Fosi Audio’s DAP Neo brings back some of the classic iPod’s most recognizable ideas—a compact body, color screen, tactile wheel and physical buttons—but it is not an iPod remake. It is a portable digital audio player for music stored on a microSD card, with wired and Bluetooth playback and no popular streaming apps listed. That makes it most appealing if you already have a digital music library and want to listen without phone notifications.
What the DAP Neo is—and what “revive the iPod” means
The DAP Neo is a small, dedicated music player from Fosi Audio. Its wheel, side buttons and compact color display recall the classic iPod, while its purpose is different from a modern smartphone: it plays music files stored locally rather than acting as a gateway to streaming services. Fosi’s tagline is “Music doesn’t need a feed,” a description of its intended approach rather than an independent assessment of the device.
The comparison is about design and distraction-free listening, not a literal return of Apple’s iPod. The practical question is whether you want a separate player and are comfortable managing your own music files.

How you listen: local files, wired headphones or Bluetooth
There are no popular streaming apps listed
The DAP Neo does not offer access to Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music or Tidal, according to Gear Patrol’s coverage. You need to bring music files yourself—such as downloads or tracks ripped from CDs—and load them onto a microSD card. If streaming is central to how you listen, this player is not a substitute for a phone.

Fosi lists MP3, FLAC, WAV, APE, M4A and DSD support. For listening, the device has a 3.5mm single-ended headphone output and Bluetooth with SBC codec support, according to Fosi Audio’s product page. The listed Bluetooth codec is SBC; the specifications do not establish support for more advanced codecs.

Price and availability depend on the configuration
On October 13, 2026, Fosi’s product page displayed a price of $79.99 and a “Sold Out” status. Gear Patrol, in an article published the same day, reported an $80 starting price for the 16GB configuration and an additional $40 for the 64GB version. These are listed or reported prices, not a guarantee of current stock or checkout pricing; check the seller’s live listing before buying.
The included card means you do not need to buy a separate microSD card just to get started. An extra card is relevant only if you want more space than the card in your configuration provides; Fosi states support for expansion up to 256GB. The available information does not establish a recommended card speed or class.

Who should consider it?
- A good fit: listeners who already own downloadable music or CDs they can rip, want a separate device for listening, and value physical controls and a headphone jack.
- A poor fit: listeners who depend on streaming catalogs, playlists synced through apps, or a Bluetooth codec beyond SBC.
- Worth checking before purchase: current stock, the included-card configuration, and whether your headphone setup suits the listed 3.5mm output or SBC Bluetooth.
