The safest way to survive your first run in Deep Dish Dungeon is to treat every expedition as a loop: leave a prepared campsite, explore deliberately, collect useful resources, turn back before your supplies and options collapse, then craft tools and cook a meal before descending again. Food is not a cosmetic bonus; meals bolster strength, and recipes can change your stats for the next journey.
Deep Dish Dungeon is a dungeon crawler and exploration game from Behold Studios, published by Raw Fury. Its hand-crafted dungeon combines exploration, puzzles, metroidvania-style access and crafting. It supports solo play and online co-op. Raw Fury announced the game for release on October 13, 2026, on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud and PC through Steam.
What Deep Dish Dungeon asks you to do
Deep Dish Dungeon is built around preparation rather than a single uninterrupted push to the bottom. You explore corridors, rooms and passageways, investigate unusual spaces, gather materials, return to camp and use what you found to improve the next attempt. The official Steam description calls it a survival exploration game that rewards curiosity and resourcefulness.

That description explains the most important beginner principle: progress comes from making better decisions between expeditions, not from forcing one run past its sensible limit. A short trip that returns with materials for a tool or meal can be more valuable than a reckless trip that ends with you underprepared in an unfamiliar area.

The dungeon is hand-crafted, so exploration includes more than fighting. Doors, puzzles, side passages and blocked routes may matter later when you have the right tool or enough knowledge to interpret what you are seeing. Treat unexplored space as information to collect, not merely distance to cover.
Release and platforms
Raw Fury announced an October 13, 2026 launch for Xbox Game Pass, Xbox on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud and PC via Steam. Availability, save behavior and feature support can differ by platform, so check the store page for the edition you are using before assuming that a particular service includes the game or a specific online feature.
The first-expedition loop
Use the following sequence as your default rhythm. It keeps the campsite, resources, tools and meals connected instead of treating them as separate systems.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Start at camp. Look at the tools and food you already have. Decide what kind of route you can realistically attempt and identify the point at which you will turn back.
- Choose a purpose. A run might be for gathering materials, checking a suspicious door, learning an enemy, or reaching a known obstacle. A clear purpose prevents you from spending supplies on every distraction.
- Explore deliberately. Search rooms, corridors, passageways, shadows and optional branches. Investigate puzzles and doors rather than sprinting through the obvious path.
- Collect useful resources. Pick up materials that can support campsite improvements, tools or meals. Keep track of where you found them so the next trip can be more focused.
- Read the situation. If you are low on food, carrying a useful haul, injured or facing an obstacle you cannot yet solve, mark the location mentally and return instead of gambling the run.
- Go back to camp. The return is part of the intended loop. Banking resources turns a successful exploration trip into permanent preparation for the next descent.
- Craft for the next route. Make the tool that answers the obstacle or puzzle you plan to tackle, rather than crafting at random.
- Cook before a deeper push. Select a recipe whose stat effect matches the journey ahead, then leave with a meal and a specific objective.
Repeating this loop gradually converts an unfamiliar dungeon into a map of known routes, solved problems and prepared opportunities.
What to check before leaving camp
A one-minute camp check prevents many failed runs. Use this checklist whenever you return.
- Route: Which corridor, room or door are you targeting? Do you know where you will turn around?
- Tools: Do you have the item needed for the next obstacle, or are you intentionally scouting it for a later expedition?
- Food: Have you cooked a meal, and does its effect match the route? Do not consume a valuable dish merely because it is available.
- Materials: Are you carrying enough resources to make the planned tool or campsite improvement when you return?
- Knowledge: What enemy behavior, puzzle clue or environmental detail did you learn last time?
- Exit plan: If the route branches, which branch is the priority and which one can wait?
The game does not publish a universal starter loadout or an official order for every tool. Your checklist should therefore be based on the next obstacle you understand, not on a supposed optimal build.
How to explore and scavenge without wasting a run
Search the edges of the obvious route
Curiosity is a stated part of the game’s design. Check side rooms, dead ends, shadows, unusual corners and passageways that appear to lead nowhere. A detour can reveal resources, a puzzle clue or a future shortcut. You do not need to clear every branch immediately; you do need to notice what exists and decide whether it is worth the current risk.
Separate discovery from commitment
Seeing a door does not mean you must open it on the same run. Inspect it, note what seems to block it and continue only if you have the required preparation. Returning later with the appropriate tool is usually better than exhausting food and health while trying to improvise.
Use a resource-first mindset
When several paths are available, favor the one that improves your next expedition: a route with accessible materials, a safe way to learn an enemy or a clue that explains a puzzle. The aim is not to collect everything in one trip. The aim is to return with something that changes what you can do at camp.

