The available evidence does not confirm that Russian players lost access to PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS servers or that such a loss caused negative Steam reviews. Steam’s reviewed snapshot shows Russian-language reviews as Mostly Positive, while its recent reviews are Mostly Negative across all languages; neither rating establishes where reviewers live or why they posted.
What the Steam review figures show
In the reviewed Steam store snapshot, the Russian-language review category contained 346,639 reviews and was rated Mostly Positive. That category is based on review language, not reviewers’ location, so it cannot be treated as a rating from players in Russia. Steam’s PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS store page is a changing platform snapshot, and its totals and sentiment can change over time.
The same snapshot showed 36,533 recent reviews across all languages, rated Mostly Negative. Steam’s recent summary does not identify reviewers’ countries, and it does not say what prompted their reviews. The two figures therefore cannot establish either a Russia-specific review wave or a link between server access and review sentiment.
What the official PUBG notice says—and does not say
The official PUBG notice reviewed is about account-unlocking rules for victims of account theft. Published on July 21, 2026, it says the changes take effect July 22, 2026, at 05:00 MSK. It does not announce a server restriction in Russia. The PUBG news page is the official source for that notice.

The notice does not settle whether separate technical, commercial, regulatory, or regional service issues affected Russian players. It should not be presented as evidence for or against a separate access problem.
Why visible negative reviews do not prove the claim
Steam Community reviews are user-generated, and individual examples are not representative of all players. Visible reviews include criticism of PUBG’s handling of a 2026 esports controversy involving professional players. That gives one example of a different grievance, but it does not establish why recent reviews are negative overall or show that reviewers are Russian. Steam Community reviews for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS can be read directly, but they do not provide a reliable basis for attributing the overall trend to a particular cause.
