The De’Longhi Pinguino Care4Me PAC EL112 CST WiFi is a cooling-only portable air conditioner with app-based comfort features, not a lightweight, hose-free alternative to a fixed unit. Its advertised 11,000 BTU/h (2.9 kW) capacity and smart controls may suit someone who wants to manage cooling around their routine, but the 33 kg appliance still needs an exhaust route to a window. The key buying cautions are that the 110 m³ suitability figure is room volume, not floor area, and the energy-saving and noise claims come from De’Longhi rather than an independent test.
What the PAC EL112 CST WiFi is—and what it is not
This white Pinguino Care4Me model is a single-hose portable air conditioner. De’Longhi lists cooling capacity at 11,000 BTU/h and 2.9 kW, with suitability for rooms up to 110 m³. The 2.9 kW figure is specified at 35°C and 40% relative humidity under EN14511; the room-size figure is a volume, not a promise that it will cool any particular floor area regardless of ceiling height, sunlight, insulation, or heat load. De’Longhi’s product page gives the manufacturer’s capacity and feature specifications.
CHOICE identifies the model as cooling-only, rather than a heat-pump air conditioner. It also lists fan-only and dehumidifying operation among the available modes, so those functions should not be mistaken for heating. The manufacturer lists three fan speeds and dehumidification of up to 41 L per day; that daily figure is a manufacturer specification, not a guarantee of water removal in every home.

The product fiche’s 0.9 kWh per 60 minutes is a standardized result, not a prediction that every household will use exactly that amount each hour. Actual use depends on factors such as room conditions and settings. Likewise, compare the 63 dB sound-power declaration only with another sound-power figure measured on a comparable basis—not with a sound-pressure reading taken at a particular distance.

Are the WiFi and comfort features useful?
App control and geofencing
De’Longhi advertises app control and geofencing, which can switch the unit on as the user approaches home. It also says the air conditioner can pair with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. These are manufacturer-described functions; compatibility and availability should be checked for the product variant and services in your region.
MyEcoRealFeel and the claimed energy saving
MyEcoRealFeel is described as an app setting that asks whether you feel comfortable and adjusts operation accordingly. De’Longhi claims it can save up to 30% energy, based on an internal test beginning at 30°C and 40% relative humidity. That is a conditional manufacturer claim, not an independently established saving or a forecast for a particular household.

Smart remote and sensing
Cool Surround uses temperature and humidity sensing around the smart remote. The intended feedback point is therefore near the person holding the remote, rather than solely at the appliance. That may be useful when the unit’s position and the occupant’s location differ, though the available evidence does not establish a measured comfort advantage.

What “up to 50% quieter” means
De’Longhi calls its Silent Technology “up to 50% quieter.” Its footnote describes a laboratory comparison of maximum sound level at maximum fan speed against minimum fan speed. This is a relative comparison between operating settings, not an absolute noise rating or proof that the unit is quiet enough for a bedroom. The product fiche’s separate 63 dB value is indoor sound power and should not be treated as a directly comparable sound-pressure reading.

Installation and portability: the practical trade-off
The appliance needs its exhaust hose routed to the outside, so “portable” does not mean it can cool a closed room without installation. CHOICE lists a window kit and exhaust hose as supplied with its tested model, but regional packages and window arrangements can differ. Check the included kit and whether it can seal your specific window before relying on it; the listed hose is 120 cm long and 150 mm in diameter.
At 33 kg, moving it between rooms is possible in principle but not effortless. Check the route, thresholds, storage space, and where the hose can be vented before choosing it for a home where frequent relocation is important.

CHOICE’s public listing identifies the product as cooling-only and reports 2.9 kW capacity, 33 kg weight, dimensions of 75 × 45 × 41 cm, a 120 cm duct, R290 refrigerant, three fan speeds, and a supplied remote, window kit, and exhaust hose. Its detailed Expert Rating, cooling and energy-efficiency scores, high-fan noise result, running costs, and recommended status are behind membership access. For Australia and New Zealand, De’Longhi’s official spares storefront lists parts for model code 0151462015, described as PAC EL 112 CST WIFI WH R290 (2023). The listing includes a 150 mm air hose, stopper, connector, flange with stopper, and adapter. This is a region- and model-code-specific parts route, not proof that those parts fit every regional variant or revision. Match the appliance’s exact code before ordering. When accessed in 2026, De’Longhi’s EN product page showed the model out of stock. That is a dated observation for that regional page only, not a statement about global stock. The CHOICE page showed AUD $989, but its displayed price may be stale and is not a current purchase recommendation. Check the manufacturer’s regional product page for current local availability.
Who should consider it?
- Consider it if you need cooling in a room where a hose can reach a suitable window, want app-based controls, and can accommodate a 33 kg appliance.
- Check carefully first if your room is near the stated 110 m³ limit, because that is a manufacturer’s volume guideline and room conditions affect cooling needs.
- Look elsewhere if you need heating, a hose-free installation, independent proof of especially low noise, or a portable unit that is easy to carry between rooms.
For refrigerant safety, the EU product fiche advises: “Never try to interfere with the refrigerant circuit yourself or disassemble the product yourself and always ask a professional.” Read the product fiche.
