The Diamondback Octane 24 is documented as a 2023 youth mountain bike with 24-inch wheels, a 50 mm suspension fork, Shimano Tourney 1×7 gearing and rim brakes. The available price record is historical—not a current deal—and there is no verified current stock or firsthand ride test. Check the model year and local availability before comparing listings.
What the 2023 Diamondback Octane 24 includes
The specifications below describe the 2023 model in the available product records; they should not be assumed to apply to every Octane year or listing.
| Feature | 2023 Octane 24 specification |
|---|---|
| Frame | 6061 heat-treated aluminum |
| Fork | HL Zoom suspension fork, 50 mm travel |
| Rear derailleur and shifter | Shimano Tourney TY300 derailleur; Shimano Revo 7-speed shifter |
| Gearing | 1×7 drivetrain; 14–28T seven-speed freewheel |
| Brakes | Alloy linear-pull rim brakes |
| Wheels and tires | 24-inch alloy wheels; 24 x 2.2-inch tires |
That parts list points to a relatively straightforward gearing and braking setup for general youth riding. It does not establish how the bike performs on difficult trails, how well it stops in testing, or how durable it is; no ride test or those measurements are documented. A UK product page also characterizes it as trail-oriented and lists £321, but that is a third-party assessment and historical price, not a current offer or a basis for comparison with US prices. OptiCycles’ 2023 model page describes that listing.

The recorded 2023 model has 24-inch wheels, but wheel size alone does not establish whether a particular child will fit or feel comfortable on it. Diamondback says model-specific sizing information is available from the product page’s Size Guide tab. Check that guidance against the exact model year and listing, and have a local bike shop help assess fit if needed. Diamondback’s FAQ explains where to find sizing guidance and how to locate shop support.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What does the price information actually tell you?
99 Spokes records a $370 manufacturer price for the 2023 Octane 24 and says the model had not been listed for 972 days as of its database record. This is historical information, not a live retailer price, current sale, or proof the bike is available today. The 99 Spokes listing is the source for that dated model record.
Diamondback’s FAQ defines its own inventory labels: “Out of Stock” means an item has no inventory, while “Coming Soon” means it is not yet available but is expected. Those definitions do not confirm whether the Octane is currently offered. For a real deal comparison, verify the exact model year and configuration, the retailer’s current price and stock, and the applicable assembly and return terms.

What should you compare before choosing a youth bike?
Compare listings from the same market and model year where possible. A useful comparison should answer these questions rather than relying on a model name or a generic “trail bike” label:
- Fit: What wheel size and manufacturer sizing guidance apply to this specific model?
- Terrain and control: What fork design and travel, tire width, and intended riding conditions are documented?
- Gearing: How many speeds are provided, and what gear range is specified?
- Braking: Does it use rim or disc brakes, and what service or adjustment should the buyer expect?
- Price certainty: Is the price current for your location, and are stock, assembly, and return terms clear?
The available records do not support naming a best alternative or a winner in a controlled, same-market comparison.

Parts, accessories and compatibility
Diamondback directs owners to local bike shops for replacement parts and support. Its owner manual also advises checking with a dealer before installing a component or accessory, including a different tire size. Because compatibility errors can cause serious injury or death, do not assume an upgrade fits based only on a general description; confirm it for the exact bike. Diamondback’s FAQ covers shop support, and the Octane 24 owner manual provides the compatibility warning.
