The claim that Koch Industries netted nearly $1 billion in payouts from Infor over two years is not verified by the available documentation. What is documented is that Koch completed its acquisition of the remaining portion of Infor from Golden Gate Capital in April 2020, after investing in the enterprise software company since 2017. Neither the acquisition announcement nor the other sources cited here identify a payout amount, payment period, or type.
What is known about Koch’s ownership of Infor
Infor announced on April 6, 2020, that Koch Industries had completed the acquisition of the remaining portion of Infor from Golden Gate Capital. Koch had invested in Infor since 2017, according to Infor’s announcement. The announcement establishes an ownership transaction; it does not say Koch received nearly $1 billion in subsequent payouts.
Koch’s current corporate overview describes Infor as a Koch company and its products as mission-critical enterprise applications and services. That is Koch’s characterization of the business, not a disclosure of cash distributions or other payments.

Why the nearly-$1-billion payout claim remains unverified
“Payouts” could refer to materially different kinds of payments, including dividends, distributions, debt repayments, fees, or proceeds from a transaction. The reviewed sources do not identify which, if any, of these the claim means. They also do not establish the amount, the two-year period, who paid whom, or the relevant financial records.
#1 Best Overall
Infor’s acquisition announcement documents the 2020 ownership change, while its other company-reported figures do not provide evidence for later payments to Koch. Without a filing, financial statement, or reliable report identifying the payment stream, the headline figure should not be presented as established fact. The lack of documentation in these sources does not prove that no payments occurred; it leaves the claim unresolved.
Koch was also an Infor customer
The relationship was not only an ownership one. Infor said Koch used its solutions across areas including ERP, human resources, supply chain, asset management, and finance. In a 2020 announcement, Koch vice president of human resources Walt Malone described implementing Infor CloudSuite HCM alongside other Infor tools, with a planned move to CloudSuite. The release said the HCM platform supported an enterprise-wide system of record and standardized processes across subsidiaries.

That customer relationship helps explain why Koch and Infor were closely connected, but software use is not evidence of cash payouts. Payments between a customer and software provider, ownership distributions, and acquisition proceeds are distinct financial categories and should not be conflated.

What Infor’s 2020 figures do—and do not—show
Infor reported approximately $4 billion invested in product design and development and more than 68,000 customers globally in 2020. These are figures Infor reported at the time, not independently verified current totals. They describe product investment and customer reach; neither establishes how much Koch received from Infor or whether it received payouts at all.

What would verify the claim
A reliable account of nearly $1 billion in payouts would need to identify the payer and recipient, the exact payment category, the amount and dates, and the underlying records or reporting supporting those details. Until a source supplies that information, the acquisition and customer relationship are documented facts, while the payout claim remains unsubstantiated by the sources cited here.
