The Dell Pro Precision 7 Series 16 (model PW716260) is a configurable mobile workstation, not one fixed specification. Its strongest on-paper draws are professional graphics options, a choice of WUXGA or high-resolution tandem OLED screens, and a broad set of ports. The trade-offs to weigh are a starting weight of 4.78 lb (2.17 kg) and a high, configuration-dependent price. Dell’s published specifications do not establish real-world speed, battery life, cooling, or fan noise, so those are questions to verify for your workload rather than settled review verdicts.
What is the Dell Pro Precision 7 16?
Dell identifies the PW716260 as the Dell Pro Precision 7 Series 16 Laptop. It is a configurable professional laptop whose processor, graphics, display, memory, storage, and operating system depend on the selected configuration and market. Dell describes it as a thin, light 16-inch laptop with Series 3 Intel Core Ultra processors, NVIDIA graphics, and on-device AI; that is manufacturer marketing, not independent performance evidence. Dell’s US product page is the reference for current options and pricing.
How much does the Dell Pro Precision 7 16 cost?
Dell’s US configurator displayed a price of $3,418 for the selected configuration on October 13, 2026. That selection was configured with a Core Ultra 7 356H, 16 GB LPDDR5x memory, a 512 GB Gen4 SSD, integrated Intel graphics, a 16-inch WUXGA display, and a 96 Wh battery. Treat the figure as a dated US listing snapshot, not a fixed price for every PW716260: changing options changes the total, and availability and pricing may differ by region. Check Dell’s live configurator for your market before buying.
Which processors and graphics options are available?
The US configurator lists Intel Core Ultra 7 356H, Core Ultra 7 366H vPro, Core Ultra X7 368H vPro, and Core Ultra 9 386H vPro processor options. Graphics shown include integrated Intel Arc or Arc Pro graphics and a configuration with NVIDIA RTX Pro 1000 Blackwell. A selected configuration’s specifications should not be confused with the family’s available options: for example, the displayed $3,418 selection uses integrated Intel graphics, while Dell also exposes a base option with RTX Pro 1000 Blackwell graphics and 32 GB memory.

Dell lists an NPU rated at 50 TOPS for the selected processor and several alternatives. That is a manufacturer-listed specification, not a measurement of how quickly a particular AI application will run. Confirm the processor and graphics shown in the exact configuration you intend to order; Dell notes that component availability can vary by region and release timing.
Which display should you choose?
| Option listed by Dell | Resolution and touch | Refresh rate | Brightness and color |
|---|---|---|---|
| WUXGA antiglare panel | 1920 × 1200; non-touch | 120 Hz | 500 nits; 100% DCI-P3 |
| Tandem OLED option | 3840 × 2400; touch status not stated on the cited product page | 120 Hz | 500 nits; 100% DCI-P3; VESA HDR True Black 1000 |
The WUXGA panel is the listed non-touch option; the OLED option offers four times as many pixels by resolution dimensions and an explicitly listed HDR certification. Match the panel to the applications and content you use, and confirm the precise option in the live configurator rather than assuming it comes with every processor or graphics selection.

Is the Dell Pro Precision 7 16 good for CAD?
It may suit CAD and other professional workloads if the exact configuration is compatible with the applications, versions, and drivers you rely on. Dell says it works with software vendors to test and certify industry applications, but that general statement does not establish certification for a particular application, version, operating system, or configuration. Verify the specific certification with the software vendor or Dell before purchasing.

What ports does the Dell Pro Precision 7 16 have?
Dell lists two Thunderbolt 5 ports, one Thunderbolt 4 port, HDMI 2.1, a headset jack, and an SD-card slot. That is a useful selection for desk setups, peripherals, and external displays on paper. It does not guarantee that every dock, monitor, cable, resolution, or multi-display arrangement will work together. Check the compatibility requirements for the specific dock and displays you plan to use.
How heavy is it, and what does the battery specification tell you?
Dell lists a starting weight of 4.78 lb (2.17 kg) and a 96 Wh battery. The weight is a starting figure, not a guarantee for every configuration, and battery capacity is not a runtime estimate. Dell’s product specifications do not establish how long the laptop lasts under a particular workload; prospective buyers who need all-day unplugged use should look for testing under conditions comparable to their own rather than infer runtime from the capacity alone.

How much memory, storage, and operating-system choice is there?
The US configurator shows multiple memory and SSD choices. Dell lists SSD configurations of 512 GB, 1 TB, 2 TB, and 4 TB in different drive formats and classes; some are substantial configuration upgrades on the displayed US page. Options and combinations vary, so confirm the selected drive and price in the configuration you are ordering. The configurator does not, by itself, establish that a drive or memory can be upgraded by the owner or that a particular replacement part is compatible. Dell provides model-specific service information through its support page and service manual.

Who should consider it—and who should look elsewhere?
- Consider it if you need a configurable 16-inch professional system, can identify the processor and graphics configuration your applications require, and value the listed Thunderbolt and display options.
- Compare alternatives carefully if frequent travel, low carry weight, or predictable unplugged runtime is central to your decision. The listed starting weight is 4.78 lb, and no independent battery testing is established here.
- Do not buy on a general certification claim alone if a specific CAD, design, or engineering application must be certified. Verify the exact app, version, OS, and configuration.
- Budget for the complete configuration you need. The cited US price applies to one dated selection, and upgrades to the processor, display, memory, or storage can change the total.
