It is not possible to confirm from the available reporting whether the Progressive Social Security team took control of Thailand’s Social Security Board in the 27 September 2026 election. The available sources establish the team’s strong result in the 2023 employee-representative vote and the restoration of the 2026 election schedule by a court; neither proves who won the later election or whether any group controls the full board.

What is known about the 2026 election?

On 11 August 2026, the Central Administrative Court annulled a notice postponing the election of employer and insured-person representatives and restored the original 27 September 2026 voting schedule, according to Thairath’s report of the ruling. The report says the court found the postponement had halted the election process without valid necessity under Ministry of Labour regulations. It also says the Progressive Social Security team brought the lawsuit challenging the postponement.

That ruling settled the schedule dispute; it was not an election result. The available reporting does not establish whether voting took place on 27 September, who won, or whether results were officially certified. Thairath’s article is a secondary account, not the court judgment itself.

What did the Progressive team win in 2023?

In the first election for 14 Social Security Board representatives, the Progressive Social Security Team won six of the seven employee-representative seats, The Nation reported on 25 December 2023. The report described the results as unofficial while they awaited Social Security Office review and endorsement.

The Nation reported 156,870 participants across 934 polling stations. Turnout was 18.36% among 854,414 eligible employee voters. Those figures describe the 2023 election only, not the 2026 vote. See The Nation’s 2023 election report.

Why six employee seats do not establish control of the whole board

The 2023 board election covered seven employee-representative seats and seven employer-representative seats. The Nation listed the employer representatives separately from the Progressive team’s employee-seat result. Winning six seats in one category therefore does not, by itself, show that the team controlled the full board.

To establish control after a later election, a reliable result would need to identify winners by representative category and clarify whether the figures are preliminary or certified. The available sources do not provide those 2026 details, so they do not support the headline claim as a confirmed fact.

What would confirm the claim?

  • An official or reliably reported 2026 result, with its publication date and certification status.
  • The number of seats won by the Progressive team in each representative category, not just employee seats.
  • Enough information about the board’s membership to determine whether those results amount to control of the full board.
