DayZ does not expose a universal numeric item-ID list in the game interface. For server configuration, an item’s “ID” is normally its exact text class name—the value inside a <type name="..."> entry in the types.xml file your server loads. The safest list is therefore one extracted from your own live economy file, then checked against the files and game version used by your server.
What a DayZ item ID actually is
When administrators ask for a DayZ item-ID list, they usually mean class names. A class name is a case-sensitive text string such as the value in this entry:

</type>That string is what the Central Economy uses to identify the type in configuration. It is not a number shown in the inventory, map, or server browser. The spelling, capitalization, and punctuation must match the class defined by the game or a mod.
The class name matters in more than one economy file. An entry in cfgspawnabletypes.xml refers to a type by name so the server can add attachments or cargo when that item spawns. If the name in that file differs from the corresponding name in types.xml, the relationship will not work as intended. Treat the name as an exact key, not as a friendly label.

Where DayZ stores the names
types.xml: the authoritative list for your economy
types.xml contains the per-item economy definitions used by the mission. Each <type name="..."> element supplies one class name, followed by values that control settings such as nominal quantity, lifetime, restock behavior, flags, and usage or location categories. The file that matters is the one registered and loaded by your server, not a random copy downloaded from a forum.
Vanilla servers have a mission folder containing the stock economy files. Modded servers may replace, extend, or register additional files. Before building a list, identify the mission and profile used by the instance you are actually editing; a list extracted from another mission can contain names your server never loads.
cfgspawnabletypes.xml: attachments and cargo
This file defines extras that can appear with a spawned type, including attachments and cargo. Its type entries use the same class-name key as types.xml. You can therefore find a name in types.xml, then search for that exact string in cfgspawnabletypes.xml to see whether the server gives the item a predefined loadout.
Not every type needs a corresponding spawnable-types entry. Existing types can omit attributes that are not being changed, and a spawnable-types file must retain the formatting expected by the original configuration. A missing optional entry is different from a misspelled entry: the former simply leaves extras undefined, while the latter can prevent the intended rule from matching.
cfgeconomycore.xml: registering custom files
Custom economy files are registered through cfgeconomycore.xml. The registration points to a ce folder and a file, and identifies how the file should be interpreted. A value of types tells the Central Economy to parse a types file; spawnabletypes identifies a spawnable-types file. If a custom file is not registered, extracting names from it will not make those names valid on the server—the file must first be loaded by the economy configuration.
The three practical ways to build a class-name list

For production configuration, use the first method as your baseline. Use a lookup site to resolve a display name or investigate a world object, and use community lists only as hints that you verify against the server’s files.

Method A: extract names from the server’s own types.xml
Step 1: make a safe copy and identify the loaded file
- Stop the server or work on a maintenance copy so the file cannot change while you are reading it.
- Locate the mission directory used by that instance and find its
types.xml. If you run a modded economy, inspectcfgeconomycore.xmlfor registeredcefolders and additional files. - Keep an untouched backup. XML mistakes can stop an economy file from loading, and a backup gives you a direct recovery path.
- Check the server’s game and mod versions before comparing the file with any online list. A name that existed in an older build may be removed, renamed, or supplied by a mod you do not have.
Step 2: read the name attributes
Open the file in an editor that can search XML. Search for <type name= and copy only the attribute value, not the surrounding tags. For example, from:

</type>the class name is Example_Item. Do not substitute the display name visible to players, translate it, or remove underscores. A useful working list has one exact class name per line and retains capitalization.
Step 3: batch-extract the list
Community utilities can do this for a large file. TypesClassNameExtractor by xscr33m extracts class names from DayZ SA or modded types.xml and writes a ClassNames.txt file. DayZSA-ClassName-Extractor by TheAlKatraZ is another simple C++ utility: place a copy of the relevant types.xml beside the program and it writes the results to ClassNames.txt. Because these tools read your copy of the file, their output reflects the names in that file rather than a generic Internet roster.
Before using any extractor, scan its output against the source file. Confirm that it did not include a header, duplicate a name, or silently skip malformed XML. Keep the generated text file alongside a note identifying the mission, server build, and extraction date.

If you prefer not to install a community utility, this small Python example reads the file as XML and writes one sorted name per line. It is a local parsing aid, not a substitute for checking which file your server loads:

If your file uses a namespace or an unusual structure, use a tool that understands that format and compare its output with a manual search.

