Open Photo Mode with N on PC, L3 + R3 on PlayStation, or LS + RS on Xbox. Windows captures are stored in %UserProfile%PicturesCyberpunk 2077; console captures appear in each platform’s capture gallery. For camera movement and lens settings, use the control legend shown inside Photo Mode because bindings vary by platform, input device, and game version.

These are the entry shortcuts documented by CD PROJEKT RED Technical Support. Once the mode is open, the overlay is the authoritative reference for camera axes, movement, lens controls, and available actions on your current platform.
How to open Photo Mode
On PC
- Load your game and reach the scene you want to photograph.
- Press N.
- Wait for the Photo Mode interface and its control legend to appear.
- Use the displayed commands to position the camera and adjust the available image settings, then trigger the capture from the Photo Mode interface.
If N does nothing, check whether another application is intercepting the key, whether you are in a menu or sequence that temporarily blocks Photo Mode, and whether your keyboard layout or custom bindings changed the shortcut. Reopen the mode after returning to normal gameplay. A remapped camera command does not necessarily change the menu shortcut, because GOG documents that menu shortcuts are the exception to otherwise broad keyboard-and-mouse remapping.

Press both analog sticks simultaneously: L3 + R3. The left and right stick buttons must register at the same time. If the interface does not appear, release both sticks and try again during ordinary gameplay rather than in a menu or a blocked sequence.

On Xbox
Press both stick buttons: LS + RS. As on PlayStation, the game may temporarily prevent Photo Mode during certain menus or scripted moments. Try again after returning to free gameplay.
Understanding the camera controls
There is no single universal key table that is safe to publish for every PC, console, controller, keyboard layout, and patch. The dependable workflow is to open Photo Mode and follow the on-screen legend for the current device.
What the overlay tells you
The legend identifies the active commands for camera movement, camera-axis direction, lens or view adjustments, and confirmation or capture actions. It also shows which functions are available in the current mode. Read it again after switching from keyboard and mouse to a controller, because the labels and input symbols change with the device.
Remapping on PC
GOG’s control documentation says keyboard and mouse controls are almost fully remappable, with menu shortcuts excluded. That means you can generally move movement, camera, and other gameplay actions to keys or mouse inputs that suit your setup, but you should not assume the Photo Mode entry shortcut itself can be changed in the same way. After changing bindings, return to Photo Mode and verify each axis in the legend rather than relying on a remembered layout.

Controller users
On consoles, use the displayed controller prompts as the source of truth. Stick direction, button labels, and available options can differ from a keyboard-and-mouse layout. If a command feels reversed or inaccessible, inspect the game’s current controller settings and the Photo Mode legend before concluding that the feature is missing.
Where Cyberpunk 2077 screenshots are saved
Windows PC folder
The official Windows location for Photo Mode captures is:
%UserProfile%PicturesCyberpunk 2077
- Open File Explorer.
- Click the address bar.
- Paste
%UserProfile%PicturesCyberpunk 2077. - Press Enter.
Using the environment variable is safer than typing a guessed username because Windows expands %UserProfile% to the account currently running the game. If the folder is not visible, take a new Photo Mode capture, close or minimize the game, and check the path again. Also verify that you are looking at the same Windows account used to play.

Open Settings → Storage → System Storage → Capture Gallery → Cyberpunk 2077. This is the console’s gallery workflow rather than a Windows-style game folder. From there you can view, copy, or share the image using the platform’s normal capture tools.

Xbox Recent captures
Press the Xbox button, choose Capture & share, then open Recent captures. The console manages these files through its capture system, so they will not appear in the Windows Pictures directory.
Do not confuse Photo Mode captures with platform screenshots
A screenshot made by Steam, Xbox Game Bar, GeForce Experience, or a console share command can use a different storage location and naming workflow. To find the file in the Cyberpunk 2077 Pictures directory, make the image through the game’s own Photo Mode capture action. If you used an operating-system or platform shortcut instead, search that platform’s capture library instead.

The table separates two workflows that are often mixed up: entering the game’s Photo Mode and locating the resulting file. The shortcut is platform-specific, and the storage system is platform-specific even when the scene and in-game camera are the same.
How to get higher-quality screenshots
Start with a reliable output resolution
Choose the highest output resolution your hardware can render consistently. A larger image is useful only if the system can complete the render without severe frame-time spikes, visual instability, or a failed capture. Compare your result at 100% zoom in an image viewer; a picture that looks sharp when scaled down can reveal blur, noise, or aliasing at native size.

