Deck of Haunts has modest published PC requirements and is marked Steam Deck Verified. The minimum target is Windows 10, a 2.3 GHz processor, 8 GB of RAM, 3 GB of VRAM and 2 GB of available storage. Steam also lists full controller support, but it does not publish a guaranteed frame rate, battery-life estimate or graphics preset for individual Steam Deck models.
Deck of Haunts system requirements at a glance
The figures below are the developer and publisher’s published minimum PC requirements on Steam. They are a baseline for launching the game, not a recommended configuration or a promise of a particular visual quality or frame rate.
| Requirement | Published minimum | What the figure tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 | The listed minimum desktop operating system. |
| Processor | 2.3 GHz | A CPU with a minimum clock specification of 2.3 GHz. |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | System memory required by the published minimum target. |
| Graphics | 3 GB VRAM | Dedicated graphics memory requirement shown on the store listing. |
| Storage | 2 GB available space | Free disk space required for the game installation itself. |
These requirements describe a Windows PC configuration. They do not translate into a required Steam Deck model, because Steam Deck compatibility is assessed through the handheld’s own software and hardware environment rather than by matching a Windows graphics-card specification line for line.

Can Deck of Haunts run on Steam Deck?
Yes. Steam marks Deck of Haunts as Verified, the strongest compatibility label displayed for Steam Deck titles. The listing also reports full controller support. In practical terms, the storefront has completed its compatibility checks for the handheld and considers the game suitable for Steam Deck use without requiring you to treat it as an experimental, unsupported installation.

Verified is a compatibility verdict, not a performance benchmark. Steam’s listing does not provide model-by-model frames per second, battery-life measurements, recommended graphics presets or a guarantee that LCD and OLED hardware will deliver identical results. If your buying decision depends on a specific FPS target or a fixed battery runtime, those figures are not established by the published information.
What kind of game is Deck of Haunts?
Deck of Haunts is a single-player indie simulation and strategy game developed by Mantis, with DANGEN Entertainment and Game Source Entertainment listed as publishers. It released on Steam on May 7, 2025; SteamDB records the release event at 13:00:14 UTC on that date.
You play a malevolent haunted house rather than an investigator trying to escape one. The core loop combines mansion construction with card-driven manipulation of visitors’ fears. You use haunt cards and special rooms to push visitors toward insanity, extract their essence and spend that essence to unlock additional rooms and expand the house’s powers.

That design matters for hardware expectations. The game is presented as a management and strategy experience, not as a graphics showcase whose published requirements imply a high-end gaming PC. The minimum specification is therefore useful for checking whether an older Windows computer is in range, while the Verified label is the more relevant signal for a Steam Deck buyer.

Steam Deck features documented on the store page
Controls
- Full controller support is listed for Steam Deck play.
- Xbox and PlayStation controllers are also listed as supported controller types.
- A mouse-only option is available, which can help players who prefer pointer-driven interaction or are playing on a desktop.
Accessibility and comfort options
Steam documents several options that affect how the game feels to play:
- Adjustable difficulty.
- Adjustable text size.
- Subtitle options.
- Camera-comfort settings.
- Custom volume controls.
- The ability to play without quick-time events.
These are listed capabilities, not a promise that every option applies identically to every input method. Check the in-game settings after launching if you need a particular text, subtitle, camera or timing configuration.
Other Steam features
- Single-player play.
- Steam Cloud support for synchronizing saves through Steam.
- Steam Workshop support.
- A level editor.
Workshop and level-editor support can add user-created content, while Steam Cloud is useful when moving a save between a Deck and a Windows PC. Cloud synchronization is a Steam feature; it does not mean that every locally created file or editor asset is necessarily synchronized in the same way as a standard save.
Installing and checking the game on a Steam Deck
- Open the Steam Deck’s Library and select Deck of Haunts.
- On the game page, choose Install and select the internal drive or a compatible microSD card with at least the published 2 GB of free space, plus room for Steam’s temporary installation data and future updates.
- After installation, return to the game page and confirm that the store’s compatibility indicator shows Verified.
- Launch the game with the built-in controls first. This establishes whether the default controller mapping suits you before you add an external controller or a custom layout.
- Open the game’s settings and set text size, subtitles, camera comfort, volume and difficulty to your preference. Disable quick-time events if you want the documented no-QTE option.
- If you use the level editor or Workshop, allow each item to finish downloading before launching a session that depends on it.
The 2 GB figure is the published minimum available space, not a recommendation to leave exactly 2 GB free. SteamOS, shader data, updates and other installed games also need storage. Keeping additional free space reduces the chance that an update will fail even when the original installation fits.

