The Dipo DC23 is a commercial countertop induction cooker for professional kitchens that need controllable heat from a portable 10-amp appliance. Its published specification is 2,300 W, cookware support from 130 to 300 mm, automatic pan sensing, over-temperature shut-off and a cleanable intake filter. Australian listings reviewed for this guide showed AUD 1,649.90 to AUD 1,914, both excluding GST.

What the Dipo DC23 is
The DC23 is a portable, single-zone induction cooker designed to sit on a commercial countertop rather than be permanently built into a cooking line. It uses an induction field to heat a compatible pan directly, allowing the cooking surface to remain easier to wipe than a conventional exposed element.
Roband’s Dipo brochure describes two groups of settings: seven simmer settings and 10 cook settings. CHOICE lists 17 power levels. Those descriptions are consistent as a count of 17 selectable levels, although the manufacturer separates them by intended use while CHOICE presents the total as power levels.

The cooker has an LED display, automatic pan sensing, automatic over-temperature shut-off and a cleanable air-intake filter below the unit. Air exits at the rear, so the rear and surrounding space must remain clear. Distributor material also claims dynamic pan tracing and suitability for low-temperature work such as tempering chocolate and high-temperature work such as sautéing. Those use claims come from the manufacturer or distributor, not an independent cooking test.

Electrical requirements: check this before buying
The operating manual instructs the installer to place the unit on a firm, level surface and connect it to a “standard, single phase, 10 Amp power point.” The brochure likewise lists a standard 10-amp plug and 10.0 A. A buyer in Australia should therefore verify that the intended outlet and supplying circuit can support the appliance’s 2,300 W specification without sharing an unsuitable circuit with other high-load equipment.
The manual recommends that the supplying circuit be protected by an approved residual-current device (RCD), also called an earth-leakage device. That recommendation does not replace an electrician’s assessment or local commercial-kitchen rules. Requirements can differ by country, building, outlet type and the way the appliance is installed.
Electrical checklist
- Confirm the site voltage and frequency match the rating plate on the offered DC23.
- Confirm the outlet is single phase and rated for 10 A, as specified in the manual.
- Ask an electrician whether the circuit has enough capacity for the cooker alongside other appliances.
- Check that an approved RCD or equivalent protection is provided where required.
- Do not use an adapter, extension arrangement or altered plug unless it is specifically approved for the installation and load.
- Inspect the delivered unit’s plug, cable and rating label before energising it.
The published 10-amp specification is not a universal statement that every country can use the DC23 on an ordinary outlet. Importing a unit into a region with different voltage, plug or electrical certification can create a safety and compliance problem.
Counter clearance and ventilation
The manual requires at least 100 mm between the cooker and nearby walls or other objects. The brochure identifies rear air discharge and a cleanable intake filter underneath. The counter must therefore provide room around the rear discharge and enough access underneath to inspect and clean the filter.

Positioning procedure
- Choose a firm, level, heat-resistant commercial surface.
- Measure at least 100 mm from the rear and from nearby walls or objects, following the manual’s clearance instruction.
- Keep the air intake beneath the unit unobstructed; do not place it directly on material that blocks airflow.
- Leave enough working space to remove and clean the intake filter without lifting the cooker over a hot pan.
- Keep the appliance away from open flames, flammable liquids and unusually hot surroundings.
- After positioning, confirm the power cable can reach the approved outlet without tension or contact with hot surfaces.
Insufficient ventilation can cause nuisance shutdowns, reduced service life or unsafe temperatures even when the electrical connection is correct. Clearance is part of the installation requirement, not optional space for convenience.
Cookware compatibility and pan size
The published cookware diameter range is 130 to 300 mm. Measure the induction-compatible base that contacts the cooking zone, not merely the widest rim or external handle span. A pan with a base smaller than 130 mm or larger than 300 mm is outside the stated range, so its performance and detection are not established by the specification.

Induction also requires a magnetically responsive base. Stainless steel, cast iron and other materials may work when their construction is induction-compatible, while non-magnetic aluminium, copper or glass generally require a suitable magnetic layer. The available product material does not validate particular cookware brands or models, so test the pans that will actually be used before committing to a service setup.
Pan-fit checks for a kitchen
- Measure the base diameter of every frequently used pan.
- Check for an induction symbol or the manufacturer’s compatibility statement.
- Confirm the base sits flat; badly warped cookware can heat unevenly and may be detected unreliably.
- Test the smallest and largest intended pans with the DC23 before putting it into daily service.
- Keep the induction surface and pan base clean so the vessel sits consistently on the zone.
Controls and cooking functions
The LED display provides the operating readout, while the 17 published levels give more control than a simple low/high switch. The manufacturer divides the range into seven simmer settings and 10 cook settings, which is useful when a kitchen workflow distinguishes gentle holding or melting from active cooking.
Automatic pan sensing is intended to detect whether suitable cookware is present. If a pan is removed or is not recognised, induction systems normally stop transferring heat; the exact display behaviour and restart sequence should be confirmed in the supplied manual. Automatic over-temperature shut-off is a protective feature, but it should not be treated as permission to run the unit with blocked ventilation or an empty pan.

Distributor descriptions of dynamic pan tracing suggest that the cooker adjusts its heating response as the pan and load change. Because no independent test data is available, treat that as a manufacturer claim rather than a measured promise about recovery time, temperature accuracy or output under a specific recipe.

Low-temperature tasks
The distributor specifically cites tempering chocolate as an example of low-temperature work. The multiple simmer levels may help a cook choose a gentler setting than a single fixed burner, but the available evidence does not establish a particular chocolate-tempering temperature, stability range or batch size.
High-temperature tasks
Sautéing is cited as a high-temperature use. The 2,300 W rating indicates the appliance is intended for substantial countertop cooking power, but published wattage alone does not establish how quickly a given pan reaches a target temperature. Pan material, food load, starting temperature and ventilation all affect results.
Portable or auxiliary stations
At 7.2 kg, the DC23 can be moved between suitable counters, although it is not a lightweight travel hob. Its portable format may fit a demonstration station, prep area, temporary service point or a kitchen that needs an additional induction zone. The counter, outlet and clearance requirements still apply at every location.
Dimensions, footprint and workflow planning
The brochure gives 365 × 450 × 115 mm, while CHOICE lists 12 × 37 × 46 cm. The latter is a rounded, differently presented measurement equivalent to approximately 120 × 370 × 460 mm. Plan for the larger 460 mm depth and 370 mm width figures, plus the required 100 mm clearance, rather than designing a counter cutout around the smaller brochure numbers.

The 115 mm brochure height does not include the vertical space needed for cookware, handles, ventilation or operator access. Check adjacent shelves, splashbacks and overhead equipment before installation. A pan that fits the 130–300 mm diameter range can still be awkward if nearby equipment prevents safe handle movement.

CHOICE’s expert rating is available to members. The accessible information does not reveal the score, test results or comparative ranking, so no rating should be inferred. There is also no hands-on test evidence here for boil time, temperature accuracy, noise, energy consumption, recovery after adding food, durability or long-term filter performance.
That distinction matters when assessing value. The DC23 has a detailed functional specification and clear installation requirements, but a buyer who needs verified cooking performance should arrange a demonstration or negotiate a trial under representative loads.

The Dipo DC23 is best evaluated as a professionally oriented 2,300 W countertop induction cooker with a 10-amp connection, 130–300 mm cookware range, 17 selectable levels and practical protection features.