Pause after every meaningful discovery
After finding a new resource, puzzle element or enemy, stop long enough to decide whether the information changes your plan. This small pause reduces accidental overextension and helps you remember why you entered the area.
When to return to camp
Returning is the correct decision whenever the expected value of one more room is lower than the value of securing what you already found. Use these signals:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- You have collected a resource needed for a tool, recipe or campsite improvement.
- Your planned meal is no longer sufficient for the distance or danger ahead.
- You are about to enter an area with an unfamiliar enemy or puzzle and have no clear recovery plan.
- You have reached a locked or blocked route that you cannot currently solve.
- You are retracing a route without learning anything new.
- You can no longer identify a safe path back.
Do not interpret a retreat as lost progress. The official loop expects repeated journeys between camp and dungeon. A banked haul gives you options; an unbanked haul carried past your limit can turn a productive expedition into a rescue attempt.
A simple return rule
Before entering a new branch, ask: “If this next room contains nothing useful, can I still get back safely?” If the answer is no, return now. If the answer is yes, continue only when the room serves your current purpose rather than curiosity alone.
Crafting tools for the route ahead
Crafting is most efficient when it answers a known problem. The official description confirms that gathered resources are used to craft tools, but it does not establish a universal tool sequence. Your first tool should therefore be chosen from the obstacle you intend to address.
Match tool to obstacle
- Identify the door, puzzle or environmental barrier you want to reach.
- Read the in-game description or interaction prompt carefully for clues about the required capability.
- Check the materials needed at camp.
- Gather only what is missing, then return and craft.
- Take the tool on a targeted expedition instead of carrying it through unrelated areas.
This approach avoids spending scarce materials on an item that does not change your immediate options. It also makes each run easier to evaluate: you know exactly which newly accessible route justifies the trip.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDo not craft only because you can
An available recipe is not automatically the best use of resources. Compare the tool’s immediate value with a meal or campsite improvement. If the tool opens a route containing essential materials or a major clue, it may deserve priority. If it opens an optional branch while your food supply is poor, cooking first can produce a safer expedition.
How cooking works
Deep Dish Dungeon lets you forage and scavenge in the dungeon, bring resources back to camp, cook meals and unlock recipes with different stat effects over time. The reliable system-level facts are more useful than an invented recipe chart: food bolsters strength, and each recipe can alter the way you approach the next journey.
Find ingredients by exploring
Ingredients come from the same deliberate scavenging loop as crafting materials. Search rooms, side passages and less obvious spaces instead of relying only on the main corridor. Because no authoritative floor-by-floor ingredient map is published, use your own route notes: record where a useful ingredient appeared and whether the path was safe enough to repeat.

Bring ingredients back before cooking
Cooking belongs at camp. Gather what you can carry safely, return, and use the campsite to convert those resources into a meal. If you are unsure whether a material is needed for a tool, keep it until you have checked the relevant crafting and cooking menus; do not assume that every scavenged item has only one purpose.
Compare meals on three axes
| Decision axis | Question to ask | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Stat effect | What does the recipe improve according to its current in-game description? | The effect should support the main risk of the next route. |
| Ingredient cost | How difficult is it to replace the ingredients? | A costly meal may be better saved for a high-value expedition. |
| Route fit | Is the next trip combat-heavy, traversal-heavy or focused on puzzles? | The best meal is the one that supports the task, not necessarily the one with the largest-looking number. |
A recovery-oriented dish can make sense for a combat-heavy push, while a stamina-oriented dish can be more useful for traversal or puzzle work. Those are planning examples, not names or guaranteed effects for a particular recipe. Trust the current text shown in your game.
What should you cook first?
There is no authoritative starter recipe, ingredient quantity, stamina threshold or spoilage table published for the game. The safest answer is to cook the earliest recipe whose effect directly supports your first clear objective and whose ingredients you can replace without delaying a critical tool.
If your first route is combat-heavy
Choose the available meal that improves the stat most relevant to surviving encounters, provided the recipe does not consume materials needed for your next tool. Enter with a plan to study enemy behavior rather than to trade damage blindly.
If your first route is exploration-heavy
Favor the meal whose description supports endurance or movement for the trip. Use it when you expect to inspect several branches, revisit a passage or reach a distant room before returning.
If your first route is puzzle-heavy
Pick the recipe that leaves you best equipped to spend time investigating and retrying interactions. Keep enough materials in reserve to craft the tool that addresses the puzzle if the camp menu indicates one is required.
If you have only one meal option
Cook it when the next expedition has a clear purpose and you can safely return. The point of the first meal is to learn how the effect changes your run; do not delay indefinitely while waiting for an unconfirmed ideal recipe.
Surviving enemies and puzzles
Learn behavior before committing
Raw Fury’s launch description emphasizes learning diverse enemy behaviors. Treat the first encounter with a new enemy as an observation phase. Watch its movement, timing and response to your position, then choose whether to engage, reposition or retreat. Repeated blind attacks spend resources without producing reliable knowledge.
Use the environment as information
Hand-crafted rooms often communicate their purpose through layout, unusual objects, blocked paths or repeated visual clues. Examine the space before interacting. If a puzzle does not make sense, leave a marker in your mental route plan and return after discovering a tool, clue or alternate approach.

