DISH lists extra receiver fees from $7 to $15 per month, depending on the model. A technician visit or custom installation may add a separate one-time charge, and the final price can vary by account. For an existing subscriber, ask DISH for an itemized quote before ordering; advertised free installation is not a blanket offer for current customers.
What DISH charges for an additional receiver
DISH’s published fee schedule lists recurring monthly charges by receiver type. Its January 16, 2025 no-commitment Change Receiver Plan Agreement gives the same monthly amounts. DISH notes that account pricing can depend on when service began or equipment was added, so treat these figures as published rates rather than a guaranteed quote.
| Receiver type | Published monthly fee |
|---|---|
| Joey, Wireless Joey, or 4K Joey | $7 per month |
| Super Joey | $10 per month |
| Hopper-family receiver, including Hopper, Hopper with Sling, or Hopper 3 | $15 per month |
DISH also describes additional-equipment charges in a $5–$15 monthly range in its advertised offers. Taxes, surcharges, and some add-ons are excluded from the advertised price guarantee. Check the current terms and your account for the amount that will actually appear on your bill. DISH’s fee schedule and receiver agreement provide the published figures.

DISH describes a Joey as a way to extend service to another room without putting a separate DVR in every room, and says one Joey is needed for each additional TV. Wired and wireless Joey options are available; a wireless model can be useful when running a cable to the TV is impractical. A Joey is not the same as adding a full Hopper-family receiver with DVR functionality.

The right model depends on your current equipment and account setup. Confirm compatibility, activation, and any upfront charge with DISH before ordering. The Joey information page describes its additional-room use.
Could installation add a one-time charge?
DISH’s fee page lists a $95 Standard Technician Visit without DISH Protect and $0 with DISH Protect. It also lists a separate $50 Custom Work Install fee. The fee schedule does not establish that every receiver addition requires a visit or that every visit will be classified the same way. Ask whether a technician is needed and how the work will be billed.

- SOME ITEMS ARE NEW FACTORY REMAN DISH NETWORK CERTIFIED*
DISH advertises standard professional installation for new and qualifying former customers under its price guarantee, including installation of receivers at included TVs. That offer is not a general promise of free installation for an existing subscriber; upfront activation or receiver-upgrade fees may also apply based on credit qualification. See the offer terms and price guarantee terms for eligibility details.
How DISH Protect and promotions affect the price
DISH Protect advertises additional rooms of service with no upfront cost for a standard Joey. The stated benefit does not extend automatically to every equipment type: DISH says Joey 4, 4K Joey, WiFi Joey, and a WiFi access point can cost extra. The plan page also advertises $0 technician visits for customer-care work orders. These statements do not establish that every existing subscriber qualifies, that the plan itself is free, or that recurring receiver charges disappear.
Check the current price and terms for your account, including whether the requested job qualifies as a customer-care work order. DISH’s DISH Protect page describes the advertised benefits and equipment qualifications.

DISH’s agreement directs customers to call for an itemization of equipment and service costs. A receiver added after a billing period begins may produce a prorated charge on the next bill, followed by the regular recurring amount. The receiver agreement explains the account-specific pricing and itemization process; DISH billing support covers billing questions.
