If your DayZ server is missing from the browser, first determine whether every server is absent or only yours. An empty list can be caused by Wednesday maintenance or a client filter; one missing server usually points to its query-port, firewall, NAT, or indexing setup. A successful direct-IP connection proves the game process is running, but it does not prove that browser queries can reach or index the server.
Start with the symptom, not the server files
Do not edit serverDZ.cfg or rebuild port forwarding until you know which failure you have. The fastest diagnosis comes from three observations: whether other servers appear, whether direct IP connection works, and whether you are checking the correct platform and tab.

When the entire browser is empty
Confirm that DayZ is showing the correct platform (PC, Xbox, or PlayStation), region, and Official or Community tab. Clear the search box and every restrictive option, then refresh. If no servers appear anywhere, treat the problem as a client or service issue before assuming your server is misconfigured.
When only your server is missing
If other servers load normally, the browser service is working for you. Concentrate on the server’s advertised query port, host firewall, router/NAT forwarding, startup configuration, and the distinction between the official browser and third-party indexing.

Use direct IP as a diagnostic test
Attempt a direct connection using the server’s public address and game port. If it succeeds, the process is accepting game traffic; the remaining fault is likely query publication, browser filtering, indexing, or propagation. If it fails, investigate the process, game port, firewall, NAT, and server logs before worrying about listing.
Rule out Wednesday maintenance
Bohemia Interactive’s support FAQ says that when it is Wednesday, an empty server list is most likely related to scheduled maintenance at 08:00 (GMT +1). This is a recurring maintenance schedule, not a guarantee that every browser outage occurs at that time. If the whole list disappeared near that window, wait until the service has recovered and test again before changing configuration files.
For a persistent outage outside the maintenance period, record the date, time, platform, region, selected tab, and whether other servers are visible. Bohemia’s FAQ directs players with continuing problems to support; those details let support distinguish a global browser incident from an individual server problem.
Remove client-side filters and refresh the session
Filters can hide a correctly running server. Reset them in the in-game server browser before making network changes.
- Open the DayZ server browser and select the appropriate Official or Community tab. A community-administered server will not appear in the Official list.
- Clear text search, map, player-count, password, first-person/third-person, region, and ping restrictions.
- Open the filter panel and inspect Battleye required. Bohemia’s support guidance specifically says to change this setting from Default to No when looking for servers without BattlEye protection.
- Apply the changes, close the browser, fully exit DayZ and Steam, then launch them again. A complete restart discards stale session and filter state that a simple list refresh may retain.
- Search again with no filters. Note whether any servers appear and whether the missing server is now listed.
For a LAN-hosted server, use the LAN tab and test from another device on the same network. A LAN result does not establish public-Internet reachability, but it confirms that the server is discoverable inside the local network.
Check the dedicated-server configuration
Administrators should stop the server before editing its configuration. Verify that the startup command points to the file you are changing; a perfectly edited file has no effect if the process launches with a different -config path. Also check for missing semicolons, misspelled keys, malformed values, or an error reported during startup.

Set a dedicated Steam query port
The key discoverability setting is steamQueryPort. Bohemia Interactive’s configuration documentation gives this example:
steamQueryPort = 2305;The same documentation comments that this setting “defines Steam query port, should fix the issue with server not being visible in client server browser.” Use a port that is free on the host, forward that exact UDP port, and restart the server after saving the file. The comment describes the intended fix, not a guarantee that every listing problem has the same cause.
Make every instance use unique ports
On a machine running multiple DayZ instances, each instance needs its own game and query ports. A second server that reuses the first server’s query port can start while publishing the wrong endpoint or failing to answer queries. Assign a distinct block to each instance, update the startup -port= value when applicable, and make the router and firewall rules match the same block. Community administrators report mismatched query ports as a cause of invisible servers; that is useful diagnostic evidence, but it is anecdotal rather than an official guarantee.
Confirm the file actually parsed
After restarting, read the server log from the beginning of the launch. Look for configuration parse errors, a bind failure, an address already in use, or a line showing the effective game and query ports. If the process exits immediately, fix that error first. If it remains running but logs a different port than the one you forwarded, correct the startup arguments or the configuration file rather than adding more router rules.
Calculate the port block from the actual base port
The commonly documented block is based on a default game port of 2302. The StarDZ-Team DayZ Modding Wiki lists UDP 2302 for main game traffic, UDP 2303–2304 for Steam networking, and UDP 2305 for the Steam query service. These are default roles, not values that every installation must use.
If the launch command changes -port=, do not forward 2302–2305 automatically. Treat the chosen game port as the start of the instance’s block and determine the corresponding Steam and query values shown by your configuration and startup log. The important requirement is consistency: the server’s effective ports, operating-system rules, router rules, and any external firewall must all describe the same instance. Forwarding the old defaults while the process listens on a shifted block leaves the server running but unreachable or unqueryable.

Do not assume that a successful local connection proves the public mapping is correct. Hairpin NAT can let a device inside the home network reach the private address even when the public address is not forwarded correctly. Always repeat the test from a separate Internet connection.
Open the correct UDP paths through the host and router
Browser visibility requires more than a running process. The query request must reach the host, receive a response, and be published to the browser service. The following values are the documented defaults in the StarDZ-Team DayZ Modding Wiki reference; they are examples, not universal values. Changing -port= shifts the block, so calculate the corresponding ports from your actual base port.

