The Dimplex DCP26FS is a cooling-only portable air conditioner rated at 2.6kW, with Dimplex recommending it for rooms of 12–20m². Those figures are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee of cooling in every room or climate. The main buying checks are whether its window slider and exhaust can be installed in your space, and whether the stated Wi-Fi feature is confirmed for the exact unit you are buying.

The available public evidence supports a cautious answer: it has a clearly stated capacity, included window kit and remote, and a two-year domestic warranty, but it does not establish how well it cools or how loud or energy-intensive it is in independent testing. CHOICE’s public DCP26FS review page identifies it as a cooling-only 2.6kW unit with R290 refrigerant, window kit and remote. Its expert rating and test results are member-only, so the public page cannot substantiate a score or recommendation. The page displays $699 but says it has no current price links; treat that as a page-displayed figure, not a verified current offer.

What room size is it intended for?
Dimplex recommends the DCP26FS for 12–20m². Use that as a starting point rather than a promise: actual results can vary with room conditions, and the specification does not guarantee performance in every Australian climate or layout. If the room is open-plan, unusually exposed to sun, or has a heat load that differs from a typical enclosed room, do not assume the upper end of the guidance will be comfortable.

The sheet lists an operating temperature of 18–35°C and thermostat range of 16–31°C. These are separate ratings: the operating range describes ambient conditions specified for operation, while the thermostat range is the set-point range.

The manual gives the slider kit an adjustment range of 67.5–125cm and says it is intended for most standard vertical and horizontal window applications. It also cautions: “The windows slider kit has been designed to fit most standard vertical and horizontal window applications, however it may be necessary for you to modify some aspects of the installation procedures for certain types of windows.” The manual says screws may be used to fasten the kit if needed, but screws are not supplied.

Before buying, measure the opening and check the full exhaust route, sealing requirements, and space needed around the appliance. Confirm that you can position the unit close enough to a suitable window for the exhaust pipe and that any required modification is practical. The included kit is not a promise of compatibility with every window type. Consult Dimplex’s portable AC instruction manual for installation details.
Does the DCP26FS have Wi-Fi?
Dimplex’s model-specific specification sheet lists Wi-Fi through Glen Dimplex Connect. However, the combined-model manual’s extracted table appears to assign Wi-Fi to the DCP20FS and show none for the DCP26FS. Because those documents conflict, verify the rating label and current documentation for the exact unit, and check app support before relying on remote control. The available information does not establish additional smart-home integrations.

What should you compare before choosing it?
For a useful comparison with another portable air conditioner, look beyond the headline capacity. Check whether independent testing reports cooling and noise under comparable conditions, whether energy use is stated, and whether the window kit and exhaust arrangement suit your room. Also compare weight, footprint, controls, warranty and a currently verified price. The public DCP26FS information described above does not provide comparable independent test scores.

For local availability, verify the seller’s current listing, stock and price directly; the CHOICE page’s displayed $699 is not a live quote. BIG W has a listing for a Dimplex 2.6kW portable air conditioner, which helps corroborate the product identity but does not establish current stock or availability elsewhere.
