Short answer: the De’Longhi Magnifica Evo Titan ECAM290.83.TB is a convenience-first bean-to-cup machine for households that want espresso, long coffee, milk drinks and hot water from touch controls rather than a manual brewing routine. The UK EX:1 listing specifies a 1.8 L water tank, 250 g bean hopper, 240 × 440 × 360 mm footprint and 220–240 V, 1450 W electrical input. Those figures make it a substantial countertop appliance, not a compact pod machine.
It looks most suitable when several people share one machine and the priority is a broad one-touch menu with an integrated grinder and a milk carafe. It is a less certain choice if you need independently verified taste, temperature consistency, noise, durability or repair-cost data: the available material is manufacturer product and support information, not hands-on testing. Confirm the exact regional suffix, rating plate, warranty and current price before buying.
What the Magnifica Evo Titan ECAM290.83.TB is
The ECAM290.83.TB is a fully automatic bean-to-cup coffee machine. Whole beans go into an integrated hopper, the machine grinds them immediately before brewing, and drinks are selected from a touch-control panel. A separate milk carafe handles the milk-based menu, while a hot-water option can be used for a simple hot drink.
De’Longhi’s UK product page calls the listing “Magnifica Evo Fully Automatic Bean to Cup Coffee Machine – Titanium/Black” and identifies the reviewed version as model ECAM290.83.TB EX:1. That suffix matters. Official pages also show regional or revision identifiers such as EX:2, so a listing that says only “ECAM290.83.TB” may not describe every electrical or accessory detail of the unit sold in your country.

Specifications at a glance
The following are listing specifications for the UK EX:1 variant, not universal specifications for every market.
| Specification | UK EX:1 listing | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Dimensions | 240 × 440 × 360 mm | Check width, depth and height against the counter and overhead cabinets. The listing presents the three dimensions in this order. |
| Weight | 9.6 kg | Allow for a stable, permanent position; moving it for every drink will be inconvenient. |
| Water tank | 1.8 L | A useful household reservoir, but actual refill frequency depends on drink size, rinsing and milk use. |
| Bean container | 250 g | Holds a normal retail bag of beans; the machine uses beans from the integrated grinder. |
| Maximum cup height | 140 mm | Measure your travel mug or tall glass before purchase. |
| Pump pressure | 15 bar | A manufacturer specification, not a guarantee of extraction quality or taste. |
| Controls | Touch controls | Selection is designed around one-touch drink icons rather than manual portafilter preparation. |
| Electrical rating | 220–240 V, 1450 W | Applies to the UK EX:1 listing; verify the rating plate for your country. |
The 440 mm listed depth is easy to underestimate. Leave enough clearance to open the water tank, remove the bean container and take out the drip tray or grounds components as directed by the local manual. A machine can fit within the measured footprint yet still be awkward to service if it is pushed tightly beneath a cabinet or against a wall.
Seven drinks, one-touch focus
The manufacturer lists seven one-touch selections. They cover short coffee, larger coffee, milk drinks and hot water without requiring a separate espresso machine.

|---|---|---|
| MyLatte | A milk-based program that uses the milk poured into the carafe. | Useful when you want to use the amount of milk already in the carafe rather than measure a fixed volume. |
| Cappuccino | Automatic coffee-and-milk drink. | A familiar option for a breakfast or after-dinner routine. |
| Espresso | Short coffee selection. | Best suited to a small cup; cup clearance is still limited by the 140 mm maximum. |
| Coffee | Standard coffee selection. | For a conventional cup rather than a concentrated espresso serving. |
| Long | Long coffee selection. | For a larger, less concentrated serving from the one-touch menu. |
| Latte Macchiato | Layered milk-and-coffee style drink. | Provides a second milk recipe without manual steaming. |
| Hot Water | Hot-water dispensing. | Useful for tea, instant drinks or preheating a cup. |
The table describes the named programs, not independently measured volumes, temperatures or ratios. The product page does not establish how much liquid each selection dispenses, how many user adjustments are available, or whether every program can be customized in the same way. Use the controls and the regional instructions to learn the settings offered on your exact revision.
How the bean-to-cup workflow works
Bean-to-cup automation combines grinding, dosing, brewing and dispensing in one appliance. You load beans into the hopper, fill the water tank, place a cup under the outlet and choose a drink. The machine performs the internal preparation and dispenses the result; there is no separate portafilter, dosing scale or milk pitcher to manage.

De’Longhi says the machine grinds beans immediately before brewing and leaves minimal residual coffee in the unit. The exact product wording is: “The machine grinds your beans right before you use them to preserve the coffee aroma, and leaves minimal residual coffee in the unit to ensure your next cup is just as fresh.” That is manufacturer product copy, not a laboratory measurement. It does not establish a particular retention mass, freshness period or taste outcome.
The integrated grinder makes whole beans the natural consumable. The available material does not specify grinder adjustment positions, supported pre-ground operation, dose range or a recommended roast. Choose beans appropriate to your taste and follow the regional manual for any restrictions on oily, flavored or unusually large beans; do not infer those limits from the product name alone.

