On Chernarus, loot tiers broadly progress from basic coastal gear in Tier 1 to the strongest military loot in north-west Tier 4 zones. That is a useful route-planning rule, not a definitive town-by-town map: community guides disagree about several locations, and the server’s Central Loot Economy settings determine what can actually spawn. Use the zones below as reported examples, then treat your server’s configuration as the authority.
What a Chernarus loot tier tells you
A tier is a loot-eligibility zone, not a promise that a particular building will contain a particular item. In broad community descriptions, Tier 1 covers the coast and basic equipment; Tiers 2 and 3 cover more inland towns and countryside; and Tier 4 marks the northern military areas with the strongest loot. The practical pattern is a move from survival supplies near the coast toward more capable military equipment farther inland and north-west.

The Central Loot Economy (CLE) governs how many instances of an item may exist on a server and where it is eligible to spawn. Item categories and location tags—including Military, Hospital and Village—also matter. A zone tier is therefore only one part of the conditions affecting a spawn. A high-tier location does not guarantee a specific weapon, armor piece or quantity of loot, and a server administrator can change the underlying configuration.
No official Bohemia Interactive definition or authoritative, universal Chernarus zone table is established here. The tier placements below are community-reported examples, not a canonical map. They may reflect a guide’s own adjustments, a particular game version or server setup.

This table gathers the named locations in the available community summaries. It is intentionally not presented as a complete list of every Chernarus zone: the sources disagree, and exact placement is not consistently verified.

The Northmen says it has adjusted its own tier assignments. Its list also places Balota in Tier 1 while Balota is discussed elsewhere as an early military stop. Chernogorsk appears as Tier 2 in one account and as a place where some Tier 3 gear can be found in another. These are reasons to treat the table as a route-planning aid rather than a precise spawn chart.

Where useful loot tends to concentrate
Coastal towns: survival first
Fresh spawns commonly begin in coastal towns such as Chernogorsk, Elektrozavodsk and Berezino. Community summaries identify Chernogorsk as the most reliable coastal option for food and clothing. Solnechny and Svetloyarsk are described as quieter starts with smaller loot pools. Choosing a quieter start can reduce exposure to other players, but the trade-off is fewer opportunities to find supplies in one place.
At this stage, prioritize enough food and water to travel, basic medical supplies and a knife. The aim is to become mobile and self-sufficient before taking on a military site. A tier label should not distract from the immediate problem of surviving the trip to better-equipped areas.
Police stations, hospitals and civilian buildings
A server-file-based loot database identifies police loadouts as concentrated in the Chernogorsk and Elektrozavodsk police stations. It identifies medical supplies at hospitals in Cherno, Berezino and Gorka. These are category-based concentrations: they point to buildings worth checking for a particular need, not to guaranteed contents. The database warns that its figures may differ on modded or custom servers.
Early military stops
Balota and Krasnostav airfields are commonly described as first military-gear stops after the coast. They offer a reason to leave the shoreline before pushing deeper inland, but their accessibility also makes them natural destinations for other players. A visit can improve your equipment; it does not remove the risks of entering a military location or guarantee a useful find.

Tier 3 and Tier 4 military areas
Tisy, NWAF and Kamensk are among the military locations associated with Tier 3 or Tier 4 loot in community lists and the loot database. The database lists the AK101 as spawning only at military zones—specifically Tisy, NWAF and Kamensk—in the server files it references. That statement is not universal across custom servers, whose files can change item eligibility.
NWAF is described as the most contested location, while Tisy is described as the highest-tier Chernarus destination. Higher-tier sites may be attractive for equipment, but the same desirability can bring more player traffic. Choose a destination for the equipment you need and the exposure you are willing to accept, rather than assuming that the highest tier is automatically the best next move.
A practical gear progression route
- Stabilize on the coast. Search nearby towns for food, water, basic medical supplies, clothing and a knife. Chernogorsk is noted for reliable food and clothing; a smaller settlement such as Solnechny or Svetloyarsk may be a quieter alternative with a smaller loot pool.
- Move inland for supplies. Use mid-sized towns and countryside as the transition between a fresh spawn and a military run. Check the civilian, police or medical locations that match your immediate need; category concentrations are more useful than assuming an entire town belongs to one exact tier.
- Choose an early military stop. Consider Balota or Krasnostav as reported first military-gear options. Their community descriptions do not establish a guaranteed loadout or a universally agreed tier, so make the decision based on your readiness and route.
- Push toward a Tier 3 military area if you need better equipment. NWAF, Kamensk and other listed inland or north-west sites are reported as stronger military destinations. NWAF is particularly contested according to The Northmen.
- Make Tisy a deliberate high-risk destination. Tisy is described as the highest loot tier on Chernarus. Go because the possible equipment is worth the journey to you, not because a tier number guarantees a specific item.
- Reassess after each stop. If you have the gear you need, continuing toward another high-traffic military area may add risk without solving a current need. If you are missing a specific category—medical, police or military—use the relevant building or site type as a guide, then account for server variation.
This is a progression framework, not a fixed sequence of coordinates. The evidence supports broad movement from coast to inland towns and then to north-west military areas, but it does not establish a single optimal route, travel time or safe path. Your spawn point, server configuration and other players affect which stop makes sense.

Dynamic events and why a static tier map is incomplete
Helicopter crash sites are described as dynamic events with high-tier loot. The Northmen’s summary names UH-1Y Venom and MI-8 wreck types. Because these are events rather than ordinary fixed town destinations, they do not fit neatly into a static zone-by-zone route. The available description does not establish their exact spawn locations, timing or guaranteed contents; do not plan around a particular wreck appearing at a particular place.

More broadly, a map’s tiers describe zones, while item categories and the server’s economy settings also influence spawn eligibility and availability. A static tier map can help you choose a direction, but it cannot tell you exactly what will be present when you arrive.

On a standard or lightly modified server, community tier guides can provide a broad orientation. On a custom server, the Central Loot Economy files are the better reference for what that server allows. The relevant files identified in server-configuration guidance are:

These names identify configuration locations, not a universal recipe for reading every server’s files. If you administer a server, inspect its actual files and the tier or usage definitions they reference. If you are a player, a public community map may not reflect custom loot edits; server-specific documentation or an administrator’s explanation is more relevant when available.
How to use a tier map without overtrusting it
- Use tiers to set expectations, not predict a drop. A higher-tier military area may be a better candidate for military equipment, but the CLE controls eligibility and counts, and a visit can still produce no item you need.
- Check whether a map is for your server and version. Community-maintained tier assignments can change, and custom servers can alter configuration.
- Look for the item category as well as the zone. A hospital or police station may be a more direct search target for medical or police-related equipment than a town’s general tier label.
- Separate “can spawn here” from “will be here now.” Loot limits and server economy behavior make those different claims.
- Use interactive maps for navigation, not as proof of universal loot rules. The Northmen points readers toward iZurvive for map use, but a map location by itself does not establish an item’s current eligibility on every server.
What can and cannot be said about every zone
The available community summaries name examples across all four tiers, but they do not establish a verified, exhaustive zone-by-zone table for every area of Chernarus. Several placements conflict, and one guide notes that it adjusted its own tier map. There is also no official tier definition identified here that resolves those differences.

For exact item eligibility on a particular server, its CLE configuration outranks a generalized community chart. That distinction is the safest way to use a tier guide without mistaking community labels for guaranteed game behavior.
