The Dimensity 9400+ narrowly leads the Snapdragon 8 Elite in one published AnTuTu comparison, but the result is too close—and too dependent on the tested phones—to establish a universal winner. MediaTek’s chip uses an Arm Cortex-X925 CPU; Qualcomm’s uses a custom Oryon CPU with Adreno graphics and a Hexagon NPU. For a real buying decision, compare the specific phones, not just their chip names.
How the two flagship chips differ
These are competing flagship mobile platforms from MediaTek and Qualcomm. This comparison covers the original Snapdragon 8 Elite, announced in 2024, not a later Elite-generation product. MediaTek announced the Dimensity 9400+ on April 10, 2025.
| Platform | CPU information | Other published details |
|---|---|---|
| MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ | Arm Cortex-X925, up to 3.73 GHz, according to MediaTek. | MediaTek lists Wi-Fi 7 support and on-device AI capabilities. See MediaTek’s product page and its April 10, 2025 announcement. |
| Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite | Qualcomm describes a custom Oryon CPU; the cited product information does not establish one universal clock speed for every phone. | Qualcomm lists an Adreno GPU, Hexagon NPU, modem, and connectivity features. Its platform page and product brief note that results can vary with OEM implementation and other factors. |
These specifications identify the platforms, not the exact configuration in every handset. Phone makers can determine the implementation, including supported features and operating conditions, so check the device’s own specifications before relying on a particular clock or capability.

In a comparison tested by 91mobiles and accessed in 2026, the Dimensity 9400+ scored 2,821,319 in AnTuTu and the Snapdragon 8 Elite scored 2,810,079. That is a narrow lead for the MediaTek platform in this reported comparison—not proof that every Dimensity 9400+ phone will outperform every Snapdragon 8 Elite phone. See the 91mobiles comparison.

The available report does not establish a fully controlled comparison: handset equivalence, software and benchmark versions, thermal state, sample size, and repeatability are not specified. Treat the figures as one publication’s test results, not a chipset-only guarantee or a measure of everyday responsiveness.
Why one AnTuTu score cannot pick a winner
An aggregate benchmark does not answer every performance question. CPU single-core and multi-core work, GPU graphics, sustained gaming, AI processing, and power or thermal behavior are separate workloads. A small difference in one AnTuTu comparison cannot settle which platform is faster in all of them, or which phone lasts longer on a charge.

For additional context, Geekbench’s Android results are observations from individual phones and tablets. They are useful for seeing device-level scores, but a leaderboard is not a controlled, chipset-only comparison. Compare results from the same benchmark version and closely matched test conditions wherever possible.
Qualcomm’s performance and efficiency claims on its product materials use Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 as the baseline and carry a caveat that results vary with OEM implementation and other factors. Those vendor claims should not be recast as an independent head-to-head victory over the Dimensity 9400+.

Which phone should you choose?
Do not choose a handset on the chipset name or this score difference alone. The phone’s cooling, battery, software support, camera implementation, price, and regional configuration can matter as much as the platform for your use. No specific handset recommendation follows from the available chip comparison.