What performance should you expect on Steam Deck?
The responsible answer is that the available Steam information does not establish a numerical performance target. There is no published FPS figure, frame-time test, battery-life result or model-specific graphics profile to quote for Deck of Haunts.
The Verified badge supports a compatibility conclusion: the game has passed Steam’s checks for Deck use and has full controller support listed. It does not support a stronger conclusion such as “runs at 60 FPS on every Deck” or “lasts a particular number of hours on a charge.” Performance can vary with the game version, SteamOS version, display settings, background downloads, Workshop content and the specific Deck model.
How to evaluate your own result
- Start with the game’s default settings rather than changing several options at once.
- Play a representative session that includes mansion management, visitor activity and any custom content you intend to use.
- Observe responsiveness, text readability, fan noise and battery drain together; a short menu test cannot represent a full session.
- Change one setting at a time if you need a smoother or quieter experience, then retest the same scenario.
This approach gives you a useful personal baseline without presenting an unverified number as a universal result.

| Decision point | Windows PC | Steam Deck |
|---|---|---|
| Compatibility signal | Check whether the computer meets the listed minimums. | Steam storefront status: Verified. |
| Operating-system information | Windows 10 is the published minimum. | The Deck listing supplies a Verified status rather than a Windows requirement. |
| Memory requirement | 8 GB RAM minimum. | No separate Deck RAM requirement is published on the listing. |
| Graphics requirement | 3 GB VRAM minimum. | No model-specific graphics-memory target is published for Deck. |
| Storage | 2 GB available space minimum. | The same game installation still needs the published 2 GB, with additional room advisable for SteamOS data and updates. |
| Input | Mouse-only play is listed; Xbox and PlayStation controllers are supported. | Full controller support is listed for the handheld. |
| FPS and battery data | No FPS or battery figure is supplied by the cited store information. | No model-specific FPS or battery figure is supplied by the cited store information. |
A Windows buyer can compare the CPU, RAM, VRAM and storage lines directly against a computer’s specifications. A Deck buyer has a simpler first check: the game is Verified. Neither platform has a published performance guarantee in the available listing.

Confirm the operating system
Use Windows’ system information page to verify that the PC is running Windows 10 or a later compatible Windows version. The published requirement names Windows 10 specifically; it does not state a separate edition, service-pack level or recommended operating system.
Check the processor
Compare the processor’s advertised clock specification with the 2.3 GHz minimum. Clock speed alone does not describe every aspect of CPU performance, so treat this as a threshold check rather than a prediction of frame rate.

System RAM and graphics VRAM are different specifications. The listing calls for 8 GB of RAM and 3 GB of VRAM. Confirm both in the operating system or graphics-driver information; do not assume that a PC with 8 GB of system memory automatically has 3 GB of graphics memory.
Best Value
- Valve is entering the gaming console marketplace with the new Steam Deck, a console geared towards PC gamers. The Steam Deck can be docked to a monitor, and used as a PC, or docked to a TV.
- Players can play a huge variety of games at any time with the comfort of a console and the freedom of a PC. Not anti-glare screen.
- Like the name suggests, the Steam Deck will include upgraded 1TB storage, and will include a carrying case. A micro SD slot will also enable expanded storage.
- Valve partnered with AMD to create a specialized APU optimized for handheld gaming, and Valve says the chip will deliver performance to run AAA gaming titles.
- The Steam Deck is outfitted with a 7-inch touchscreen, and two trackpads under the control sticks that allow gamers to operate games never designed outside of mouse and keyboard capabilities.
Check free storage before installing
Make sure the selected drive has at least 2 GB available. Leave additional capacity for Steam’s download process, updates and other files rather than filling the drive to its limit.
Troubleshooting when a Verified game does not behave as expected
The game will not launch on Deck
- Restart the Deck and try launching again.
- Install pending SteamOS and game updates.
- Check that the installation completed and that the selected drive still has free space.
- Use Steam’s local-file verification option for the game if the installation may be damaged.
- If the problem persists, check the developer’s Steam Community announcements for update notes and bug-report guidance.
Controls do not feel right
- Confirm that the game is using the default controller layout before importing a custom layout.
- Try the listed mouse-only option if pointer input is more comfortable for your play style.
- For an external pad, verify that it is recognized by Steam and that its Xbox or PlayStation profile is active.
Storage or Workshop problems
- Free additional space beyond the 2 GB installation minimum.
- Check that Workshop downloads have finished before loading a level that depends on them.
- If a custom level causes an error, test the base game without that item to isolate user-created content from the core installation.
A bug or crash remains
Steam’s Community announcements page contains developer announcements, update notes and instructions for reporting bugs or crashes. Include the Deck model, SteamOS version, game version, what you were doing when the problem occurred and whether custom Workshop content was enabled. Those details make a report more actionable without assuming that every issue is a hardware shortfall.
Release and support context
Deck of Haunts launched on Steam on May 7, 2025. Mantis is credited as developer, while DANGEN Entertainment and Game Source Entertainment are credited as publishers. The Steam Community announcements page continues to provide developer updates, patch information and support guidance, so it is the appropriate place to check for changes after installation.
Who should choose the Steam Deck version?
The Deck version is a sensible choice if you want portable, controller-first access to a single-player strategy game and value a storefront compatibility verdict over a detailed benchmark. Full controller support, Steam Cloud, adjustable text and difficulty, camera-comfort options and the no-quick-time-event setting address common handheld and accessibility concerns.
A Windows PC is the more transparent choice when you need to verify a specific CPU, RAM, VRAM or storage configuration before purchase. It is also the platform for which the published minimum numbers are written. Choose based on the information you actually need: Deck gives you a Verified compatibility signal, while PC gives you explicit minimum component targets.
