Verdict: The Dell Pro 5 14 is a well-balanced 14-inch business laptop when configured with the tested 120Hz IPS panel and Intel Core Ultra X7 368H. Notebookcheck measured a bright, high-contrast screen, and its benchmark results show strong everyday and productivity performance. The compromises are specific rather than pervasive: USB-C charging is confined to the left side, and the SSD and integrated graphics lose a small amount of performance during sustained stress. Dell sells the P514260 with several processors, displays, memory capacities and batteries, so the tested results must not be treated as specifications for every Dell Pro 5 14.

Which Dell Pro 5 14 is this review about?

Dell’s US product listing identifies the laptop as the Dell Pro 5 Series 14 Laptop, model P514260. The family is sold in multiple configurations. The machine independently tested by Notebookcheck is the important reference for performance and display measurements in this review; Dell’s specification page is the reference for the available options and ports.

Dell currently shows a US configuration with an Intel Core Ultra 5 335 processor, 16 GB of DDR5 memory, a 512 GB SSD and a 14-inch, non-touch 1920×1200 display. That is not the same processor configuration Notebookcheck benchmarked. Notebookcheck tested a substantially higher configuration using Intel’s Core Ultra X7 368H, and its reported scores belong to that machine.

Display: the tested IPS panel is a genuine strength

Notebookcheck’s measured results

The Notebookcheck test unit used a 14-inch IPS display with a 1920×1200 resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. In its measurements, the panel averaged 560.2 cd/m² brightness. Brightness at the center on battery was 559.9 cd/m², so the result did not collapse when the charger was removed.

  • sRGB coverage: 96.9%
  • AdobeRGB coverage: 68.7%
  • Display P3 coverage: 66.5%
  • Contrast: 2333:1

Those numbers describe Notebookcheck’s individual panel, not the entire Pro 5 14 line. Dell lists a 400-nit, 62.5% sRGB, anti-glare, low-power WUXGA panel among its options. Notebookcheck also identifies seven display choices overall, including a single FHD OLED option, and notes that refresh-rate and power-saving capabilities vary. A buyer selecting the low-power WUXGA screen, the 120 Hz IPS screen or the OLED screen may therefore see materially different brightness, color coverage, contrast and battery behavior.

What the measurements mean in use

Approximately 560 cd/m² is ample headroom for bright offices and makes the tested panel more practical near windows than a typical 250- or 300-nit business screen. The near-97% sRGB result is suitable for web work, office graphics and general photo editing where an sRGB target is sufficient. The lower AdobeRGB and Display P3 figures mean it is not a wide-gamut professional reference display. If your work depends on a specific color space, verify the panel option rather than relying on the P514260 name.

The 1920×1200 format provides a 16:10 workspace, while 120 Hz can make scrolling and pointer movement look smoother than 60 Hz. That benefit is configuration-specific: Dell’s other panels may use a different refresh rate, and the low-power option’s published specification is 400 nits and 62.5% sRGB rather than the Notebookcheck measurements above.

Performance: strong results from the tested Core Ultra X7 configuration

Benchmark results

Notebookcheck’s Geekbench 6.7 table records 12,050 multi-core points and 2,924 single-core points for its Intel Core Ultra X7 368H test machine. These are the publication’s measured results for that processor, memory and cooling configuration. They are not guaranteed scores for the Core Ultra 5 335 configuration shown on Dell’s US page or for any other P514260 SKU.

  • What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.

In practical terms, the X7 368H configuration has the performance margin expected of a higher-end 14-inch business system: demanding office workloads, large spreadsheets, code builds and frequent multitasking have more headroom than they would on a lower-tier configuration. The sensible buying decision is to match the processor to your workload instead of paying for the X7 benchmark level when your work is limited to browser tabs, documents and meetings.

Sustained-load behavior

Notebookcheck observed modest throttling in the SSD and integrated graphics after several minutes of stress testing. The review judged the resulting performance dips negligible for most use cases. This distinction matters: a short benchmark run can show peak performance, while a long export, compile or graphics workload can expose the small reduction. The evidence supports calling the behavior a minor compromise, not a reason to reject the laptop for ordinary productivity.

The integrated graphics are appropriate for display output and everyday acceleration, but this is not a discrete-GPU workstation. Because the review concerns integrated graphics and the tested panel, do not use its results as a promise of gaming performance for every configuration.