Method B: look up a name from a display name
A lookup service can be faster when you know only what an item is called in the game. Killfeed’s DayZ search accepts either an exact types.xml name or an in-game display name. Its coverage also includes world objects such as buildings and furniture, which are not necessarily present as ordinary item entries in your economy file.
- Enter the player’s display name first if you do not know the class spelling.
- Compare the returned class name character by character with the value you plan to use.
- Check whether the result belongs to vanilla DayZ or a mod. A mod class is usable only when that mod is installed and loaded on your server.
- Search your own
types.xmlfor the returned string. If it is absent, determine whether it belongs in a registered custom file before editing anything. - Spawn-test the result on a test instance; an online lookup is a lead, not proof that your current build accepts the name.
Display names can be ambiguous, localized, or shared by variants. Searching by the exact class name is more reliable once you have extracted your own list.
Method C: use community lists without trusting them blindly
Community class-name lists are convenient when you are starting a project or trying to recognize an unfamiliar entry. Scribd documents and GitHub gists contain vanilla lists, but their age is a material risk. One Scribd document is labelled for DayZ Update 1.25, while one commonly circulated gist is described as roughly eight years old. Neither label establishes that the list matches your current server.
Use an old list as a discovery index only:
- Record the list’s stated game version and publication date.
- Compare every candidate with the stock files in your own mission folder.
- Remove entries supplied by DLC or mods that are not installed.
- Do not assume a missing entry means the item is invalid; it may be in a separate registered file.
- Test any name that will be used in a production economy before making it available to players.
No official, current 2026 roster was identified. The Bohemia Interactive community wiki documentation for central-economy mission files is the closest official-leaning reference described here, but it explains file structure rather than publishing a complete item catalogue. That is why a server-local extraction remains the dependable source.
How to verify a class name before production use
Confirm the version and source
Write down the DayZ server build, the mission name, and the mod set. A class name is meaningful only in the content set that defines it. When a patch or mod update changes the economy, regenerate the list rather than assuming the old text file is still complete.
Compare against stock and registered files
Search the stock mission files and every custom file registered in cfgeconomycore.xml. If the name exists only in an unregistered file, the Central Economy will not see it. If it appears in multiple files, check which definition is intended and whether the registration order creates an override or conflict.

Check both economy and spawnable-type references
For an item that should spawn with a magazine, attachment, or cargo, verify that the parent name in cfgspawnabletypes.xml exactly matches the types.xml name. Compare case, underscores, hyphens, and numerals. A visually similar name is not an acceptable match.
Spawn-test on a separate instance
- Back up the mission files.
- Apply the smallest possible test change to a non-production server.
- Restart the server so the economy reloads the file.
- Use your normal administrator or testing method to request the item.
- Check the server log and the in-game result. Confirm that the object appears, has the expected attachments or cargo, and does not generate an XML or economy error.
- Only then copy the verified change into production, preserving the tested version of the file.
A successful spawn proves that the current server recognizes the class. It does not prove that the item will appear naturally: nominal values, usage flags, location categories, lifetime, and restock settings still determine economy behavior.
Keeping large economy files manageable
Split by function, not by guesswork
DayZ Type Splitter Pro is a community GitHub project intended to split a large types.xml into categories. Splitting can make audits and updates easier, but each resulting file must still be valid XML and correctly registered. A split that produces duplicate roots, broken comments, or unregistered files can be worse than one large file.
Keep mod data separate from core files
Server administrators commonly place mod data in a separate folder such as custom_types and register those files through cfgeconomycore.xml. This is community practice rather than a guarantee that every hosting setup uses the same path. Follow the registration syntax accepted by your server’s economy configuration, and keep a map showing which file owns each class name.
Maintain a simple inventory of files

Common mistakes and fixes
Using a numeric ID from an unrelated tool
Some admin panels or scripts may assign their own numbers, but those numbers are not the DayZ class key described by the economy files. Find the literal text in the name attribute instead.
Copying the display name
Military boots, for example, is a human-facing label; the configuration requires the exact class string. Search for the class in your file or resolve it with a lookup service, then paste the result without editing its spelling.

Relying on an old list after a patch
A list labelled for Update 1.25 or a years-old gist can contain stale, missing, or mod-specific entries. Regenerate from the live file after updates and use dated lists only for comparison.
Editing the wrong mission
Hosts often retain several mission folders for different maps or profiles. Confirm the path named by the running instance and inspect its registration file before changing an XML copy.

Creating custom_types/types.xml does nothing until cfgeconomycore.xml registers it with the appropriate types interpretation. Verify the registration and restart the server.
Breaking XML while adding an item
Unclosed tags, duplicate roots, invalid characters, and malformed comments can stop a file from loading. Validate the XML, compare it with the original formatting, and restore the backup if the server reports a parse failure.
Expecting a valid name to spawn naturally
Recognition and distribution are separate. A valid class can still remain rare or never appear if its economy quantities, flags, usage, or location categories do not permit the desired spawn. Verify the relevant economy settings after the name itself works.
A repeatable workflow for administrators
- Identify the running mission, server version, and installed mods.
- Back up the mission and locate the loaded
types.xml. - Inspect
cfgeconomycore.xmlfor additionalcefiles. - Extract every
<type name="...">value into a datedClassNames.txt. - Use a display-name lookup only when you need to resolve an unknown object.
- Compare community lists with your extracted list; never replace the local list merely because an online list is longer.
- For attachments or cargo, verify the same exact key in
cfgspawnabletypes.xml. - Test new or changed names on a separate server and inspect logs.
- Promote only the tested XML and keep the prior version for rollback.
- Repeat the extraction and verification after a game patch or mod update.
What to use when you need a particular kind of answer
- Need every class currently available to your server: extract your own registered
types.xmlfiles. - Know the display name but not the class: use Killfeed’s search, then confirm the result locally.
- Need a building or furniture object: a lookup service with world-object coverage may be more useful than a types-file extractor.
- Need a historical or vanilla reference: consult a dated community list, but record its version and verify each entry.
- Need to manage hundreds of mod entries: split files carefully, register every file, and maintain a generated list with its source path.
Bottom line for a DayZ item-ID list
For DayZ server work, “item ID” means the exact class-name string, not a universal numeric identifier. The most reliable list is generated from the types.xml and registered custom files your own server loads. Online lookups and community lists are useful for discovery, but they can cover different object types or outdated game versions. Match names exactly in cfgspawnabletypes.xml, verify registrations in cfgeconomycore.xml, and spawn-test every production change on the same game and mod build you run.
