Sometimes, but not on every XPS 2-in-1. Whether a pen comes in the box depends on the exact model, configuration, market and order. Dell shows an XPS Stylus bundled with one XPS 13 9315 configuration, while its XPS 13 9365 specification explicitly says the compatible PN556W pen is optional and sold separately.
Pen inclusion depends on the exact XPS 2-in-1 and configuration
“XPS 2-in-1” covers multiple models and generations, so a bundle shown for one device does not establish what came with another—or with every configuration of the same model. A compatibility listing tells you whether a pen is listed for a computer; it does not prove that the pen was included when that computer was purchased.

How to check whether your order included a pen
- Identify the complete model. Find the model number—such as 9365, 7390, 9310 or 9315—in your order details or on the computer. The broad “XPS 2-in-1” name is not specific enough to confirm pen inclusion or compatibility.
- Check the order summary or configuration. Look for an explicit pen or stylus entry in the itemized configuration. For the 9315, for example, the cited Dell listing shows the XPS Stylus alongside the XPS Folio for one configuration.
- Check the exact SKU and region. Dell’s configuration listings can vary with selected options and market. A product page for a different configuration or country may not match your order.
- Ask Dell support to check the order or service tag if the record is unclear. Your exact order record is more reliable than a general claim about an XPS family. A model compatibility page can help identify a supported pen, but it cannot confirm what a previous buyer received.
Check compatibility before buying a replacement pen
Dell’s XPS Stylus User’s Guide describes the stylus as “specifically designed for use with selected XPS computers” and directs customers to Dell compatibility information. Match the pen to your complete laptop model rather than assuming that a pen supported by one XPS 2-in-1 works with all of them.

Before ordering, verify the complete model on Dell’s compatibility information and confirm that the listing is for the pen model you intend to buy. The cited sources establish compatibility and some model-specific bundle details, but do not compare pen performance or current prices.
