Does the DCM561PB include a battery and charger?
Usually, no. The DCM561PB-QW listing explicitly says the tool is supplied without a battery and charger. DeWalt Ireland labels the DCM561PBS-XJ as tool-only and says batteries and chargers are sold separately. Retailers can bundle the same tool with a pack, charger or extra line under a different stock-keeping code, so read the box contents rather than relying on the model family name alone.
Why package descriptions can look contradictory
The public CHOICE page for the DCM561PB displays a $513.00 price in an Australian context and lists a trimmer, deflector, battery, charger and manual, while also stating that the battery and charger are bought separately. That page may combine tested-configuration fields with a general retail description. It is internally inconsistent and the price may be stale; verify the exact seller’s package, regional suffix and included battery before paying.

Cutting width, spool and line compatibility
A 330 mm swath covers a practical strip on each pass. The 330 mm value appears in the manual and DeWalt’s Danish specifications; CHOICE shows 32 cm, so use the number printed for your exact regional product when planning edging or estimating passes.
Both DeWalt regional pages specify bump feed and 2 mm line. The Irish page describes a 2 mm twisted line and links DT20652-QZ, a 2.5 mm by 68.6 m replacement-line product. That accessory reference does not establish that 2.5 mm line is approved for every DCM561PB variant. A thicker line can alter load, feed behavior and clearance, so match the diameter and profile stated in your model’s instructions.

A variable-speed trigger lets you control the motor between the selected range’s minimum and maximum. Grass density, line length, contact with hard edges and battery condition all affect the loaded speed, so rpm figures should not be read as a constant cutting rate.
Battery life: what is known and what is not
No reliable public runtime figure was available for the DCM561PB in the reviewed material. CHOICE lists battery-life-under-load as one of its test fields but keeps the result behind membership, and the visible page does not provide a minutes-per-charge value. It would therefore be misleading to promise a lawn size or a specific number of minutes from a 5.0 Ah pack.
The manual does document charging: a DCB184 18V 5.0 Ah battery takes about 90 minutes with the specified DCB105/DCB115 charger. That figure describes how long the pack takes to recharge under that charger combination. It is not an estimate of how long the trimmer will run, and a different charger or battery changes the result.
Factors that change runtime
- Battery capacity and age: a higher amp-hour pack generally stores more energy, while an older pack may deliver less usable capacity.
- Speed selection and trigger position: sustained high speed draws more power than light trimming at low speed.
- Vegetation: long, wet or woody growth loads the motor more heavily than short dry grass.
- Line condition: an overlong, damaged or incorrectly wound line can increase drag.
- Technique and stops: edging against hard surfaces and repeated acceleration consume more energy than steady passes.
To plan work responsibly, charge the pack fully, use the specified line and time your own first session. Record the battery capacity, speed setting and vegetation conditions; that personal baseline is more useful than applying an unverified universal runtime.

The battery you attach adds to all of them, and pack capacity changes both total mass and balance.
For acoustics, the manual reports 76 dB(A) emission sound pressure and 90 dB(A) sound power. Sound pressure is the level measured at the specified position and conditions; sound power characterizes the tool’s emitted acoustic output. Neither number predicts the exact level at a neighboring property, where distance, walls and vegetation matter. Use hearing protection and observe local noise rules when operating any powered trimmer.
Vibration emission is listed as below 2.5 m/s² under EN50636-2-91:2014. DeWalt cautions that actual vibration can differ with the application, accessories and maintenance. Take breaks, keep the head and line in good condition and stop if the tool develops an unusual vibration rather than assuming the published figure still applies.
What performance can you reasonably expect?
The available product descriptions support a narrow conclusion: this is a 33 cm-class cordless trimmer intended for grass and weeds, with the Irish page additionally mentioning shrub pruning and removal work. The brushless 400 W claim, two speed ranges and variable trigger indicate a controllable 18V tool, but they do not establish cutting speed in long grass, edging quality, battery endurance or comfort.

The trimmer stops under load