Battery: separate Dell’s benchmark claim from independent runtime

Capacities listed for the family

Dell’s displayed US configuration uses a 57 Wh battery. Dell’s corporate product information also describes a 70 Wh option, and the larger battery appears in the footnote for a particular comparison configuration. Battery capacity, screen type and processor all influence runtime, so a 57 Wh model and a 70 Wh OLED model should not be compared as though they were the same machine.

What Dell’s MobileMark comparison actually tested

Dell says its April 2026 MobileMark 30 comparison included a Dell Pro 5 14 with Intel 368H vPro, integrated graphics, 32 GB of LPCAMM2 memory, a WUXGA non-touch OLED display in dark mode and a 70 Wh battery. The comparison system was a Dell Pro 14 Plus with Intel U5 236V vPro, integrated graphics, 16 GB of LPDDR5x memory, a WUXGA non-touch low-power display and a 55 Wh battery.

This is a manufacturer comparison between two specifically configured systems, not an independent battery result for Notebookcheck’s review unit. Dell cautions that actual battery life can be significantly lower and varies with configuration, software, workload, operating conditions and power settings. Treat the MobileMark figure as a controlled vendor benchmark, and check the exact battery and display before using it to choose a SKU.

Ports and wireless connectivity

Dell equips the Pro 5 14 with a practical selection for a business notebook:

Connection Officially listed capability Use or limitation
Thunderbolt 4 USB-C Two ports; both support Power Delivery and DisplayPort 2.1 Suitable for charging, docks and external displays.
USB-A Two ports, with one supporting PowerShare Useful for legacy peripherals; PowerShare can charge a device from the designated port.
HDMI HDMI 2.1, up to 4K at 60 Hz Allows a direct connection to a 4K monitor or television at 60 Hz.
Headset Global headset jack Works with compatible combined headset plugs.
Network Gigabit Ethernet Provides a wired alternative to Wi-Fi for desks and managed offices.
Optional expansion Nano-SIM tray and smart-card reader Availability depends on the chosen build and market.
Wireless Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth Core 6.0 qualification listed by Dell Verify regional configuration and network compatibility when ordering.

The USB-C placement compromise

Notebookcheck’s practical criticism is that both USB-C ports are on the left side. Because charging over USB-C is limited to those ports, a cable routed from the right side of a desk may be awkward, especially when other left-side connectors or a mouse setup occupy the same area. This is a small design issue, but it is one of the few concrete compromises identified in the independent review.

A Thunderbolt 4 dock can reduce cable swapping at a desk because either listed Thunderbolt port supports Power Delivery and DisplayPort 2.1. Match the dock’s charging output and monitor support to your setup; the presence of Thunderbolt 4 alone does not establish a particular dock’s compatibility or charging performance.

Camera, security and office features

Dell lists an FHD RGB HDR camera with an infrared sensor. The IR component enables compatible biometric sign-in features, while the RGB and HDR specifications describe the camera hardware rather than guaranteeing a particular video-call result in every lighting condition.

For managed deployments, the optional smart-card reader and nano-SIM tray can be decisive. They are not universal features of every P514260, so confirm that the exact configuration includes them before placing an order. The same configuration check applies to Dell’s optional Mini-LED backlit keyboard.

The minimum listed weight is 1.34 kg (2.96 lb). Dell notes that weight can depend on the build, so a larger battery, different display or optional hardware may change the figure.

Which configuration should you choose?

For general office, study and travel

The Core Ultra 5 335 configuration shown on Dell’s US listing, with 16 GB of DDR5 and a 512 GB SSD, is the logical starting point when your workload is documents, web applications, communication and media playback. Confirm the panel’s brightness, gamut and refresh rate before buying; the 400-nit, 62.5% sRGB low-power WUXGA option is a different proposition from Notebookcheck’s 560-cd/m², 120 Hz IPS sample.

