Johnny Silverhand’s pistol is the Malorian Arms 3516, an Iconic Power pistol. V can obtain it during the side job Chippin’ In, after confronting Grayson at the Ebunike shipyard. The route includes story spoilers.
How to get the Malorian Arms 3516
Story spoilers: The pistol is part of the Ebunike encounter in Chippin’ In. The side job becomes available after Tapeworm, which concludes during Search and Destroy.
- Complete Tapeworm and begin the side job Chippin’ In.
- Progress through the job until V reaches the Ebunike shipyard and encounters Grayson.
- Defeat Grayson, then take the Malorian Arms 3516 from him.
The pistol is awarded through this encounter; choices involving Johnny’s other items are separate and should not be mistaken for the weapon’s acquisition.

The Malorian is a Power pistol that uses handgun ammunition. Power bullets can ricochet off surfaces, and the weapon’s signature move is a quick melee attack that ignites the target and deals heavy damage while consuming every round left in the magazine. That trade-off makes it worth checking the loaded ammunition before using the melee attack.

These values are attributed to the GameStegy weapon reference and should be read in the context of its displayed tier. An older 2020 guide reports different damage, fire-rate, ammunition-capacity, and thermal-damage figures, so avoid combining those numbers into one stat line. The available references do not establish an exact balance-change history.

Is it worth using?
Its high listed projectile damage, guaranteed ricochet chance in the cited tier, and distinctive melee attack make it a useful option for players who enjoy an aggressive handgun. The melee move also empties the remaining magazine, so it is not a free bonus attack. Practical results depend on V’s perks and build, difficulty, enemy armor, and the weapon’s tier; the published figures alone do not establish that it is the best pistol for every character.
Version context
CD Projekt RED’s Update 2.3 notes are dated July 16, 2025. They do not name the Malorian Arms 3516 or document a balance adjustment to it. That is a dated reference point, not confirmation of the newest live game version. For exact values, check the pistol’s displayed stats in your own build. The official update page also says Update 2.3 is free for owners of the base game and does not require Phantom Liberty or the Ultimate Edition.