Persist without repeating the same mistake
Persistence means changing one variable between attempts: approach from another side, bring a different tool, cook a different stat-supporting meal or observe the enemy for longer. Repeating an identical failed attack is not a strategy; a short retreat that adds information is.
Turning returns into campsite progress
Every return should answer one question: what is now possible that was not possible before? The answer may be a crafted tool, a newly unlocked recipe, a stronger meal, a better understanding of an enemy or a safer route through a familiar section.
- Bank resources first. Secure the materials that justify the expedition before spending them elsewhere.
- Review newly available recipes. Note their stat effects and ingredient requirements.
- Improve the campsite when the upgrade changes your choices. A campsite improvement that supports tools or meals can be more valuable than a minor convenience when you are still opening the dungeon.
- Prepare one objective. Leave camp with a route and a reason, not a vague intention to “go farther.”
The campsite is mission control: it is where exploration becomes progression. Skipping the camp phase leaves resources unused and makes the next run harder than it needs to be.
A practical plan for your first three expeditions
Expedition one: map the safe opening
Explore the starting area slowly. Inspect side paths, gather accessible resources and learn how the first enemy or environmental hazard behaves. Do not force a blocked door. Return once you have enough material to make a meaningful camp decision or once the route stops yielding new information.
Expedition two: convert the haul into capability
At camp, compare the obstacle you noticed with the available tools and recipes. Craft the item that answers that obstacle if you have the materials. Cook a meal whose effect matches the route you intend to test. Then revisit the known area and attempt one newly prepared objective.
Expedition three: push through one new threshold
Use the prepared tool and meal to cross a specific door, puzzle or dangerous section. Continue only while you are learning or collecting resources that support the next upgrade. Return with the new materials and information rather than extending the trip simply because the route is open.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Solo and online co-op advice
Deep Dish Dungeon supports solo play and online co-op, with the official launch description stating that players can explore alone or with up to two friends. The same expedition loop applies in either mode, but coordination becomes part of preparation when playing together.
For solo players
Keep your goals narrow and make conservative return decisions because every observation, fight and puzzle attempt depends on your own supplies and attention. Record mental landmarks so that a retreat does not erase what you learned.

- 【Reduce Safety Risks】Cable tray under desk keeps all plugs away from your kids, no more worry about tripping. Using 2 holes wire tray saves extra space, helps you easily cabling and wire protection. The mesh design is not easy to accumulate dust, but avoids safety accidents caused by messy wires.
Do not assume that adding players removes preparation requirements. Co-op can make exploration more flexible, but the group still needs tools, food and a clear extraction point.
Common beginner problems and fixes
“I keep running out of food before I return.”
You are extending routes past their planned limit. Shorten the objective, mark the next unexplored branch and return while you still have a safe path. At camp, cook for the route you can actually complete rather than for an imagined deep push.
“I have ingredients but cannot make the tool I need.”
Check whether the material serves a different recipe or whether the obstacle requires another capability. Gather missing resources deliberately and revisit the camp menus before leaving again. The game does not provide a universal tool order, so the correct next item depends on the barrier in front of you.
“I am fighting every enemy and making no progress.”
Stop treating encounters as mandatory races. Observe the enemy’s behavior, decide whether the room contributes to your objective and retreat if the fight consumes more resources than the route is worth.
“I found a door but do not know what to do.”
Inspect the surroundings for clues, note the door’s location and search nearby branches for a tool or information. Returning later with preparation is part of the metroidvania-style progression, not a failure to solve the game immediately.
“I do not know which meal is best.”
Read the current recipe description and compare stat effect, ingredient cost and route fit. Pick the meal that supports the next clearly defined task. Avoid relying on an external starter-recipe list because authoritative quantities and effects may change with the game’s version and are not established here.
What is known—and what is not—about recipes and ingredients
The confirmed systems are straightforward: dungeon scavenging supplies resources; resources return to camp; camp supports crafting and cooking; meals bolster strength; and recipes can affect stats. The available official descriptions do not publish a complete ingredient catalog, exact quantities, spoilage rules, stamina thresholds, named starter dish or floor-by-floor route.
Recommended Free Tools
That means a reliable beginner guide should teach decisions rather than invent a spreadsheet. Use the recipe text in your current build as the authority, keep notes on where you found materials and update your plan when a recipe or tool changes what the dungeon allows you to do.
Quick reference checklist
- Leave camp with one route objective.
- Inspect optional paths, rooms, shadows, puzzles and doors.
- Gather resources that support a known tool, meal or campsite improvement.
- Study new enemy behavior before committing to a fight.
- Turn back while the route home is still safe.
- Bank materials at camp before making the next decision.
- Craft for the obstacle you intend to tackle.
- Cook according to stat effect, ingredient cost and route fit.
- In co-op, agree on the objective and retreat point before departing.
Follow that rhythm and your first runs become controlled experiments: each descent reveals something, each return converts it into preparation, and each meal supports a deliberate next step.