Milk drinks and the LatteCrema Hot carafe
The milk system is the main convenience feature beyond basic bean-to-cup brewing. The product page identifies LatteCrema Hot, a milk carafe with automatic cleaning, and the MyLatte function. MyLatte is described as using the milk poured into the carafe, so it is intended to reduce the need to estimate a fixed milk quantity when you have a particular amount available.
Automatic cleaning does not mean the carafe can be ignored. Milk is perishable and leaves residue in passages, the lid and the dispensing outlet. The support center provides milk-carafe-cleaning guidance, but the retrieved information does not expose the exact rinse timing, disassembly method, storage instruction or whether individual parts are dishwasher-safe. Follow the instructions for your market and revision rather than applying a generic cleaning schedule.
A practical milk routine
- Use a clean carafe and fresh, refrigerated milk suitable for the drink you want.
- Pour only the amount you expect to use, because the MyLatte program is described as working from the milk in the carafe.
- Select the required milk drink from the touch panel and keep the cup positioned under the outlets.
- Run the machine’s prescribed milk-cleaning cycle immediately after the session or at the interval stated in the local manual.
- Remove, rinse and store the carafe as the manual directs; do not assume that room-temperature storage or an unwashed outlet is acceptable.
This routine explains the workflow, not an independently verified cleaning burden. In a shared kitchen, the person who empties and cleans the carafe should be part of the buying decision: a milk system saves steaming time but adds food-contact maintenance.

