Choose Death Dealer if your group wants an online PC horror game that turns a card-and-chip gamble into an action hunt. Choose The Resistance/Avalon, Werewolf, Blood on the Clocktower, or Two Rooms and a Boom if you want face-to-face bluffing, hidden information, missions, votes, or roleplay instead. Death Dealer is not presented as a conventional hidden-role deduction game: one player becomes prey after the opening contest, while the others hunt them through a bunker.

That difference determines the right pick more than the horror theme. The key questions are whether you want a digital or tabletop experience, whether a moderator should run the session, whether eliminated players should keep participating, and how many people are playing.

What Death Dealer is

Death Dealer’s Steam listing describes a multiplayer horror party video game from Psychotronic for up to six players. Its tags include online co-op, multiplayer, horror, party game, card game, and PvP. The game combines a competitive opening with a physical pursuit phase rather than relying on a hidden-traitor discussion round.

The documented game loop

  1. Play the opening card game. Players compete to earn chips.
  2. Use the slot machine. The chips feed a slot-machine system that modifies the round.
  3. Assign the hunted player. The loser becomes the prey.
  4. Equip the hunters. The other players buy weapons.
  5. Run the bunker hunt. The hunters pursue the loser through a bunker while the prey tries to survive.

The listing does not describe a traditional day-and-night discussion structure, secret faction voting, or a moderator who narrates hidden roles. It also does not fully specify what happens after the hunt, so do not assume that a round follows the same elimination pattern as Werewolf or Mafia.

Why it is different from social deduction

Social-deduction games usually ask players to infer identities or teams from conversation, claims, voting, and inconsistent information. Death Dealer’s conflict is more direct: the game creates a loser through its card-and-chip contest, then changes that player’s role to hunted target. Suspicion and betrayal can still matter around the table or in voice chat, but the cited description frames the central payoff as action, pursuit, and survival.

That makes Death Dealer a better match for friends who want a shared digital event with movement and weapons than for a group seeking a pure logic puzzle. It is also easier to explain to players who prefer an immediate objective—win the opening, then survive or catch the target—over a rules-heavy identity discussion.

Death Dealer’s current release status

As checked on October 13, 2026, Steam showed a playable demo and a planned full release on November 4, 2026. The date was still in the future at that check, so verify the current Steam page before scheduling a group session. The listing says the game is planned for Early Access rather than presenting the November date as a completed launch.

The developer disclosure expects roughly 18 months in Early Access, while warning that the estimate may change. Planned work includes additional level content, weapons, character cosmetics, gameplay variations, balance changes, and polish. These are development intentions, not guarantees about the finished feature set.

“We are a two person team building Death Dealer, and Early Access lets us shape the game with players from the start.”

The same Steam disclosure says, “The core loop is already playable, and we want to refine and improve the experience based on real player feedback.” Both statements are attributed to the Death Dealer development team; Steam does not identify an individual speaker or job title.

The listing also states, “No real money involved,” and calls the product a video game rather than a real casino. Chips and slot-machine effects are in-game systems with fictional consequences, not a real-money gambling service.

Death Dealer compared with the main alternatives

The table below separates format, facilitation, elimination, and group size—the factors that most change the experience.

Game Format and group size Moderator Elimination Best fit
Death Dealer Online PC horror party game; up to 6 players No separate moderator described The opening loser becomes hunted; further elimination rules are not fully specified in the Steam excerpt Friends who want chaotic digital action, proximity chat, and a shifting predator/prey round
The Resistance / Avalon Boxed tabletop game; 5–10 players None Players remain in the game Groups wanting mission-based deduction without a moderator
Werewolf / Mafia Traditional party game; usually 8 or more players Moderator who does not play Players are voted out Large groups comfortable with narration and possible early downtime
Blood on the Clocktower In-person social game; 5–20 players plus one Storyteller Storyteller Dead players remain involved, with limits Experienced groups seeking individual roles and a facilitator
Two Rooms and a Boom Cards and two rooms; 6–30 players None No elimination Very large groups with space to split into two rooms
Coup Tabletop bluffing game; 2–6 players; about 15 minutes None Elimination Small groups wanting a short, bluff-heavy tabletop game

The player counts and characteristics for the tabletop games come from the independent social-deduction comparison guide, updated September 26, 2026. They are game specifications and broad group ranges, not market-size or popularity statistics.