Prioritize textures and lighting
Keep texture quality and lighting settings as high as your GPU can sustain. Textures influence fine surface detail, while lighting determines how faces, clothing, vehicles, and wet streets read in the final frame. If performance becomes unreliable, lower the most expensive lighting option first and retest the exact composition rather than changing every setting at once.
Use supported PC rendering features deliberately
CD PROJEKT RED’s Ultimate Edition booklet lists DLSS 3.5 and Ray Tracing: Overdrive, which uses path-traced lighting, among the PC graphics capabilities. On supported hardware, these options can improve reconstruction or lighting quality, but they also increase rendering cost and may reduce frame rate. Treat them as scene-dependent choices: a static portrait with complex neon reflections may benefit from path tracing, while a lower-powered GPU or a high-resolution composition may need a less expensive lighting mode.
Upscaling is also a trade-off. A quality-oriented mode can preserve more detail, while a more performance-oriented mode may introduce softness or reconstruction artifacts. Inspect hair, thin cables, signage, and distant geometry at 100% zoom before deciding which setting looks best for your image.

Allow time for the image to settle
After moving the camera or changing lighting, pause long enough for the scene to finish rendering before capturing. This is especially important when using expensive ray-traced or path-traced settings. If the result contains unexpected softness or incomplete effects, return to the same viewpoint, wait for the render to stabilize, and capture again.

A repeatable Photo Mode workflow
- Prepare the scene. Move your character and camera to the desired location during normal gameplay.
- Open Photo Mode. Use N on PC, L3 + R3 on PlayStation, or LS + RS on Xbox.
- Read the legend. Confirm which input moves the camera, changes the view or lens, and activates capture on your current device.
- Set image quality. Select the highest practical resolution and graphics quality for your hardware.
- Test at native size. Make a trial capture and inspect it at 100% zoom for softness, aliasing, noise, or missing lighting detail.
- Adjust one variable. Change the camera position, lens setting, lighting quality, or upscaling mode, then compare another capture.
- Capture through Photo Mode. This keeps the file in the game’s documented capture workflow instead of a separate operating-system gallery.
- Verify the file. Check the Windows folder or console gallery before leaving the scene so you know the image was written successfully.
File types and editing limits
CD PROJEKT RED Photo Mode challenge rules identify .png and .jpg as accepted screenshot formats. Those rules require entries to be screenshots taken in Photo Mode and permit only flipping or cropping for that challenge context. They are a useful reference for native capture formats, but they do not establish one universal resolution, compression level, or file size for every platform.
For ordinary personal use, keep the original capture before making edits. A PNG may preserve more lossless detail, while a JPG is typically smaller; the game or platform’s own export behavior determines which format you receive. Do not rename a platform screenshot as a Photo Mode file and assume that it follows the same provenance.
Troubleshooting common problems
Photo Mode will not open
- Confirm the shortcut for your platform: N, L3 + R3, or LS + RS.
- Try from normal gameplay instead of a menu, dialogue, loading transition, or scripted sequence.
- On PC, check whether another program is capturing the key or whether your keyboard layout changed.
- Read the current control settings and in-game legend after any remapping.
The expected file is missing
- On Windows, paste the exact path
%UserProfile%PicturesCyberpunk 2077into File Explorer. - Make sure you used the game’s Photo Mode capture action, not a Steam, Game Bar, GeForce Experience, or console screenshot command.
- On PlayStation, check Capture Gallery; on Xbox, check Capture & share → Recent captures.
- Confirm that you are viewing the same user account or console profile that created the capture.
The image looks soft or noisy
- Inspect it at 100% zoom rather than judging a thumbnail.
- Raise output resolution or texture quality if the GPU has headroom.
- Compare upscaling modes and watch thin details such as wires, hair, and signs.
- If path tracing or other expensive lighting causes instability, switch to a less demanding mode and capture again after the scene settles.
The controls do not match an online guide
Bindings can vary with platform, input device, remapping, and patch. Ignore universal key charts that conflict with your interface and use the legend shown in your running game. On PC, review remapped controls while remembering that menu shortcuts are not covered by the same remapping flexibility.
Which editions and platforms include the game?
CD PROJEKT RED states that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition includes the base game and Phantom Liberty and is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Photo Mode behavior and capture locations still follow the platform-specific workflows above.
