Prepare for a structured case discussion: clarify the objective, state your assumptions, organize your analysis, explain your reasoning aloud, and end with a practical recommendation and next steps. Also prepare concise, truthful examples that demonstrate analytical work, teamwork, communication, attention to detail, and how you handled uncertainty.
What to expect from the interview
Deloitte says entry-level candidates for Consultative Offerings roles may encounter a case or scenario interview that tests problem-solving, analytical ability, and strategic and logical thinking. The cases are fictional examples of client project types, not necessarily questions about a candidate’s prior experience. Deloitte also highlights creativity, comfort with ambiguity, adaptability, clear thinking, practical judgment, and a professional demeanor. Deloitte’s interview guidance describes its approach, but is general guidance rather than a promise about this specific GPS Cyber role.
One candidate invited to interview for the Summer 2027 role reported on October 2, 2026, that the first round included a 30-minute profile interview and a 30-minute case interview, followed by a 30-minute behavioral interview if advanced. Deloitte’s guidance recommends taking notes, confirming the objective, developing and explaining a framework and initial hypothesis, organizing your thoughts, and connecting your analysis into a clear story. Treat the case as a collaborative business discussion: make your reasoning visible rather than waiting to deliver a polished answer at the end.

- Understand the issue. Restate the goal in your own words and ask only clarifying questions that could change your analysis.
- Identify assumptions. Make important assumptions explicit, especially when information is missing. Keep them reasonable and be ready to revise them if new facts emerge.
- Organize the analysis. Lay out a simple structure, explain why it fits the problem, and state an initial hypothesis if useful.
- Work through the evidence. Take notes, explain your calculations or logic, and connect findings to the stated objective.
- Recommend and look ahead. Give a practical recommendation with its rationale and relevant risks. Then identify next steps and how you would assess expected results or impact.

Prepare examples that fit the Cyber Strategy role
A reposted description of the Cyber Strategy Summer Scholar role says scholars support client-service teams, public-sector transformation, security-posture recommendations, and cyber-risk reduction. It names analytical and technical skills, research, independent and team work, written and verbal communication, attention to detail, relationship building, prioritization, and meeting deadlines. Prepare examples from coursework, projects, internships, volunteering, or another team setting. For each example, be ready to explain the context, your personal contribution, the analysis or decision you made, the outcome, what you learned, and what you would change. Useful prompts—not confirmed interview questions—include:
- When did you investigate a difficult problem or make sense of incomplete information?
- How have you explained technical material to someone without the same background?
- How did you work through disagreement or contribute to a team decision?
- How did you prioritize competing tasks and meet a deadline?
- What did you do to catch a detail that could have changed the result?
Keep each story specific and truthful. Focus on your actions and reasoning, not just what the group accomplished.

How to handle a cybersecurity-flavored scenario
A cyber-related case is possible, but the available evidence does not establish that this interview’s case will be cybersecurity-specific. If the scenario does involve cyber risk, start with the mission and business need rather than jumping straight to a tool or technical fix:
- Clarify what needs protection and what impact matters to the organization or the people it serves.
- Separate what is known from what remains uncertain, and identify relevant constraints.
- Identify plausible risks and compare response options, including tradeoffs.
- Recommend sensible next steps and explain how you would judge whether they worked.
