Sign in to DIRECTV with the user ID and password for your DIRECTV account. On a computer, use DIRECTV’s website; on a phone, tablet, smart TV, or streaming device, install and open the DIRECTV app. Some customers already have a myAT&T user ID, so they may not need to create a separate online account.
Sign in to DIRECTV on a computer
- Open DIRECTV’s website and select the sign-in option.
- Enter the user ID and password associated with your DIRECTV account. DIRECTV’s online account experience supports account management as well as viewing.
- If DIRECTV requests verification, follow the prompt to receive a one-time code by the email address or phone number shown, then enter that code on the sign-in page.
For browser compatibility, DIRECTV currently lists Chrome 143 or higher, Edge 143 or higher, and Safari 26 as recommended. Requirements can change; check DIRECTV’s compatible devices and browsers page if the site does not work in your browser.
Sign in on a phone, tablet, smart TV, or streaming device
- Install the DIRECTV app from the device’s app store.
- Open the app and enter your DIRECTV user ID and password.
- If prompted, complete the one-time-code check using the contact method DIRECTV presents.
App access requires a DIRECTV account, an internet-connected compatible device, and the app installed from that device’s store. Supported models and software versions vary; use DIRECTV’s compatibility list to check your device. You do not need to buy a particular streaming device just to sign in; a compatible device you already own may work.

Use the right DIRECTV account credentials
The DIRECTV user ID and password are the main credentials for the website and app. If DIRECTV assigned you a myAT&T user ID when you signed up, use that existing ID; DIRECTV says those customers do not need to create a separate directv.com account. Other customers can create an online account by selecting their service type in DIRECTV’s account-management instructions. The same user ID and password can be used with the app.

- Forgot the user ID: Select “Forgot email or user ID?” and enter the email address or account number requested. DIRECTV sends the user ID by email.
- Forgot the password: Select “Forgot Password,” then enter your user ID and last name. Follow the email instructions to set a new password using the temporary password.
DIRECTV warns that “Temporary passwords cannot be used to sign in at directv.com.” Use the temporary password in the password-reset flow to create a new password rather than trying to use it as your website login. See DIRECTV’s user ID and password help.
Why DIRECTV asks for a one-time code
After you enter your username and password, DIRECTV may ask for a one-time code sent to the email address or phone number on file. Choose the contact method shown on the official sign-in page and enter the code there. If you cannot access the displayed email or phone, the sign-in page’s available account-recovery or support options are the appropriate next step. Troubleshoot a DIRECTV sign-in problem
- Check the account: Make sure you are using the DIRECTV credentials, including a previously assigned myAT&T user ID if applicable.
- Recover the missing credential: Use “Forgot email or user ID?” for an unknown ID, or “Forgot Password” for a password reset.
- Complete verification: If asked, retrieve and enter the one-time code sent to the contact method on file.
- If the app is malfunctioning: Check for app and device-software updates, restart the app or device, and reinstall the app if needed. DIRECTV lists these steps in its support materials.
- If you can sign in but cannot watch: Check device compatibility, package and account availability, geographic restrictions, and whether your TV or third-party device needs to be on your home Wi-Fi.
