Hulu tier, simultaneous-streaming needs, and download eligibility.
Choose an ESPN bundle when
- Sports are a core reason for subscribing.
- You have identified whether ESPN Select or ESPN Unlimited includes the competitions you follow.
- You accept that ESPN remains ad-supported in the listed bundle configurations.
Choose an HBO Max bundle when
- You want HBO Max as a separate service in addition to Disney+ and possibly Hulu.
- You have compared the ad level and current price of each available tier.
- You do not assume HBO Max’s catalog or app will be merged into Disney+.
A practical checklist before subscribing
- Set your market to the United States and open Disney’s current plan table.
- Write down the exact plan or bundle name, including the ad tier and any ESPN level.
- Check whether downloads are included and confirm that your phone or tablet is supported.
- Decide whether you need Hulu’s full app catalog or only the selected Hulu titles available inside Disney+.
- Compare the displayed monthly and annual totals with the cost of separate subscriptions.
- Check the price date, renewal terms, taxes, and any promotional end date.
- If a third party bills you, confirm its price and change-of-plan rules rather than assuming Disney’s direct-billing terms apply.
Common problems and how to avoid them
“Premium still showed an ad.”
Check whether you were watching live or linear programming, or whether the message was promotional or sponsored material. Premium’s ad-free promise applies primarily to on-demand Disney+ movies and shows.
“The download button is missing.”
Verify that the account has Premium or a currently eligible bundle, then use a supported mobile device. Downloads are not available on TVs, computers, or Windows 10 and 11 tablets. If the bundle was recently changed, sign out and back in after the account reflects the new tier.
“A Hulu title is missing in Disney+.”
Search the Hulu app. Only selected Hulu content is available inside Disney+; additional Hulu content remains in Hulu’s app. Also check profile, age, location, and device restrictions.
“The price is different from an article or search result.”
Use the amount shown in the current official plan table. Disney’s 2026 price change, duplicate indexed page blocks, promotions, taxes, and third-party billing can all produce a different figure.

Bottom line
For most households, the decision is straightforward: Disney+ with Ads minimizes the standalone cost, while Disney+ Premium is the choice for mobile downloads and fewer on-demand interruptions. Add Hulu, ESPN, or HBO Max only after checking the exact tier, app separation, catalog limits, advertising, and current total price. The plan table at the time you subscribe—not an old price list—should decide the final comparison.
