The Dimplex DCP20FS is a compact, single-hose portable air conditioner rated for 2.0 kW of cooling and a manufacturer-stated room range of 4–16 m². Its listed features include Wi-Fi, dehumidification, fan mode and self-evaporative condensate handling. Those figures and features come from Dimplex’s published specifications—not independent performance testing—so actual cooling speed, noise and energy use remain unverified.

The specification sheet also lists Glen Dimplex Connect Wi-Fi, a 0–24-hour timer and a self-evaporative system. A window kit and remote are included. Confirm the warranty applicable to your market and seller before buying: a retailer listing has shown a different warranty term.
How well might it cool a room?
The 2.0 kW rating and 4–16 m² room range are useful starting points, not a guarantee of a particular room temperature or cooling time. Room size is only one factor: heat entering through sunlit windows, insulation, ceiling height, outdoor temperature and how well the exhaust opening is sealed can all affect results.

No verified independent test establishes the DCP20FS’s pull-down time, real-room noise, energy draw, app reliability or performance in high ambient heat. The published noise figure of ≤65 dB(A) is a manufacturer specification, not a measurement from a test room. Treat the product as a small-room option based on its stated capacity, rather than assuming it will cool every room within the listed range equally well.
Installation: the exhaust hose is essential in cooling mode
The DCP20FS is a portable, single-hose unit. During COOL operation, its exhaust hose must carry warm air outdoors through a nearby window or other opening. - Place the unit on an even surface near a suitable window or opening. The manual recommends at least 50 cm of clearance from the nearest wall.
- Fit the exhaust hose and window kit so warm air is discharged outside. Keep the hose as short and straight as practical; avoid sharp bends, sagging and kinks.
- Check that the window arrangement can accommodate the supplied slider kit and that the opening around it is adequately sealed. A separate sealing accessory is only a possible need if your window cannot be sealed effectively with the included kit.
- Use the controls or remote to select the desired mode. Consult the manual for setup, operation and safe maintenance instructions.
Portable does not mean effortless to move between rooms: the unit weighs 20.5 kg. Its listed dimensions are 285 × 335 × 698 mm (W × D × H), though the official manual’s model table gives a depth of 330 mm rather than 335 mm. Dimplex advises checking the product rating label for greater precision; verify the unit’s label or seller listing if a tight space makes exact dimensions important.

Modes, timer and Wi-Fi control
The manual describes cooling, dehumidifying and fan operation, along with sleep mode, two fan speeds, timer controls and remote operation. The display dims after 20 seconds without activity and can be woken by touching it.

Wi-Fi setup uses Glen Dimplex Connect. The DCP20FS supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only; do not assume it connects directly to a 5 GHz network. Setup may also require Bluetooth and location permissions on the phone. If connecting the unit is important to you, check that your home network and phone permissions meet those requirements.
Does self-evaporative mean it never needs draining?
No. The self-evaporative system is designed to evaporate collected condensation during operation, but the manual also describes a water-full indicator and shutdown condition. When that occurs, operation stops until the water is drained manually. The air filter also needs cleaning; use the manual’s instructions for maintenance intervals and safe handling.

Who should consider the DCP20FS?
On the available specifications, it may suit someone looking for a portable cooling unit for a small room who can place it near a compatible window and route an exhaust hose outdoors. The included remote and window kit, dehumidification and fan modes, and app control are part of the listed package.
It is a harder choice if you cannot exhaust air outside, need verified quiet operation, want independently tested cooling or energy figures, or require proven performance in a particularly hot room. Those outcomes are not established by the manufacturer’s specification sheet or the available model-directory material. Compare alternatives using cooling capacity and intended room size, window compatibility, measured noise and energy use, condensate handling, weight, smart-control requirements, warranty and total cost—but do not treat the DCP20FS as superior on those measures without comparable evidence.
