If armor vanished after a Diablo IV update, it may not have been deleted. Blizzard’s September 30, 2026 build 3.2.2 fixed a specific case in which wearing a Lore Runeword Helm made the helm invisible. Players have also reported wardrobe cosmetics disappearing, appearing locked after they were earned, or failing to unlock after salvaging.
Those symptoms look similar but have different causes. The Season 15 workaround added in build 3.2.3 is for blocked Prime Evil Powers progression, not a universal fix for missing transmogs. The first step is to identify whether the problem affects an equipped item, a wardrobe appearance, or seasonal quest progress.

What Blizzard’s latest Diablo 4 updates confirm
Build 3.2.2 fixed an invisible Lore Runeword Helm
Blizzard’s all-platform patch notes for build 3.2.2, dated September 30, 2026, state: “Fixed an issue where wearing a Lore Runeword Helm made the helm invisible.” In this case, the character can still be wearing the helm; its model simply does not render as expected.

Build 3.2.3 addressed a separate Season 15 progression bug
Blizzard’s October 14, 2026 build 3.2.3 notes describe a Season 15 issue that could allow a character to use a Splinter of a Prime Evil before completing the seasonal questline. That could block quest completion and prevent access to Prime Evil Powers.
The patch prevents the bug from occurring, but Blizzard says it does not reset quest progress on characters that are already affected. Its stated remedy is: “To allow affected characters access to Prime Evil Powers, create a new character in the same partition (Normal/Hardcore and Normal/SSF) and complete the seasonal questline.” This applies to Prime Evil Powers access, not automatically to a missing helm, armor set or transmog.

How to check what happened after an update
- Check the installed build. Confirm that the game is running build 3.2.2 or newer for the Lore Runeword Helm fix. Build 3.2.3 is dated October 14, 2026 and contains the Season 15 progression correction.
- Inspect the character’s equipment. Open the character sheet and verify the slot, item name and equipped state. An invisible model is different from an empty slot or a transmog that is no longer listed.
- Open the wardrobe separately. Look for the appearance on the correct armor slot and class. A missing cosmetic does not prove that the underlying item was removed from inventory.
- Check whether the appearance was newly earned. Note whether you acquired the item recently, salvaged it, or had already unlocked its appearance before the update. Player reports describe different failures for each situation.
- Reconnect and recheck. Close the game completely, reconnect to the same account and partition, and inspect both the equipment screen and wardrobe again. This separates a temporary display state from an account or character record that is still wrong.
- Document the failure before taking another action. Capture the item or appearance name, build number, platform, character type, class, and the exact screen showing it as invisible, missing or locked. Avoid salvaging a replacement item until the original problem is recorded.
What players have reported about missing cosmetics
Threads on Blizzard’s Diablo IV forums describe armor cosmetics disappearing after the Season 11 Paladin patch and continuing wardrobe or transmog problems after patch 2.5.3. Reported symptoms include missing sets, appearances shown as locked despite having been acquired, and gear being salvaged without unlocking the associated appearance.

These are player reports, not a universal Blizzard diagnosis. They show that “missing armor” can describe several account states, but they do not establish that every report has the same cause or that a particular item was searched for weeks. Blizzard’s official notes and Diablo IV forum threads do not identify the exact armor item or substantiate the “weeks searching” detail in the headline lead.

Use the new-character workaround only when the problem is the Season 15 Prime Evil Powers questline described in build 3.2.3. Create the new character in the same partition—Normal or Hardcore, and Normal or SSF—and complete the seasonal questline. Blizzard says this unlocks Prime Evil Powers for all characters in that partition.

Do not treat that procedure as a general wardrobe reset. If only a transmog is missing, locked or unregistered while seasonal progression works normally, the evidence points to a different equipment or wardrobe issue. The patch notes do not say that creating a new character restores every missing cosmetic.
What to include in a support report
- Platform and game build, including whether you are on 3.2.2 or 3.2.3.
- Character class, seasonal status and partition: Normal, Hardcore, Normal SSF or Hardcore SSF.
- The exact item or appearance name and whether it was equipped, newly acquired, previously unlocked or salvaged.
- Whether the problem is an invisible model, an empty equipment slot, a missing wardrobe entry, a locked appearance or blocked Prime Evil Powers.
- A screenshot or recording showing the relevant equipment, wardrobe or quest screen.
- The approximate time of the update, acquisition, salvage or first report of the problem.
This information helps separate the confirmed Lore Runeword Helm rendering bug and the Season 15 quest-progress bug from the broader set of player-reported wardrobe failures.