Which game fits your group?

Pick Death Dealer for online horror action

Death Dealer is the strongest choice when everyone can play on Windows PCs and wants a game rather than a moderator-led activity. Up to six people can share the same round, moving from a competitive card contest to a bunker pursuit. The loser’s change from contestant to hunted player creates a clear role reversal without asking one person to sit outside the game and run it.

It suits a group that enjoys pressure, pursuit, and the possibility that a friendly contest suddenly becomes adversarial. It is less suitable if the group’s favorite part of social deduction is extended debate over who belongs to which secret team.

Pick The Resistance/Avalon for moderator-free deduction

The Resistance/Avalon is the most direct tabletop alternative for groups that want hidden information and team decisions without assigning a non-playing host. The guide lists five to ten players and says players remain in the game. That combination avoids two common problems: finding someone willing to moderate and leaving voted-out friends waiting on the sidelines.

Choose it when the group wants missions, persuasion, and accusations around a table, but does not need a digital environment or an action chase. It is also the cleanest option for a mixed-experience group that wants a structured social-deduction format without a Storyteller.

Pick Werewolf/Mafia for a classic large-group format

Werewolf or Mafia is the familiar moderator-led choice for a large gathering. The comparison guide describes these games as usually supporting eight or more players, with a moderator who does not play and players voted out during the session.

This format works when one person enjoys narrating phases, enforcing secret actions, and keeping discussion moving. It is a poor fit for people who dislike early downtime: once a player is voted out, they no longer participate as an active player according to the guide’s characterization. Establish expectations before starting, especially when some guests have never played a game with elimination.

Pick Blood on the Clocktower for facilitated depth

Blood on the Clocktower’s official page identifies a five-to-20-player game plus a Storyteller. Its design is aimed at groups that want individual roles, a dedicated facilitator, and continued involvement after death. The guide says dead players remain involved, subject to limits, so elimination does not remove a participant from the entire session in the way it can in Werewolf.

This is the better direction when your group has someone willing to learn and run the Storyteller role, and when players enjoy a longer, more managed social experience. It is not the simplest substitute for a six-person online action game: it needs an in-person setup and a facilitator.

Pick Two Rooms and a Boom for a very large crowd

Two Rooms and a Boom uses cards and two separate rooms, supports six to 30 players according to the guide, and does not require a moderator or eliminate players. Its structure is valuable when a single table cannot comfortably hold everyone. The room split is a feature, not a workaround, so you need a venue that allows participants to move between two spaces under the game’s timing.

Choose it for a large party where circulation, negotiation, and group movement are more important than a single shared screen or a bunker chase.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Pick Coup for a short small-group bluffing game

Coup is listed as a two-to-six-player tabletop game lasting roughly 15 minutes, with elimination. It is useful when the group is small and wants repeated, bluff-focused rounds rather than a horror setting or a long facilitated session. The trade-off is that a player can be knocked out, so it does not solve the downtime concern that rules out eliminative games for some groups.

Use these questions before choosing

Do you want a screen or a table?

  • Screen: Death Dealer is the only option in this comparison described as an online PC video game.
  • Table: The Resistance/Avalon, Werewolf/Mafia, Blood on the Clocktower, Two Rooms and a Boom, and Coup are physical or in-person formats in the cited descriptions.

Can someone moderate?

  • Death Dealer does not describe a separate moderator.
  • The Resistance/Avalon and Two Rooms and a Boom are presented as moderator-free.
  • Werewolf/Mafia requires a moderator who does not play.
  • Blood on the Clocktower requires a Storyteller.

