The Dell XPS Googlebook is the most convincing Googlebook choice for Android users because its Snapdragon X Elite processor runs Android apps natively, rather than translating them from another chip architecture. The 13-inch, 2.5K touchscreen laptop starts with 512GB of storage, links to an Android phone for notifications and app access, and adds Gemini features throughout GooglebookOS. Its reported US launch price was $1,199, so the Android advantages need to justify a premium purchase.
What the Dell XPS Googlebook is
The Dell model is one of five Googlebook laptops launched in September and October 2026. It combines a premium 13-inch design with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite ARM processor, a touchscreen rated at 2.5K resolution, and at least 512GB of storage. Launch models also include haptic trackpads and backlit keyboards.
GooglebookOS is best understood as ChromeOS rebuilt around Android. It retains the Chromebook-style operating-system foundation while adding deeper Android phone integration, Google Play app distribution and Gemini tools across the interface. Apps come from Google Play rather than a separate desktop-only catalogue.

Why Android users get the biggest benefit
Native ARM Android apps
Dell and HP are the two Qualcomm-based Googlebooks in the launch group. Their ARM processors match the architecture for which many Android apps were originally designed, allowing the Dell XPS Googlebook to run those apps natively.
Acer, ASUS and Lenovo launch models use Intel processors and a translation layer for Android software. Google says the vast majority of Android apps run smoothly on both Intel and Qualcomm models, but a small number of complex apps and games may need developer tuning to perform their best on Intel. Google has not identified the affected applications, and controlled public testing was limited at launch.

| Googlebook configuration | Processor architecture | Android execution | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dell XPS Googlebook | Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite (ARM) | Native | Closest match for ARM-designed Android apps |
| HP Qualcomm Googlebook | Qualcomm ARM | Native | Also avoids the Intel translation layer |
| Acer, ASUS and Lenovo models | Intel | Translation layer | Most apps should work, but some demanding apps or games may need optimization |
Phone notifications and app access
Googlebook can synchronize notifications from an Android phone, provide a device hub and open phone apps on the laptop without asking you to duplicate the app or sign in again. That makes the Dell more useful for anyone who regularly switches between a phone and a computer for messaging, social apps, authentication and mobile-first services.

The integration is different from merely installing an Android app from Google Play. Phone-linked access is designed to keep the phone and laptop workflow together, while native ARM execution lets locally installed Android apps run without the Intel translation step.

Gemini is built into the operating system
Gemini is integrated through GooglebookOS rather than being limited to a browser tab. The launch description includes Magic Pointer access, system search, summaries, calendar organization and custom widgets. These features put generative assistance alongside ordinary laptop controls and productivity tools.
Most Gemini interactions generally use the cloud, so they depend on an internet connection and on Google’s online services. Buyers should also treat the bundled Google AI Pro period as a time-limited benefit when calculating the long-term cost.

- Storage: at least 512GB.
- Input: haptic trackpad and backlit keyboard.
- Materials: premium materials across the launch Googlebook lineup.

The compact screen size favors portability while retaining a higher-resolution display than a basic Chromebook. The available reports do not establish a Dell-specific independent battery result, so no precise battery-hour claim should be used to decide between models.

Who should buy it?
Best fit: Android-first laptop buyers
Choose the Dell when Android is central to your workflow and you want phone notifications, phone-app access and native Android execution in one device. The ARM design is particularly attractive if you rely on demanding Android apps or games and want to minimize architecture-related compatibility concerns.
Consider another Googlebook when price matters most
The lineup begins at a reported $899, making Intel models less expensive than the Dell at launch. Google expects most Android apps to work on Intel, so buyers who mainly use web apps and ordinary mobile apps may not gain enough from native ARM execution to justify the Dell’s premium.
Check your cloud dependence
Gemini’s cloud-based interactions require connectivity, and the included Google AI Pro access may become a recurring expense after one year. Factor that into the ownership decision if Gemini is a major reason for choosing Googlebook.

Bottom line
The Dell XPS Googlebook is the clearest Android-focused option in the first Googlebook generation. Its Snapdragon X Elite platform runs Android apps natively, while GooglebookOS connects an Android phone to the laptop and places Gemini tools throughout the interface. At $1,199 in the US at launch, it is not the cheapest Googlebook, but it is the strongest match for Android users who value compatibility and phone continuity more than the lowest entry price.