Configure the operating-system firewall
- Create an allow rule for
DayZServer_x64.exe, or create explicit inbound UDP rules for the instance’s game, Steam-networking, and query ports. - Apply the rule to the network profile used by the host. A rule limited to a different profile can appear correct while still blocking traffic.
- Check for a second security product or cloud firewall that may override the operating-system rule.
- Restart the server and verify that the process is listening on the intended local ports. A firewall rule cannot help if another process owns the port or the server bound only to a different interface.
Configure router or NAT forwarding
- Give the server a stable private address, either with a DHCP reservation or a static configuration.
- Forward the required UDP ports from the public interface to that private address. Use the actual base port and query-port values shown in the server configuration, not a copied default.
- Check that no old rule sends the same ports to a previous machine. Duplicate or overlapping rules can produce intermittent results.
- Save the router configuration and restart its firewall service if required by the model.
- Do not place the host in a DMZ as a first-line fix. Explicit rules expose less and make it easier to identify which path is failing.
Testing from inside the same network can be misleading because some routers do not support hairpin NAT. A server may look reachable locally while outside players cannot reach it. Test from a friend’s connection or a phone hotspot after forwarding the ports.
Avoid common false fixes
Reinstalling DayZ, changing the map, or altering gameplay settings does not repair a blocked query path. Those changes can also make it harder to identify the original fault. Keep one known-good configuration, change one variable at a time, and record the result.
Do not add more port-forwarding rules simply because a server is absent. First confirm the effective ports in the launch log and remove stale rules pointing at an old private address. Do not publish administrator passwords, RCON credentials, or other secrets while asking for help; support needs network and log details, not access credentials.
A same-LAN success is not evidence that an Internet player can join. Conversely, a failed LAN test can be caused by local isolation even when the public forwarding is correct. Use both a local test and an external test, and label each result with the network used.

Separate listing, connection, and indexing failures
Direct IP works, official browser does not
This combination means the game service is accepting at least one connection. Concentrate on the query port, UDP forwarding, firewall reachability, browser filters, and the time required for the official service to publish the server. Do not reinstall the game or change gameplay settings before checking those paths.
Direct IP fails as well
Return to the server process and network basics: confirm that the process is running, the startup file is correct, the game port is not already in use, the host firewall allows the traffic, and the router forwards to the current private address. Read the log for bind or startup errors. A listing fix cannot make a server reachable when its game traffic is blocked.
The official browser works, DZSA Launcher does not
The official DayZ browser and DZSA Launcher use different indexing paths. A server can therefore appear in one and not the other. A 2025 Steam Community report describes restoring DZSA visibility after correcting a configured query port. Treat that report as an anecdotal diagnostic lead, not a promise: verify the query value, forwarding, and launcher filters before concluding that the third-party index is at fault.
Use a controlled test matrix
Write down each result instead of changing several variables at once. This matrix keeps the diagnosis focused.

Collect evidence before contacting support
If the browser remains empty after the maintenance and filter checks, contact Bohemia Interactive support as directed by its FAQ. Send information that lets support reproduce the scope without exposing credentials:
- Platform and game version, region, and whether you used Official or Community.
- Approximate UTC time and whether the test occurred during Wednesday’s 08:00 (GMT +1) maintenance schedule.
- Server name, public IP, game port, and query port; never include passwords, administrator tokens, or other secrets.
- The exact filters you used and whether other servers appeared.
- Whether direct-IP connection succeeded, whether a LAN test succeeded, and which external network you used.
- Relevant server-log lines showing startup, effective ports, parse errors, bind failures, or query-related warnings.
For a third-party launcher problem, record whether the official browser lists the server and include the configured query port and the time of the test. This separates a DayZ service issue from an index that has not refreshed.

Prevent the problem on future restarts
- Reserve the server’s private IP address so a router reboot does not send forwarding rules to another device.
- Keep a written map of each instance’s base game port, Steam-networking ports, and
steamQueryPort. - When changing
-port=, recalculate the entire UDP block and update both firewall and NAT rules. - After every configuration change, perform one local test and one external test, then check the official browser.
- Keep a short launch-log excerpt showing the effective ports and successful startup; it speeds up later troubleshooting.
- Use the Community tab for community-hosted servers and do not judge public reachability from a same-LAN test alone.
The practical order is consistent: clear the client filters and check maintenance, verify the server’s effective query setting, align firewall and router rules, test from outside the LAN, and only then investigate browser or third-party indexing. That sequence distinguishes a hidden server from a server that is not reachable at all.

Why is my DayZ server missing when every server is gone?
Check the Wednesday maintenance window at 08:00 (GMT +1), clear all browser filters, restart DayZ and Steam, and test again. If the list remains empty, contact Bohemia Interactive support with your platform, region, tab, and test time.
Why can I connect by IP but not see my server in Community?
Direct-IP success shows that game traffic works, but the Steam query path may not. Verify steamQueryPort, forward the matching UDP port, allow it through the host firewall, and confirm that you are searching the Community tab.
What query port should a DayZ server use?
Bohemia’s configuration example is steamQueryPort = 2305;. Use a free, unique port for the instance and forward the exact value; if -port= changes the base block, update all related rules.
Why does my server appear on LAN but not for friends?
LAN discovery does not prove public reachability. Check the server’s stable private IP, UDP forwarding, host and upstream firewalls, and test from a phone hotspot or another external network.

Why is my server in the official browser but not DZSA Launcher?