Setup before the first drink
The official support center provides setup, control-panel, drink-preparation, descaling, care-and-maintenance, hot-water/steam and milk-carafe-cleaning instructions. Because the available summary does not reproduce every button sequence, use the exact regional manual for the final procedure. The following checklist covers the decisions that should happen before you start:
- Match the model. Check that the carton, product listing and rating plate all identify ECAM290.83.TB and the correct suffix, such as EX:1 or EX:2.
- Check the electrical supply. The UK EX:1 listing is 220–240 V and 1450 W. Do not connect an imported unit until its rating matches your local supply and plug requirements.
- Choose the counter position. Reserve the 240 mm width and 440 mm depth, plus clearance to remove the tank, beans and drip-tray components.
- Fill the water tank and bean container. Use the capacities as limits—1.8 L of water and 250 g of beans—not as a requirement to fill both completely for every session.
- Complete the initial prompts. Follow the manual’s language, water-hardness and rinse/setup instructions, because those steps can vary by region and revision.
- Prepare the milk carafe only when needed. Keep milk handling separate from the first black-coffee setup and follow the cleaning instructions before putting the carafe into regular use.
Do not substitute a named descaler or cleaning chemical based only on a retailer description. The support material confirms that descaling and care guidance exists, but it does not establish a universally compatible product SKU.
Cleaning, descaling and upkeep
Automatic coffee machines need a maintenance routine even when brewing is one touch. Coffee oils, grounds, water minerals and milk residue all reach different parts of the system. The support center specifically covers descaling, care and maintenance, hot-water/steam functions and milk-carafe cleaning.
What is established
- The machine has a milk-carafe cleaning procedure documented by the manufacturer.
- Descaling and general care instructions are available from the official ECAM290.83.TB support center.
- The available product and support information does not state fixed cleaning intervals for every component.
- No particular compatible descaler SKU is verified in the available material.
How to plan maintenance
Read the regional manual before setting calendar reminders. Water hardness, drink volume and the machine’s prompts can affect when descaling is required. Treat the carafe as a food-contact component that needs attention after milk use, and follow the manual for the brew group, grounds container, drip tray, water filter (if supplied with your revision) and external surfaces. If a warning appears, complete the named procedure rather than clearing it without maintenance.
Counter space, capacity and household fit
The machine’s 240 mm width is moderate, but its 440 mm depth and 9.6 kg weight make it a permanent appliance for most kitchens. Measure the usable counter, not just the open gap between cabinets. You need room to lift out the water tank and bean container and to access removable waste and drip components.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
The 1.8 L tank and 250 g hopper support repeated use, but capacity is not the same as a guaranteed cup count. Every drink can use a different amount of water, and rinsing or milk preparation can consume additional water. A household that makes many milk drinks may refill or clean more often than a household that makes occasional espresso.
The 140 mm maximum cup height is a concrete constraint. Measure the total height of the mug or glass you intend to use, including any thick base. Tall travel cups may not fit even if their nominal volume is modest. For larger drinks, a shorter wide mug may be more practical than a tall tumbler.
Electrical and regional-variant checks
Electrical compatibility is a purchase requirement, not a minor detail. The UK listing specifies 220–240 V and 1450 W for EX:1. Those values should not be generalized to every country. Voltage, plug, certification, included accessories and even the revision suffix can differ across markets.
Before ordering an overseas listing, verify:
- the voltage and frequency printed on the machine’s rating plate;
- the exact ECAM290.83.TB suffix shown on the seller’s documentation;
- the plug and local conformity markings;
- whether the local service network will support an imported unit;
- the warranty territory and return process.
A plug adapter does not convert voltage. If the rating does not match your supply, do not rely on an adapter alone; buy a local electrical variant or obtain qualified advice.
What the specifications do—and do not—tell you
A 15-bar pump specification is common marketing shorthand for the pump’s maximum capability. It does not tell you the pressure at the coffee puck during extraction, the brew temperature, flow profile or flavor balance. Likewise, a stated grinder and “fresh” grinding claim do not establish grind consistency, retention, crema or extraction yield.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
There is no independent evidence here for noise level, warm-up time, milk-foam texture, temperature stability, reliability, repairability, service cost or long-term ownership value. Those are meaningful buying questions, but they require hands-on tests, service records or additional documentation. Do not treat the product page’s convenience language as a substitute for those measurements.
Who is likely to appreciate it
Good fit
- Households wanting espresso, long coffee, cappuccino and latte-style drinks from one appliance.
- Users who prefer touch selections and an integrated grinder over manual dosing and tamping.
- Shared kitchens where a 1.8 L tank and 250 g hopper reduce constant refilling.
- Buyers who can dedicate roughly 240 × 440 mm of counter depth and accept a 9.6 kg machine.
- People willing to clean a milk carafe and follow the regional descaling routine.
Look elsewhere or investigate further if
- You need a compact machine for a shallow counter or a cup taller than 140 mm.
- You require independently measured coffee quality, noise or temperature results before buying.
- You want full manual control over grind, dose, pressure and milk steaming.
- You cannot verify that the local electrical rating matches the UK EX:1 figures.
- You want a maintenance schedule or descaler recommendation that is already fully specified on the product page.
How to compare it with alternatives
Compare machines by the routine they support rather than by pump pressure alone. Use the same questions for every candidate:
| Comparison area | Questions to ask | Evidence to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Drink menu | Does it provide the short, long, milk and hot-water drinks your household actually uses? | Exact model page and regional manual. |
| Customization | Can you change volume, strength, temperature or user profiles? | Manual; the available listing does not state the full adjustment range. |
| Milk workflow | Is the carafe automatic, removable and practical to clean after every session? | Cleaning diagrams, parts information and your own tolerance for milk maintenance. |
| Footprint | Will the machine fit with enough clearance to remove tanks and trays? | Published dimensions plus your counter measurements. |
| Capacity | Are the water and bean capacities appropriate for daily volume? | Published tank and hopper capacities; avoid translating them into an assumed cup count. |
| Electrical fit | Does the exact regional model match your voltage, frequency and plug? | Rating plate, local listing and warranty terms. |
| Ownership | What are the warranty, service route, consumables and current purchase price? | Local seller and manufacturer support pages; these details are not established by the UK product listing alone. |
Buying checklist for the exact ECAM290.83.TB
- Copy the complete model and suffix from the seller’s listing, not just the Magnifica Evo family name.
- Check that the finish and included milk carafe match the description of the unit you intend to buy.
- Compare the seller’s dimensions with your counter, cabinet and mug measurements.
- Confirm voltage, frequency, plug, warranty territory and return rights.
- Open the regional support page and read the setup, milk-cleaning and descaling instructions before ordering consumables.
- Price the machine with realistic upkeep in mind: whole beans, water treatment if specified locally, and approved cleaning or descaling supplies.
- Decide whether the seven listed one-touch drinks cover your household or whether you need more customization than the listing promises.
- Look for independent evidence if noise, extraction quality, milk texture or durability is decisive; none of those outcomes is verified by the manufacturer specifications alone.
Evidence-based verdict
The ECAM290.83.TB makes a coherent case as a shared, convenience-oriented automatic coffee machine: seven one-touch selections, an integrated bean grinder, a LatteCrema Hot milk carafe, MyLatte operation and sizeable 1.8 L/250 g capacities. The UK EX:1 dimensions and 9.6 kg weight also make its space requirement clear before purchase.
Whether it is worth buying depends on fit rather than a proven “best” ranking. Buy it when the local variant matches your electrical supply, the counter can accommodate 440 mm depth, the 140 mm cup limit is acceptable and you are comfortable maintaining a milk system. Delay the decision when you need independently measured taste, noise, reliability or long-term cost data, or when the seller cannot document the exact regional suffix and warranty.