Is elimination acceptable?

  • Death Dealer makes the opening loser hunted, but the available listing excerpt does not establish a complete elimination system.
  • The Resistance/Avalon and Two Rooms and a Boom keep players in the game according to the guide.
  • Werewolf/Mafia and Coup are characterized as eliminative.
  • Blood on the Clocktower keeps dead players involved, with limits.

How many people are attending?

For up to six friends on PCs, Death Dealer or Coup can fit the stated player range, but they deliver radically different experiences. For five to ten people seeking tabletop deduction without a host, The Resistance/Avalon is the clearest match. Groups of eight or more can use Werewolf/Mafia if a moderator is available. Blood on the Clocktower covers five to 20 players plus a Storyteller, while Two Rooms and a Boom stretches from six to 30 and needs two rooms.

Session length and pacing

The comparison guide gives broad duration ranges rather than a fixed schedule for every title: a one-night game can take about ten minutes, while Blood on the Clocktower can take up to two hours. Those figures describe the guide’s categories and should not be applied to Death Dealer. The Steam listing cited here does not give a match-duration estimate for Death Dealer.

For planning, treat Death Dealer’s timing as something to confirm from the current build or demo rather than promising a particular number of minutes. Treat the tabletop ranges as practical orientation, not guarantees: player count, teaching time, discussion, and rematches can change the evening’s length.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Death Dealer PC requirements and setup checks

Steam lists Psychotronic as both developer and publisher. The minimum operating-system requirement shown is Windows 10 64-bit or newer. The recommended graphics hardware is an Nvidia GTX 1060 with 6 GB of memory or an AMD RX 580 with 4 GB.

  • Check that every participant has a Windows 10 64-bit-or-newer PC.
  • Compare each machine with the current Steam listing, especially the graphics requirement.
  • Install the demo or full build that is available in your region and edition before inviting the whole group.
  • Confirm the current release and Early Access status on Steam immediately before the session, because the listed date and specifications may change.

The page also includes a Steam Community hub where developer updates include the October 7 demo announcement and discussion of the card-to-hunt loop. Use the current listing and updates for operational details rather than assuming that an Early Access plan is already implemented.

How to make the final decision

  1. Start with format. If anyone cannot play on a Windows PC, choose one of the tabletop options.
  2. Set the player count. Match the group to the published ranges instead of forcing a six-player video game into a large party.
  3. Choose the social structure. Select moderator-free play for The Resistance/Avalon or Two Rooms and a Boom; select a facilitator-led experience for Werewolf/Mafia or Blood on the Clocktower.
  4. Agree on downtime. Avoid Werewolf/Mafia or Coup if your group does not want players removed from active play. Consider The Resistance/Avalon, Two Rooms and a Boom, or Blood on the Clocktower when continued involvement matters.
  5. Decide whether action or deduction is the priority. Death Dealer emphasizes a card contest, weapons, and a bunker hunt. The tabletop alternatives emphasize missions, votes, roles, bluffing, or room-based negotiation.
  6. Check the current product status. Death Dealer’s November 4, 2026 date was still planned on October 13, 2026, and its Early Access roadmap may change.

Verdict: which should you play?

Play Death Dealer when your six-or-fewer friends want a digital horror party game with a card-and-slot-machine opener, in-game chips, weapons, and a predator-versus-prey bunker round. It is a distinctive alternative to social deduction, not a replacement for a hidden-role classic.

Play The Resistance/Avalon for moderator-free tabletop deduction, Werewolf/Mafia for a narrated large-group classic, Blood on the Clocktower for a Storyteller-led game where dead players still matter, Two Rooms and a Boom for a six-to-30-person two-room event, or Coup for a short, small-group bluffing session. Your group’s preferred format, facilitator availability, tolerance for elimination, and player count are more reliable decision criteria than the shared “party game” label.