For heavier multitasking and sustained CPU work

Consider the Core Ultra X7 368H configuration when you regularly compile code, process large datasets, run several demanding applications at once or perform long CPU-heavy exports. The 12,050 multi-core and 2,924 single-core Geekbench 6.7 results demonstrate what that tested configuration can deliver. Keep the small sustained-load dips in perspective: they were measurable in stress testing, but Notebookcheck considered them negligible for most users.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For display-sensitive work

Start with the panel specification, not the laptop name. The tested IPS panel’s 96.9% sRGB coverage and 2333:1 contrast are attractive for general creative work, while the listed low-power WUXGA option has 62.5% sRGB coverage. The single FHD OLED option may offer a different visual and power profile, but the available evidence does not establish its brightness, gamut or runtime. Ask the seller for the exact panel code or full specification.

  • On-the-Go Convenience: With an integrated handle and lightweight design (2.14 lbs), our lap desk is portable for travel or moving around the house, offering flexibility in any space.

For maximum unplugged capacity

Look for the 70 Wh battery option if it is offered in your region and paired with a suitable display. Do not assume that a 70 Wh battery is included simply because Dell describes it on a corporate page. The displayed US base configuration is 57 Wh, and Dell’s own benchmark footnote uses a particular 70 Wh OLED system.

For corporate deployment

Check for the smart-card reader, nano-SIM tray, camera configuration and any required vPro or memory option. These are SKU-level decisions, not guaranteed features of every P514260. Also verify warranty and support terms for the country where the laptop will be deployed; the available evidence does not establish one universal support package.

Compromises to understand before buying

  • USB-C is left-side only: both Thunderbolt 4 ports are placed on the left, so USB-C charging cannot be moved to the right side.
  • Performance varies by processor: Notebookcheck’s strong Geekbench scores are for the X7 368H, not the Core Ultra 5 335 configuration shown on Dell’s US page.
  • Sustained stress causes small dips: the SSD and integrated graphics throttle modestly after several minutes, although the independent review found the impact negligible for most use.
  • Displays are not interchangeable: Dell lists multiple panels, including a 400-nit low-power WUXGA option and Notebookcheck’s measured 120 Hz IPS panel, plus an FHD OLED choice. Brightness and gamut cannot be generalized across them.
  • Battery claims need context: Dell’s MobileMark comparison uses a specific 70 Wh OLED configuration and is not an independent result for the reviewed machine.
  • Optional features may disappear by SKU: the 70 Wh battery, smart-card reader, nano-SIM tray and Mini-LED keyboard require configuration-level confirmation.

Buying checklist for the Dell Pro 5 14 P514260

  1. Confirm the listing says P514260 and identify the processor model.
  2. Record the exact display resolution, panel technology, brightness, gamut and refresh rate. Do not substitute Notebookcheck’s IPS measurements for an unspecified panel.
  3. Check whether the battery is 57 Wh or 70 Wh and whether the larger option is actually available in your market.
  4. Verify memory type and capacity, SSD capacity and whether they meet your planned workload.
  5. Count the ports you need: two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C, two USB-A, HDMI 2.1, headset and Gigabit Ethernet are listed, while nano-SIM and smart-card functions are optional.
  6. If you plan to dock, ensure your dock supports the required monitor resolution and provides suitable USB-C Power Delivery.
  7. Confirm camera, biometric, wireless and corporate-management requirements before ordering.
  8. Check the local warranty and support configuration, since Dell’s US options and offers may not apply in another region.

Who should buy it?

The Dell Pro 5 14 makes the most sense for buyers who want a compact business laptop with modern wired connectivity, a 16:10 screen and the option of a high-performing Core Ultra processor. The tested IPS panel is unusually strong on brightness and contrast, and the port selection covers both legacy USB-A accessories and newer Thunderbolt docks. The machine’s weaknesses are manageable when you choose the right SKU.

It is a less certain choice for anyone shopping solely by the family name. A low-power 400-nit panel, an OLED panel and the tested 120 Hz IPS panel can produce different experiences, just as the Core Ultra 5 335 and X7 368H can produce different performance. The safest purchase is the one whose complete configuration is written down before checkout.

Bottom line

On the evidence available, the Dell Pro 5 14 P514260 earns the “few compromises” description for the tested X7 368H and 120 Hz IPS configuration: it combines a bright, high-contrast display, strong benchmark performance, useful business ports and a relatively light 1.34 kg starting weight. The qualification is essential. Dell sells several versions, and the display, processor, battery and optional corporate features can change the result. Buy the exact configuration—not just the Pro 5 14 badge—and the laptop is a well-rounded midrange option.
